Saturday Thoughts 8-6-2025

I just love this painting. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I can almost hear them playing and singing. I hope it makes YOU smile, too!

This is my dad. His birthday is today. He took pride in the fact that in 1918, the year he was born, it was Labor Day. He thought that was very appropriate. He would have been 107 today. He was super creative, ahead of his time on a lot of things. He ran a one-man advertising agency in Tulsa, Oklahoma, winning advertising awards and local recognition for his radio advertisements. I miss his sarcasm and his great sense of humor.

My cleaning lady came a bit earlier than usual, and I was just getting ready to leave to be out of her way while she cleans. I thanked her for doing such a wonderful job for me, and she totally surprised me by hugging me! I hugged her hard in return. When I came back later she had left these flowers for me!!! I’m already spoiled by having her help, and hugs and flowers are simply priceless. 🤗

We went to see my husband, Harvey, in the nursing home this morning. He looked at us as if we were “invading” or something when we entered. He asked, “What are you doing here?” I replied, “We came to see YOU, of course. Is that all right?” He laid his head in my hand and said, “It’s wonderful.” Then, though we tried to talk to him, he made it clear he wanted to watch TV, so we gave up and left. He isn’t hurting, he knew who we were, and he had something he wanted to do, so that’s all good.

I have too many good things to do this afternoon, so after I finish sharing with you, I’ll get to at least one of them. Have a great day!

Beautiful you sharing Saturday thoughts. Wonderful a girl playing piano 🎹😄. I like. Good news to your father’s birthday today. It was born on labour Day. Nice flowerpot. You visited nursing home. It’s a good improvement ,He laid his head in my hand and said, “It’s wonderful.” Then, though we tried to talk to him, he made it clear he wanted to watch TV,. God bless you,Linda.

I love the picture of the girl and cat! That did make me smile.

Your dad sounds like he was an amazing and very talented man, and, apparently, a great Dad. Thank you for sharing that.

The flowers from your cleaning lady were beautiful. I know you very much appreciated the hug, as human touch is very important!

It must have been somewhat bittersweet to see your Harvey but have him not want to talk. At least, like you said, he is not in pain, and that is a good thing.

I hope you enjoy/enjoyed your day. (Donna)

    • Hi, Donna. Thanks for writing. Isn’t it amazing how some art and music can bring out intense emotions in us? I loved that painting, too. I was very lucky in parents and I miss them every day. I have so many wonderful memories of both of them, though, and I feel them, from time to time, particularly when I’m sticking my neck out, doing something outside my comfort zone, cheering me on. The people I’ve met here are SO nice. It is really heartwarming. I am trying to accept the fact that Harvey not being in pain and feeling diverted by any activity may be all we have going forward.
