I hope this link is clickable and shows you the cute video. I’m still smiling.

I had a good session at the gym this morning. I changed focus and concentrated on walking without holding on to the handlebars. I did it for the 30 minute walk without having to struggle to keep my balance or having to correct over and over. Whoopeeeee!

Brian and I shared breakfast and then went to visit my husband. Today’s visit was one of the better ones. They had sent Brian a video earlier this morning showing Harvey feeding himself a breakfast of “Joke.”

Key Features of Jok

  • The Rice Base: Made from broken jasmine rice cooked in a rich broth until the grains break down into a smooth, thick, velvety, and creamy texture (similar to oatmeal or Chinese congee). [1, 2, 3]
  • Common Proteins: Usually served with Jok Moo (seasoned minced pork meatballs or patties), sliced pork liver, or occasionally chicken, fish, or seafood. [1, 2, 3]
  • Eggs: A soft-poached, soft-boiled, or Onsen egg is very commonly cracked into the hot porridge. [1]
  • Toppings & Seasonings: Garnished with fresh ginger strips, chopped green onions, cilantro, fried garlic, white pepper, and a dash of seasoning sauce or fish sauce. [1, 2, 3]
  • Accompaniments: Often paired with Pathongko (crispy Thai fried dough sticks) for dipping. [1]

Since Harvey is supposed to be increasing his protein and drinking more water, I’m assuming that they added eggs to Harvey’s. Anyway, he said he liked it a lot. Brian relayed that information to Khun Pim, his nurse, so he can get more of it.

He was glad to see us. He told Brian he really appreciated him being such a good son, bringing him the orange Vitamin C drink he likes and having special things delivered. “I” have told Brian, but I think this is the first time HE has told Brian. It meant the world to him. He mostly made sense today, although he was asking us how the chicken coop was coming along, and the super car race track, etc. I HOPE he was just dreaming when he told us about asking Khun Pim to take her red bra off…

I had my second meal of our new week-long trial of my eating some lunch daily – to cure my hunger pangs AND to try to add back some of the weight I have lost lately that I don’t want to lose. (My range now is 105-110 lbs and I’ve been hitting 104 or under lately.) I ate the first yesterday. It was delicious, but was really too much food.

Today’s lunch was equally delicious. A nice sized salad, an ice cream scoop’s worth of a mixture of rices, two small apple slices, chicken slivers, and a nice sauce. I immediately divided the meal in half. I ate half and put the rest in my tiny fridge. I gained a full pound from the lunch yesterday. That’s good, but gaining that much weight on a daily basis is not sustainable on my plan. I have now asked Brian if this “healthy” food service offers smaller meals, telling him what I’m doing. I don’t want to waste the food. We’ll see what the week shows and then make some decisions about going forward.

I’m going to head for the cafe in a second. I’m starting new sketches today.

Brian is acting ‘teed off’ that I’m making good progress on my cats puzzle. He is crabbing that he’ll have to take a picture of the finished puzzle and send it off to the glass print people, which is not inexpensive. Since I could be wanting all kinds of art work, plants, furniture, clothes, etc., he has to admit I’m pretty low maintenance, and he DID just order me another puzzle yesterday…
