I’ve been remiss in giving you only my personal impressions of Thailand and Chiang Mai so far. I intend to give you some real information about the country and the city in a series designed to show you the other side.

Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand and formerly known as Siam, is a vibrant country located in the heart of Mainland Southeast Asia. Known for its tropical climate, rich cultural heritage, and world-renowned hospitality, the country spans roughly 513,115 square kilometers and is home to nearly 66 million people.

• Official Language: Thai, though English is widely understood in tourist regions and business sectors.
• Currency: Thai Baht (THB).
• Key Borders: Shares land boundaries with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia

🗓️ Weather & Travel Seasons

• Cool & Dry (November to February): The peak tourism season with pleasant, milder temperatures.
• Hot & Dry (March to May): The warmest months of the year, marked by the famous Songkran (Thai New Year) water festival in April.
• Rainy / Monsoon (June to October): Tropical downpours occur, but traveling during this low season offers fewer crowds and lower accommodation prices. [1, 2]
