I just got back from the cafe. I had a good time. I finished another 100-page sketchbook today. I’ll paint the last two sketches in it tomorrow and see if I can finish them to show you. I did one sketch in the new book that is totally abstract. I love the colors and I have no idea if I can do it justice, trying to capture the feel of it.

Here’s the sketch I finished today. I think I told you what a happy sight it was when we were visiting Harvey in ICU at the hospital when I passed a locker room for the staff. It was FILLED with plush toys on keychains. I hope you can get an idea of it here. Even big, brawly-looking guys have plush toys on their backpacks here. I love it!

Yesterday I met a lady named Heidi who was here visiting. She asked to see my stuff. She sat and we had the best visit. She does collage and had some samples with her. I loved the 3-D-ness of it. She did all kinds of things career-wise and had traveled extensively. She was from the States but described herself as a ‘nomad’ now. She’ll be here for about 9 more days. I hope to see her again before she leaves.

I visited with the owner of the cafe today. She is a small, pretty, bubbly woman who is a joy to know. She was gathering the ingredients to try a new cake today. She said if it turned out well, she would bring me a piece to try. My mouth is watering already for my session there tomorrow… 😋

I did my walking at the gym this morning and then a session of yoga stretches before I went to the cafe. It feels good to be over my sore throat and feeling mostly back to normal now. I want to start trying to use the stairs this week to go UP – if only one floor of it.

  1. Ah, the stair climbing, Linda! Bravo!
The cake sounds good. The lockers delightfully presented!
I am glad you got to visit with a nomadic artist from the stated and meet the cafe owner! What a wonderful day!

    • The stair climbing will progress slowly, but I want to make that part of my routine. Right now, only the DOWN part is routine. I’m glad you liked the lockers sketch. Such a happy surprise in what I consider a scary place. I just love spending time at the cafe. I met some friends at the elevator on the way to the cafe today. He said, “On the way to the office?”I laughed and nodded. I absolutely love my time at the cafe.

Great to follow U . & know U R doing very well! Congrats on the great weight trimming ( never say ‘lost’ as we always keep looking for the “lost” item or ‘dropped’ as we will pick up whatever we drop!)especially weight! I hope you & your son can take the “factory tour” as it’s so interesting & inspiring to see the various crafts people at work from the hand painted umbrellas to the silk production & all in between .. fantastic. Am assuming the major hotels would have the info & start/end point. I know u will be fascinated w/ the many areas. Lace making, furniture carving, silk (feeding the worms to the finished fabric) , metal work & umbrella making & pottery too. Well worth the day! Might check it out, especially now you are much stronger! Even if u can’t go immediately. Know u r in my daily 🙏🏻 s as is Harvey. Love your positive & happy attitude.

    • Thank you for your wonderful note, Carol! I’ll check out the ‘factory tour.’ Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds like I could spent much more than a day there, juices flowing over all the creativity. Thank you for your prayers. I love hearing from you! Take care.

Sounds like a great day for you. Your office at the cafe. That sounds good. You get to meet some interesting people and enjoy sketching, as well. Sounds like a win-win for you. The lockers look great. (Donna)

    • It WAS a great day, thanks Donna. It has the feel of a student union I had in college, where I could be out with people, even with no interaction. Somehow that atmosphere makes me more productive. I’m glad you think the lockers sketch was okay. It was such a happy thing to see in what is a scary place for me.
