When I was reading some posts on X (Twitter) recently, someone asked, “If you could do away with one thing in the world, what would it be?”
Michael Crichton-Notable Quotes
I bypassed it, and then thought about it off and on the rest of the day. I’m still not sure. I thought, “Stupidity,” but then I wondered, ‘who would be the judge?’ I would certainly be thought stupid by some others, and so would be signing my own erasure.

Then I thought, “Hate,” but then I thought, “I” hate people who hate and do what I consider awful things, but it MAY depend on what is being done and why.

Then I considered, “apathy,” but we certainly have more than enough people jumping up and saying things they have to later try to take back or doing things that hurt others and can never be made right.
I love Pinterest.com. I find things I think are truly wonderful there. The only thing that frustrates me from time to time is that there is not always attribution as to who created the wonderful things. All I can do is type, “Pinterest,” because I don’t know who the artist is. And, when they don’t list the artist, it makes it almost impossible for me to find more to share with you.
I wish it were different. I still love Pinterest, but I wish everyone would dig a bit to find out who is responsible for a thing of beauty, rather than just “pinning” something they like.
We’re having a pretty morning here, 59 and sunny, with a high of 86 predicted for this afternoon. This old lady is still having to baby her back with Tylenol, a heating pad in my chair, and yoga stretching in the afternoons after pulling weeds over the weekend. Getting old is the pits.

I’m finally getting used to my ‘intermittent fasting’ from 8pm till noon the next day. I’m watching my portions at lunch and dinner and snacking very carefully in-between. I’m doing my yoga stretching each afternoon and working outside (when my body isn’t yelling at me) and generally trying to move more. My eyeballs are floating because I’m trying to drink a glass of water in-between cups of coffee. I’m eating more fiber, fruit, and veggies. It’s all beginning to come together and my stomach isn’t thinking that my throat has been cut. I’m not feeling as if I’m starving to death anymore. Hoping that all this results in the scales becoming less snarky. It would be really lovely for the scales to say something like, “Way to go,” “You go, girl!” “Making progress!” or something similar….
I’m having one of those days where I had to look at my watch to figure out what day it is. Hopefully, I’ll get my head on straight and will have a reasonably productive day. I wish YOU a wonderful one. :0)
Back when I was a young child (before 1492 and Columbus) I would make my own costume and my friends and I would go trick-or-treating in a group by ourselves, promising to stay in the neighborhood to the south of us and to be home by a certain time.
The only thing we worried about back then was the possibility of a razor blade in the middle of a caramel apple. Since I wasn’t a big fan of those, I didn’t worry at all. My favorite treat was a candy bar.
I have so many wonderful memories of Halloweens with my friends. We talked and laughed, ran and danced, filled our sacks or other containers with goodies to pour over when we got home.
It makes me a bit sad that the holiday has had to change so much due to the way of the world now. I’m glad that kids can still dress up and either go to a Halloween get-together, a haunted house, or do a bit of trick-or-treating with mothers driving slowly behind them, or taking them by the hand. Better than nothing, but oh, I wish kids could experience the freedom and joy we did!

I’m about to go do a session of slow, stretching, relaxing yoga to see if I can get my poor body to stop complaining. I’ll plan to do one session now, and another right before dinner. It would be fun if Amber wanted to practice with me, but if she notices I’m down on the floor, she usually wants to come snuffle me, and then try to SIT on me…
Yesterday I went out and did about 20 minutes of pulling up small “weed trees” beside the shop. I’m trying to get these pulled by hand because they are too much for the wire in the weed whacker. Even though I only did that one session, my back hurt so badly when I was cooking dinner I had to ask my husband to come stir the chicken I was browning.
I’m going to redouble my efforts today on my yoga. It’s taken a back seat to my yard work, and my body is apparently telling me that is a mistake. I need to make time for both. I have to learn this lesson over and over – being a bit slow-witted – learning that the stretching and relaxation is essential to my well-being. :0(
I’ve come across several recipes for getting the lard off recently and thought I would share –
I’m incorporating portion control, eating more fruit and veggies, eating more fiber, intermittent fasting, drinking more water, and trying to get more exercise. 11 pounds down so far. Trying to make it to 12…
I won’t look this cute, but I plan to use this wonderfully cooler day today to get some things done in the yard. It’s 49 degrees F. right now, so I’m actually waiting a bit until it WARMS UP (imagine that!) before I go out. :0)
I’ll probably do several sessions, with some resting in-between, and see how much I can accomplish.
I know ‘autumn’ began on the 23rd of September, but since Arkansas has been experiencing record-breaking heat for the month, it really didn’t SEEM like it. Just an abstract ‘wished-for’ concept.
Recently we got rain and a cool front that appreciably lessened the high temperatures. This afternoon we’re due for another cool front (without the rain this time) that will take the temperatures down even farther. HOORAY! The high will be in the low 80s today and I think in the high 60s tomorrow. Woo HOOOO! It’ll be NICE when I’m trying to work outside. I can’t wait!!

We have Lunch Bunch today. No one has contacted me yet, so I’m hopeful that SOMEONE will be there to eat with us. If not, we’ll just enjoy some lunch and do our errands.

I’ll also get the makings of chili in the crock pot when we get back from Lunch Bunch. Not sure what else is in store, but I hope the weather where you are is nice and that you have a wonderful Friday.

It rained here, but not until last night. The forecasts, depending on which ones you chose, said the rain would begin at 8am yesterday morning, or noon, or after sunset. The after-sunset group won the forecast battle, but the thunderstorms they were talking about didn’t materialize here. The temperature decreased and we got some civilized rain with a few rumblings. NICE. It’s 69 here now, and is due to get to 81 this afternoon. This is a nice relief after all the super-hot-for-September-and-October weather we’ve been having. We’ve been breaking records daily and I’m glad to stop.

I’m going to try to get up to my art room today to see what havoc I can wreak. I finally have a day where it’s too wet to work outside and I just finished vacuuming the first floor tiles, so maybe I can play a bit. :0)
We just got our mail and put up this mailbox decoration of Catbert, the evil HR director in the Dilbert cartoon series. I was planning to put up our Jack-0-Lantern, but my husband wanted this one. I forgot to take my phone, so I’ll have to get a pic of the front the next time we go out.

We’re due for some heavy thunderstorms today and tomorrow along with cool fronts that will take the highs into the 70s and 80s. The rain is supposed to start around noon. I’M READY! Woo HOOOO!
Amber is acting much more like herself now, although she is still over-exuberant at times. I went out with her this morning, just planning to walk around with her a bit. I didn’t put her on her leash. She immediately went to a spot in the yard, put her nose down, held the pose a few seconds, then started digging furiously, having probably found a mole, vole, or other ‘ole.’ I stopped her quickly and brought her back in. She seems to be healing well now. She is still on antibiotics and eye cream and I’m washing her wounds carefully with soap and water daily.

I had to share this one with you. I was so surprised and pleased. Wonderful ‘story,’ and great surprise for the ones kind enough to stop and try to help.
