Can You Hear Me Now?

Just returned from seeing the 2nd ear doctor.

He couldn’t find anything wrong with my ears.
He did suggest, after asking me for more information about my hospitalization and surgeries, that there were a number of things that could have affected my ability to hear, but none are fixable.
He wanted me to do another audiogram and see a specialist at the hospital with which he is affiliated.

Brian and I agreed that probably nothing could be done and we already had a recent audiogram, that we will now research hearing aids. I do know that for the short time I used the computer headphones Brian got me, I was delighted to be able to “turn up sound” on my computer, the TV, or even on my phone.
So now we will see what is available and go from there.

One day maybe I will say, “YES! I can hear you now!”🙏

  1. Isn’t it odd that you and I are both going through so much to fix our ears??? I have been trying to clear my left ear (though they say it’s in my brain not my ear) of tinnitus. And you can’t hear much at all?
I hope we both find answers, Linda.

  2. Linda, it is possible to experience ear problems after a heart attack, including hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). This is due to the connection between heart health and ear health, where inadequate blood flow to the inner ear can damage the delicate hair cells responsible for transmitting sound, leading to hearing issues. Unfortunately, damaged hair cells in the inner ear do not regenerate, so hearing loss resulting from this damage can be permanent. An audiologist should assess the severity of the hearing loss and determine the best treatment options, which will probably include hearing aids.

    • Thank you for the information, Susy. The first audiologist said the hearing loss wasn’t significant enough to warrant further action. I was on the borderline re hearing aids, did not have a tumor. The loss was exactly the same in both ears.
We will see what we find at the hearing aid place and decide from there. Thanks so much. I appreciate hearing from you (no pun intended).
