We visited Harvey at the nursing home. He was comfortable and calm, but totally delusional about what was going on outside his window. We tried to explain that the people out there with white sacks were planting rice, seeding the fields. He wasn’t buying it, spinning wild ideas of what was going on.

I’m just back from the cafe. It rained pretty hard for a few minutes and then cleared off with the sun coming out. I got a reasonable amount of work done, so I opted to come home and rest before dinner.

I felt like I had lost a whole generation when I got my wonderful necklace during Songkran, the water festival, with what were modern Disney characters that are so popular here. So I made it a point to look these up and make a record of the cute characters.

I told you that one of the issues I had after my surgery a year ago in February was hearing loss. We got me some hearing aids and they have been wonderful. One of them stopped working and we went to the place who sold us the aids to have them look at them. It turned out with as careful as I have been to clean them, there is still a place that is almost impossible to clean that becomes blocked with ear wax. They changed out the ear wax guard and my aid worked perfectly again. We ordered some more, and changed out the wax guard in the other aid, which had since developed the same problem. Now I can change it out without having to make an appointment. Hooray!

We got my glass print of the “Rooster Runway” jigsaw puzzle a couple of days ago. It’s just a bit smaller that the personality portrait painting my dad painted of me, so I put them side by side on my statement shelf.

Brian has sent the photos of the “Cats on the Beach” puzzle for a glass print to be made, with strict orders to me to SLOW DOWN on my puzzle solving. So far, I’m complying, since my newest puzzle, “Abstract Cat” hasn’t arrived yet…. 🤣 🧩

Shout out to Michael, who was mopping his floor and slipped, falling and fracturing his wrist. He is my former hairdresser and dear friend, so he will need all of our good thoughts on helping him perform his job, slipping off and on a soft cast splint thing until further notice.

2nd try at the elegant lady in the white dress. It still isn’t what I had in my mind, but it’s the best I can do right now.

Brian and I just finished taking my laundry. On the way, I stopped and visited my Koi fish! I could stay there for half the day. It’s so calm and restful there. The fish are so well taken care of. Today the aeration had been increased and I think some of the fish were larger, if that can be believed. I’m not exaggerating when I say that some of them are right at 2 feet long. We continued our walk to go around the long way. The weather was perfect for this.

One of the issues I had on leaving the hospital a year ago in February was that I had a fairly significant hearing loss. I ended up with a realing nice set of hearing aids called the Oticon Intent 3 miniRITE. They are wonderful, easy to clean, and rechargeable.

The last few days, though, the right one has been acting up – or, to be more specific, isn’t working. The battery shows it’s fully charged, so I’m not sure what the deal is. Brian is trying to get me an appointment to see the people at the place where we purchased these to see if they can help. I’m functional, but it would be nice to be able to hear out of both ears again.

When I finish my posts, I’m going to do my yoga stretches and then practice my guitar. I’ve also promised myself to do a bunch of reading in-between sessions working on my puzzle. I’m hoping our glass print of the cheetah puzzle will arrive soon. I will probably spend some time at the cafe this afternoon. Just a nice, relaxed, nice day.

This ‘n That – 8-11-2025

These are the newest sketches/paintings from my art alcove.

Brian and I will go out for errands soon and then I’ll probably have the afternoon to myself. I plan to do a combination of watching a favorite movie (!) and starting some sketches.

My weather app says, “Rainy conditions will continue all day.” Right now the sun is shining, so I’m taking a chance and my drying rack is out on my balcony. It won’t be the end of the world if it all gets rained on while we’re out.

I felt better today, so I went to the gym and walked my mile NOT touching the handlebars, concentrating on not losing my balance. My ARMS got a bit tired, so I kept changing up whether I swung them down at my sides, up by my waist, or up higher with my fingers closed. Worked pretty well.

I spent much of yesterday afternoon taking in my two pairs of jeans and two pairs of cut-off-exercise jeans. I’m trying to make these last until I get to the weight I want to maintain. THEN I’ll splurge and buy a couple of pairs of jeans that fit well, encouraging me to maintain my weight. The exercise cut-offs don’t matter as long as they stay on. 🤣

Oddly enough, on my list of things I would like to get when we can get to it is a couple of sweatshirts – one to wear, if needed, and one to be in the wash while I use the other. We often go places where we need to wait a long time and they keep the a/c on “KILL.” I get chilled, then downright uncomfortable. I’m taking a suggestion from Brian, who carries a sweatshirt in his carrier for these situations. My light hoodie and jean jacket just aren’t enough.
