When I see a yard, I imagine what it would look like with lots of flowers blooming all around, bringing color, wonderful scents, and joy. When David Zinn sees a sidewalk or a concrete wall, he sees characters telling their stories. I love spending time in his world.
“Clarence places small pebbles in festive boxes so they can feel special for a while.”“Daisy’s Maxim – Sleep through the showers – Wake up to flowers.”“Fergus has a knack for growing bright blooms in forgotten places.”
“Blockhead Beagle”“Griselda can keep your coffee warm indefinitely, but getting it back will cost you a cruller.”“Ronan and Pete want to borrow a compass.”“Well, at least someone is excited to see snow.”“Yet another terrible lizard thwarted by the teething of the shrew.”

“David Zinn was a freelance commercial illustrator for more than twenty years until he picked out some sidewalk chalk to “work” outdoors on a beautiful day. Since then his work has appeared on streets around the United States and as far away as Taiwan, Sweden, Germany, France and Holland. He is the author of Temporary Preserves and Underfoot Menagerie and has been featured in The Guardian, Business Insider, and the Los Angeles Times, among others. Zinn lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.” ~ Google.com
Curtis and Jordin are photographers by trade. Curtis is a sketch artist by hobby. He creates sketches that clearly show his love for his wife and children doing ordinary things. Sometimes the sketches make me cry – both from the actual sketch and what he SAYS about them.
I’ve done several posts about this couple. If you’re interested, please scroll down to Curtis Wiklund Sketches for US in the list of categories to the right of this post.
