Encouragement

DrStrange.co.uk – askideas.com

My tweaking is working! Since last week I’ve lost a bit over 5 pounds. I was pleased this morning that my scales were finally taking notice. They are still smirking at me, but my plan is to make them send up balloons at some point in the future.

Since summer’s back has finally been broken, even if we revert back to Indian Summer around here, this week I’m starting back on my elliptical trainer. It’s in the garage, so the outside temperature matters. It has been way too hot and humid for me to last more than 5 minutes, so it will be interesting to see if I can do a reasonable amount today. I plan to do it MWF, and will go from there.

Onward and downward!

Matt Dixon

I went to his website after learning through an article that Matt Dixon had macular problem with his eyesight. It is incurable, and will eventually result in an inability to create these wonderful paintings for us. Happily, the condition has also spurred him to paint more!

I wrote to him, telling him how much I love his work, how sorry I was about his health problem, and hoping that this progressive disease would progress SUPER SLOWLY.

HE ANSWERED MY EMAIL! I’m still amazed that he did. He was very nice, thanking me for reaching out and saying I had brightened his day.

I learned that besides being super talented, he is a really nice man.

Tech Support

I got this from my good friend. I’m still grinning and wanted to share it –

The young woman who submitted the tech support message below (about her relationship to her husband) presumably did it as a joke. Then she got a reply that was way too good to keep to herself. The tech support people’s love advice was hilarious and genius!

The query:

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as: NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and House cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed: Desperate

The response (that came weeks later out of the blue)…

Dear Desperate,

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: I thought you loved me.html and try to download Tears 6.2.

Do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1.

Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download Snoring Loudly Beta version.

Whatever you do, DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Mother-In-Law 1.0 as it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.

In addition, please do not attempt to re-install the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly.

You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0.

Good Luck

Tech Support Team.

Wish

WoodlandManufacturing.com

I am continuing to tweak my eating habits in my determination to lose the lard. This has become a “character-building exercise” and SHOULD be listed on the list of exercises you can log each day on cronometer.com.

I had already switched my mid afternoon snack to raw veggies and a bit of dip. Now I’ll try cutting back the AMOUNT of that. I’ve been eating some no-added-sugar ice cream (a small amount while my husband has more with strawberries.) I’ll try to not have that.

Now that the weather is cooler, I’ll try to get started again on my elliptical trainer in the garage, doing a session before lunch.

Hopefully, the tweaking and moving more will get my body’s attention…

Sing It!

TheSilentConcert-badpsicsofbugsetc-fyeahshoebills.tumblr.com

It’s quite cool right now – 46 degrees F. and sunny here. It’s due to get to 74 this afternoon, so no complaints whatsoever from me. :0)

I’m pleased that the “ugly” Wonder Wart-Hog is up on the mailbox now, ready for the school kids to see it as they pass the bottom of the driveway on the bus tomorrow morning. I wonder if they’ll like it. My husband seems pleased with it, so that’s the most important.

Since I’m split between “should clean up my art room” and “should do some clean up in the yard,” I’ll try to devote half my day to each of those.

My art room is still a mess from the last ‘acrylic pour’ attempts (no success there yet), so I’d like to get it cleaned up and try to do one of the ‘impasto’ technique paintings with a pallet knife.

I’m trying to do a bit outside each time the weather is cooperative to get us ready for the winter.

Such a beautiful day! Enjoy your Sunday.

Wonder Wart-Hog is Finished!

We just went to do errands. It was NOT raining! Hooray!!!!!

We put up the new mailbox decoration as we left. Wonder Wart-Hog is one of my husband’s favorite comic book characters. This is NOT my favorite, and he was really beyond my painting capabilities, but my husband said it was, “Pretty good,” so I’m happy and relieved.

Autumn – My Second Favorite Season

tenor

I’m always happy when autumn/fall finally settles in, taking away the stiflingly hot summer temperatures and humidity that sap my strength and burn up my plants.

The wonderfully cool breezes make me rush to open front and back doors so the house can be aired out, the air conditioning turned off, bringing the outside in.

Unless it’s raining, my energy increases and I come to life again, enjoying working in the yard, cleaning things up for the winter, even enjoying all the leaves to gather.

My big project this autumn is plotting to grind up the leaves to HEAVILY mulch my elephant ear plants once I have to cut the leaves off. Last year I dug them up, put them in our garage in peat moss, as directed. That was a dismal failure, causing me to have to order new plants. This year I’m hoping that I can put a heavy enough mulch in the planter that the ears will happily go through our winter and bloom again in the spring.

Meanwhile, I’ll look forward to fires in the fireplace when we’re cozily in for the evening, coffee, or maybe hot chocolate, music or a good book, maybe an art project.

I love this beautiful season.

Massage Day!

Thinkstock Photos-American Kennel Club

Today is the day for October’s massage. My body is almost smiling in anticipation.

Even with my old lady yoga stretching, my body won’t really relax until Lynn Moody 479-629-7601 uses her magic hands and arms to find all the knots I’ve built up since last time. She finds the ones I can feel and even those I can’t.

I’ll drink lots of water the rest of the day and won’t be shy about taking a nap this afternoon if the sleepies visit.

I hope that you are either enjoying regular massages or will look at it as a great way to take care of yourself. In our world now, we need all the help we can get.
