We went to visit Harvey this morning. He has been largely unresponsive the last several times we have visited. He says, “Hi,” or kisses my hand, but that’s basically it. He is calm and content, comfortable, and just wants to look out the window or watch the TV. He lives in his own little world. We are grateful that the quality of his life seems to satisfy him.
The nursing home is now under new ownership. We met the doctor and his assistant today. It looks like we are all in good hands, and that we may be partners in Harvey’s care, with us all on the same page. That is comforting.

These are my latest painted sketches.
I just came home from the cafe. I got my favorite spot and sat happily sketching and making notes this afternoon.

I finally got the border for the chameleon puzzle finished. I may die of old age before finishing this one. There are few clues as to what you’re working on or even what colors you’re working with. This will be a challenge, and the chamelon is right in the middle…

I’m practicing the Key of C chord progression on my guitar – C – G – Am – F. These are some basic chords that are used in lots of popular songs. Of course, I’m vastly simplifying things, but it’s a start.

I saw a church steeple sticking up out of the ‘noise’ of the city and took a picture of it. I’m going to see if I can draw at least part of it. I also took pictures of two different lizards lately, one that had a blue head, and the other that blended right in with the rocks. The server at the cafe told me that some of the lizards can fly! I looked it up and they can kind of GLIDE down, some up to 60 or so feet (1) to get away from a predator! I’m going to try to draw them, as well. I started a sketch of an old woman’s hands (mine). I don’t know if I can get it to come out at all well. We’ll see. I’ve also started a rooster.

Today is Tuesday. That means water bottle exercises. I’ll do those as soon as I finish my blog posts for the day.

I know you are glad when you visit your Harvey. He seems content and peaceful. That is comforting, for sure.
Your painted sketches are so cute, especially the giraffe 😊. You are so creative.
I can’t wait to see the church staple when you get it painted. I will watch for it to come up.
Now, flying lizards… That would just scare me to see those flying, and especially if it flew close to me, and I was afraid it might land on me. I wonder if they have teeth?
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. And as always, thank you for sharing. (Donna)

I’m glad you liked the sketches, Donna. I’m not sure about the flying lizards, either, except that I read they just glide down to get away from predators, rather than leaping up to fly and land on people. Thanks for your kind words.

I love that you’re practicing your guitar! I have one, too, but I don’t remember the last time I took it out and tried to play it. You’re right about the four chords! When I used to play for Sunday school I always said all you need is for chords and the truth! 😀

I love your quote! Over 50 years since I played and sang regularly. I’m having to really work at it now, to stretch my hand and fingers for the wider neck of this guitar, and challenge my brain to relearn the chords while trying to build callouses on my fingertips, but I look forward to being to play and sing, just for pleasure again. My voice may never make it out of the sick frog sound, but I’ll only be playing for me so that doesn’t matter. The joy I’ll get from it will outweigh any embarrassment.

That’s curious about the nursing home. But I am glad you are okay with that. Also glad to hear Harvey is doing good, even if still in his own little world. Better than some of the other visits. Love the kisses on your hand!
Love these sketches, Linda.
Guitar chord progression work sounds amazing!

Thanks for your nice note, Sheila. I’m getting addicted to hearing from you! The new ownership of the nursing home may be a really good thing for us going forward. He has a parent in a nursing home and is a doctor, so has first-hand knowledge and understanding. The end of life stuff is just format and necessary legality. It actually makes me calmer knowing that Harvey’s wishes (and ours) are down in black and white and signed by all of us, so there should be no misunderstandings. He’s also going to see if he can help us on getting H’s meds at the lowest prices possible and will look at our bills from there to see if there are any ways to cut costs without reducing the quality of care. I would also like it if they TRY to feed him more of what everyone else is eating there, when possible, when the danger of choking is low, rather than essentially receiving all of his nourishment from the milk in the nasal tube. Since he can eat French fries and fruit bites, it may be possible. Yes, I melt into a puddle when Harvey kisses my hand. I’m glad you’re enjoying the sketches, and thanks for the encouragement on the guitar practice. This morning I’m also going to TRY a squat. If you don’t hear from me again, I’m probably still on the floor… 🤣

Oh my gosh, this new doctor owner sounds like a dream!! What a wonderful person to do all of this for you!! Yes, Linda. Some addictions can be good—like our comment conversations. In my humble opinion anyway.
We have a song about chord progressions too that I will send a link —>>

Wow. I love the song! I’ve bookmarked it. Thanks.
Yes, the former owner was apparently trying to distance herself from the place the whole time we have been there. She didn’t do a bad job – just was too hands off and wasn’t a good communicator. We are hopeful that things will get better. He’s keeping all the staff _ for which I thanked him heartily. I will take it very easy on the squat.🤞
