Sent to me by my SIL, ML. Love it!

I just came back from sketching at the cafe. It had started sprinkling just as I was finishing a sketch, so I packed everything up and came home. Just as I opened the door to my condo, the sky went dark and it POURED. Things are easing up now, but I got home in time to get my laundry off my balcony and stay dry. Hooraaaay!

Here is my latest painted sketch.

I got my hair cut today. I don’t look like the woman in the picture I showed my stylist, but that wasn’t going to happen in any way, shape, or form. He DID get rid of all the excess hair in the back and on the sides, leaving the top long. This is me without any kind of styling ‘stuff.’ I can use mousse if I want to to try to make it a bit more edgy (I think), but it FEELS really good now. 💇

Brian met the heart doctor and Harvey’s nurse at the hospital yesterday to analyze a new blood sample the nurse brought and see if Harvey’s blood pressure medicine needed changing. Somehow, the bill for this was over $450! We will get with the docs at the hospital and the new owner of the nursing home and make sure we’re on the same page on what meds are necessary, and where we can get them for the lowest prices. We will see Harvey Saturday at the nursing home.

Today I did the prep stuff for my housekeeper coming tomorrow – changing the sheets, changing towels, gathering trash, general straightening. Tomorrow I have my massage (Ahhhhh!) and then Brian and I will go to the cafe to get out of the way until Khun Bpaum is finished cleaning.

Today we’re having a quiet day after over a week of dealing with my husband’s unexpected stay at the hospital. We are glad he’s back at the nursing home and hope that when we visit him again Saturday, he is feeling much better. I will be taking this for his Happy Wall –

This is an image of one of the mailbox decorations he and I cut out of sheet metal. I’m hoping he’ll remember that, or be comforted by the hug. We were talking about my needing home oxygen after dying twice at the hospital. He had no memory of that, and I’m not sure he was following the conversation. Since he fell asleep before we left, I’m hoping that the next few days will bring him rest, relief, and healing from the infection he had.

I got a sore throat from “somewhere” over the past several days. Brian and I were talking about the fact that I seemed to get the last one after being at the hospital when Harvey was there for pneumonia…. I drank extra Vitamin C powder in orange juice twice, trying to head this off at the pass. My throat is still sore. This isn’t a miracle cure or anything, but I figure it can’t hurt…😷

Today is the day I change the sheets on my bed, get out fresh towels, gather trash, and generally straighten so that my housekeeper can work her magic tomorrow. I will also get cash so I pay pay her, plus my massage therapist tomorrow.

This morning my toilet wouldn’t flush. It was the middle of the night and I was up taking care of business, and was wide awake by the time I checked out other water-related things in my place. I found out from Brian that water pressure was very low building-wide and that the maintenance people would get to it soon. It was less than an hour before everything was back to normal! I’m very grateful to live in a place where things are fixed quickly and well.

Trying to get my washed undies dry yesterday was a bit of a challenge. I washed things and hung them on my drying rack on the balcony as usual. It started to rain, so I moved the whole rack inside, putting a sheet under it to catch any drips. The sun was shining when we got back from visiting my husband, so I moved the rack back outside, only to be caught just a short while later…. I’m down to one pair of gym socks and one group of underwear today that are on the rack, hopefully getting dry before I head to the cafe.

Brian and I finally feel well enough that we went to the gym this morning for the first time in a week. We are still coughing, but it’s just leftover stuff now. It was good to be back to our normal schedule this morning, although it seemed like the half hour walking went slow for me. Shows how much I NEED it!

I have the sheets changed on the bed, trash gathered, and things picked up and mostly ready for Khun Nong’s sister, Khun Bpaum, to come clean tomorrow.

I’m going to head for the cafe soon, getting money to pay my massage people and the cleaning lady, on the way.

I had a really nice time with the lady who owns or manages the hotel connected to the cafe yesterday. I had brought my older sketchbook and she had time and wanted to look at my stuff. I’ve never had anyone ask to do that before, so it was really a thrill. After she looked a while, I told her about the “Thai Street Series” I was trying to do. She was interested, so I riffled through the sketches to find them. I held my breath when we got to the shrine, because Brian told me that I could offend someone if they didn’t like it. The wonderful thing was that she was pleased with it. She liked the calm and reverent feeling I had gotten. I was so relieved. She said the one thing that was missing was some moss, so I added some to the painting this morning.

She wants to draw, too, and even bought a sketchbook. I encouraged her to do it. It would relieve her stress.
