GETTING THE LARD OFF PROGRESS REPORT – to date, I’m down 94 lbs and almost 92 inches from my heaviest and widest. I’m finally to my goal weight. I’m 5’4″ and shrinking and I this morning I weighed 111. I’m trying to stay in a 3 pound range of 110 now, monitoring my various ‘numbers’, watching my portions, and making changes as needed to stay here.
My biggest challenge is to undo the damage being in the hospital and dying twice a year ago did to me. It’s amazing how much that messes you up. Trust me, you don’t want to do it. I had significant hearing loss with accompanying balance issues plus I have the normal getting older issues of stamina, flexibility, strength, etc. I am working on getting back into my regimen after having the ‘cold from Hell’ for over a week.
Brian and I got to the gym this morning. I walked my mile, but I didn’t feel steady enough to do it without holding on to the handlebars of the treadmill. I will give it a better try tomorrow.
This afternoon I will do my water bottle exercises for the first time in a week. I may do a shortened version, but I WILL get back into my routine!

I had ‘firsts’ yesterday and today on my art! Yesterday I was sitting at a table on the side of the cafe. All of a sudden there was a tapping on the glass beside me. A muslim woman (I’m assuming that, as she was dressed head to toe in grey dress, head covering, etc.) Her face was not covered, however. She had a huge smile on her face and pointed to the bird I was sketching (above.) She made a thumbs up gesture and smiled again. Then she pointed to her camera. I said ‘yes’ and she took a picture. Made the thumbs up gesture again and left. I walked 3 inches off the ground the rest of the day.
Today I had a long time Internet friend ask me for a favor. He wanted me to make a birthday painting for a friend of his who is getting married. His wife to be is having a birthday on the 3rd, and he asked my friend was who did the drawings he had been shown. Long story short, I just did the base painting on a birthday painting and will finish up details at the cafe this afternoon so I can send it to my friend today. 😁

Yesterday we visited my husband. He was alert and glad we came. He was drinking the tiny bottle of good-for-the-digestion stuff we bring him. All of a sudden he stopped, looked at me and said, “You’re wonderful.” That’s it. He went back to drinking. And I sat there, having melted into a puddle for seeing my husband for a few seconds. Otherwise, he was mentally back over 40 years ago when we visited a place called Tate Mountain in North Georgia. He wanted his notebook and I gave him a pen. He wanted to try to draw a diagram of the layout of the place. He was quite engrossed. Though his hand shook, we were able to calm the tremors by merely putting our hand over his for a few seconds and he would continue. The finished drawing wasn’t meaningful, and his mumbling about dams and bedrooms didn’t make much sense, but this is the definition of a good visit now.

Ah and sigh, about Harvey. A puddle indeed!
Love the thank you cards, the lady wanting your picture with sketch AND your birthday commission sketch! Loads of us love you and your sketches, Linda! Yay!!
I hear you about maintaining your weight now and yes, that’s great!
I am on day 3 today of doing range of motion strength exercises with an aussie girl via video. Her plan is called Move Method. Her name is Vanja. I will show you my latest short and her link is in the description:

Good for you on Day 3 of the motion strength exercises!!! I’m proud of your efforts, Sweet Sheila. Thanks for the kind words about the cards and the happy day. I’m going to TRY to walk on the treadmill tomorrow without holding on – at least part of the time. I used to be doing that full time until I got sick. I think a lot of it might be a confidence thing. I’ll see how it goes. You go, girl!

Ah, thank you so much, Linda! Yes, this Vanja moves protocol I am doing retrains our nervous system. It builds confidence within that more than in our psyche. I have never been able to do a back bend for example, but she says with the right training one can do anything. I’m definitely getting stronger just 5 days into the squats, hangs, and full range shoulder work, so we’ll see!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I know you are proud of all of your accomplishments, as well you should be. Losing the weight is fantastic, and I would imagine that you feel better and lighter, too. It takes real commitment to diet and exercise to accomplish your goal. Although, I tell people not to think of it as a diet but as a lifestyle change. Diet sounds like something you are forced to do, as lifestyle change is something you choose.
Your sketches are always amazing, and it is no wonder the woman wanted to take a picture. Being asked to paint a picture for a friend for someone’s birthday is an honor, I am sure.
Another glimpse of your Harvey was a good nugget to put in your memory basket to look back on. (Donna)
