Two new painted sketches from yesterday.
We’re planning to spend some time at the cafe today, so this afternoon will be nice, as well.

Brian just ordered this new puzzle for me today! I think this Cheetah is stunning and I love the way he stands out from the background.
I’m finally making enough progress now that I’ve decided I WILL live long enough to finish the gorgeous turtle puzzle, though he’s still being coy about emerging, and would like to have another puzzle I’m excited about waiting in the wings.

If you’ll look carefully, the part in the low center that looks like someone lost their dinner is actually the stomach of the beautiful turtle – anchored by his foot between the red fish and the blue fish. His beautiful head will probably be the last thing to show itself…

Brian and I are stocking up on supplies a bit for the Songkran Celebration next week. It’s the 13-15th (this coming Monday through Wednesday) and is Thailand’s largest celebration of the year, proclaiming a new year, washing away of bad luck, bringing new luck for the coming year. They are selling machine gun looking water guns and the young people are all gearing up to hose anything that moves outside if they haven’t already dumped a bucket of water on the people below.
There are 4 classes of humans who are NOT supposed to get hosed: monks, old people, babies, and pregnant women. Tourists, just out to have fun, routinely ignore rules, and some who DO know the rules simply get caught up and ‘forget.’ We plan to keep a very low profile, going out as little as possible through the middle of the week, although we will try to get to the gym and we will plan to visit Harvey at the nursing home on Tuesday. Maybe I can see something out my window…

I love your paintings and that cheetah on your next puzzle awaiting really does stand out. A lovely picture.
What will you do once you have finished the turtle one. Will you have the pieces glued to be framed? I can’t remember if this was something you were planning or not. 😊

Thanks so much for your kind words about my paintings, Liz! MUCH appreciated. Once I finish a puzzle, I let it sit there in its glory until my sweet housekeeper, who tries to clean around it, sees the finished product. I also enjoy running my hands over it because I love the way the pieces feel different when fully interlocked. Then Brian takes a good photo of it and orders a glass print made of it to put up on my statement shelf. Finally, I take it apart, putting the reference picture with it, and give it away.

Oh, I love the bunny and spring flowers and birdy sketches, Linda! I am adding to my list to try and replicate! I am working on the colorful lizard gecko currently (from a while back). I got interrupted yesterday and didn’t sketch. My daughter came in for a surprise visit and stayed for a couple hours! Ha! She had to relay a lot about her day, getting the twins to the eye doctor and then driving to another town and going to three different places because no one would take her insurance for their glasses! Ugh
I am glad you and Brian will try to avoid getting soaked in the festivities (while going to see Harvey). And your puzzle is coming along nicely! The cheetah will be excited, though the dark areas challenging.

I’m glad you liked the sketches, and even happier you are finding fun in trying to replicate the ones you like. Time with your daughter is priceless. The sketched will wait. Yes, the dark areas on the cheetah will be challenging, but it CAN’T be as difficult a puzzle as this turtle has been. hahahahahaha

We’ll see! I had just written a long reply and not kidding, the screen popped up a message and said, “your reply cannot be sent”! LOL

Have you ever thought of producing your art work as note cards, images on shirts, book bags, cups, poster boards?

I had a website where I listed my own artwork, wood burning, glass etching, notecards, etc, plus the work of 100 others, for 17 years. I then had a website on Etsy, which I shut down when we moved to Thailand. I am enjoying concentrating on teaching myself to draw now- no pressure, just challenge and pure pleasure.

Your sketches are beautiful! I just love all the details you draw.
That turtle puzzle is looking good. You will get it completed and feel great that you did it. I will be so happy for you, as well.
Hopefully you and your son will be able to avoid the water blasting and just enjoy watching out the window. It is such an odd tradition, I must say. (Donna)
