I have just gotten back from the cafe. I needed the time there after the day we had at the hospital. We got there at 9 and didn’t leave until 2, waiting to see a total of 3 different doctors – only one of which gave us a time (and then was over an hour late.) We didn’t know who we were waiting for or when to hope they would arrive. My husband kept trying to pull out his oxygen cannula, so it was pretty constant that first one of us and then the other held his hand, trying to calm him. They took blood, mainly for the appointment with the heart doctor. The end result of all this was the addition of another medicine for his high blood pressure. The new med will be monitored. His nurse at the nursing home will get a blood sample in two weeks and take it to the hospital. Harvey won’t have to go then, thank goodness. We will see the heart doc in 3 months, in conjunction with the neurologist we see in order to get the paperwork for the medical visa.

By the time we got back home after 2, I was completely exhausted emotionally. Not knowing who you’re waiting for, what they will do, when they will come, waiting endlessly while trying to calm someone who has been fasting since last night really takes it out of you.

I didn’t care that it was raining a bit. I headed for the cafe to wind down and get my self moving in another direction. It could have been so much worse. I’m grateful that we came out pretty well. I’m hopeful the new med will do its job for Harvey. He was still coughing and still on oxygen.
