This is another of the gorgeous flowering trees that are blooming profusely everywhere now, even with 101 degree temperatures and no rain. All this beauty makes my soul smile.

Shout-outs to 3 of my favorite people:

Shout-out to Cathy, who has been very ill, but is getting better now. 🙏🏻

Shout-out to Nora, who is trying to get ready to leave her long-time home.

Shout-out to Mary Lou, who will hopefully be on her way to the beach tomorrow for some much-deserved relaxation time!

This is my latest “Thai Street Scene” painted sketch of a balcony with windows below. I love the basic design of the building, the elegance of the balcony and the windows, once pristine black and white, and now with a fascinating design of mold adding character. I love the fact that plants in all shapes and flavors are an integral part of each place I see.

My SIL suggested that I get one of the free language translator apps on my phone to help in situations where I’m resorting to pantomimes and sign language. :0). There were so many listed, I took my phone to Brian and asked for his recommendation. He uses Google Translate, and installed that on my phone for me, setting it for translation from English to Thai. I can type in what I want to say, or say it with the use of the microphone, and it will print it out in English for me and Thai for the person with whom I’m trying to communicate – another tool in my arsenal. Sometimes a good photo is all that is needed, as in the case with the Songkran bowl ceremony and the nursing home staff honoring my husband in that way. I feel good, though, having this translator on my phone that will help me if I need it!

We have a quiet day today. Brian and I will probably end up at the cafe at least part of the afternoon. Brian has started going over, checking to see if my spot is available, then texting me. I love it!!! I am finding lots of things I want to sketch. I’ll try to paint at least one of them today, plus work on my turtle puzzle.

This is just one of MANY trees and bushes blooming right now. I’m not really sure WHY they are blooming, since this is the ‘hot and hazy’ season right now, with little, if any, rain. It just makes me happy to look around and see wonderful splashes of color and lush blooms.

For introducing me to Qigong, (Chi-gong) an ancient Chinese wellness system combining slow movement, breathing techniques, and focused intention to cultivate and balance “qi” (vital energy). It integrates gentle physical postures, mental meditation, and deep breathing to reduce stress, increase energy, and enhance overall health.

I’m just getting started with this, but I am already feeling some effects of it and plan to add it to my daily schedule.

Brian and I went to see Harvey at the nursing home this morning. This was one of the better visits, even though his nurse had contacted Brian last night, saying he had cut his hand and was having to wear the plastic “air gloves” because he seemed to be trying to pull his nasal feeding tube out. Today he was calm and in good spirits. He wasn’t hurting. He wasn’t wearing the awful gloves, so I guess the nurse had decided he wasn’t intending to pull out the tube anymore. He really wanted a cheeseburger and fries. Brian finally agreed to talk to the people in charge and see if his nurse could help Harvey eat fries tomorrow if Brian called in a delivery of them out there. Though a lot of what he said didn’t make sense, he wasn’t upset, so it was a good visit.

I had fun sketching at the cafe yesterday afternoon, even though I didn’t get my favorite seat. It was good I took my sweatshirt because it was like a meat locker in the cafe, so I pulled it on after about half an hour and then was comfortable. I will try to get started painting one of the sketches this afternoon.

There is an Asian family of 3 across the building from me, with a father, mother, and little boy of about 5, I think. I don’t know where they are from, but they are very nice. When the little boy looked at me with his beautiful large eyes a week or so ago, I impulsively waved at him. Now we wave enthusiastically whenever we see each other. 👋. Today when I went up for breakfast, the mother and boy rode in the elevator with me. His mom is really pretty and she was wearing a motorcycle helmet with playing cards on both sides. They could have been an ad for anything they looked so nice! We have only said, “Hello,” because language is a barrier, but it’s so pleasant to see them.

I don’t know who the artist is, but I think this elephant is wonderful.

Lunch Bunch was fun yesterday. Kay and Bud were there, plus their neighbor, Cheryl. We had a good time. I reminded Kay about our gift exchange next Friday, but she acted as though we hadn’t already talked about it and agreed. Our waitress asked me as we left. I told her that I had reminded Kay and would remind Patty and Linda at the first of the week, but that I wasn’t sure of anything anymore…

I didn’t receive my wood burning tool protection stuff I ordered yesterday. Maybe today.

‘Something’ other than birds has been eating our birdseed lately. Last night we caught a possum inside the garage in our humane cage. My husband will take care of this later. This is one thing I’m happy I don’t have to do. We relocate raccoons, but not possums.

Shout-Out to Marsha, MaryLou, and Bill who are all on the wrong side of Mother Nature’s temper this weekend. I hope you all come through the coming bad weather healthy and happy.

Shout-Out to Cathy, who has health issues she is handling with much more grace than I would. I wish you lots of good rest, feeling better, and good results.

Happy Thursday 11-10-2022

Good morning!

Mother Nature is testing our mettle this week, with sunny and 81 today, and rain, a freeze, and high of 53 tomorrow. I have enjoyed roller coasters in the past, but I prefer them in an amusement park…

Shout-out to Marsha – continue to stay safe and dry from the hurricane today.

Shout-out to Cathy – I hope you’re recovering well and will feel sassy soon.

Shout-out to Susy – Thinking of you and Bobby, and hope things are going well.

I’m continuing to try to neaten up the yard, but I’m taking it easy a bit after all the potting soil I moved recently. Making sure we’re ready for the freezes starting tonight and then weed whacking are the priorities for the day.

Make today a wonderful day.
