The past couple of days have been challenging – good and bad.
One thing that has been getting on my nerves a bit is having to try to write to you here via my phone rather than getting on my computer. All kinds of problems associated with this, so even though I am doing the best I can, I appreciate your patience.
Our next delivery of IKEA furniture is the 14th and I have asked that we put together the computer table first and get my computer up and going as soon as possible.
Our visit with Harvey today was heart wrenching. He didn’t recognize us, care that we were there, and didn’t try to communicate, so it basically a wasted trip. The worst part of this stroke is the cognitive decline and lack of ability to communicate.
We stopped at the immigration office on the way home and got Harvey’s medical visa. This makes him legal! It is renewable every 3 months. We are still waiting for something on mine, but we are making slow, steady progress on trying to get my retirement visa which we can renew in one year.
The auction on our home in AR was yesterday. Mixed results on that. Brian is in contact with the auctioneer to find out what the next step is. After 37 years, it is hard to walk away, even though the upkeep on the place had become way too much for us. Part of me is relieved – the other part sad.
More good news – as of next Friday I will have a lady who will clean my condo weekly! She cleans Brian’s place and has just agreed to do mine. We got a bunch of cleaning supplies today. I have never had anyone come clean before 😀
I got a massage this morning. She found all kinds of knots in my back and neck. It was wonderful. AND she agreed to do weekly massages on Fridays at 10:00! Spoiled, happy me!!!

I’m glad some things are going right, to help lift your spirits up. I know, can feel your sadness about the old home and Harvey’s current condition. I can imagine (since I know how sad the “letting go” of the house part was for us in 2009). It was the best thing for us back then though.
And yes, I couldn’t imagine you and Harvey being stuck up on that ridge if he had of had the stroke there! Especially during bad weather! Ugh.
We have often said God (or someone) had been looking out for us because we had moved to a condo a mile from an osteopathic hospital a year before Richard had a stroke! It made it more convenient to get him there and for me to visit him at that time.
But I couldn’t wait to get out of there a year later after dealing with multiple hurricanes and power loss! Thus, we are where we are now, living next to my daughter in New Hampshire. (We are adjusting though for sure and I love seeing the granddaughters anytime!)
I hope Brian sets up your computer soon. I bet he will. He’s such a good egg! ❤️🙏💙

Thanks for your caring, understanding comments, Sheila. I am so grateful that we got moved before Harvey’s stroke. There is never a GOOD time or place, but there sure are better ones, as you and Richard well know. I love it that you are close to family now. We both realize the true meaning of the word, “rich.”🤗
The new IKEA order will be here the 14th and we will put the computer table together first, then hopefully it will be a simple thing to get me up and running again. Honestly, this old broad has had to learn to use my phone for so much more than my original rare texts, then a MAC computer, and now using my phone for my blog. This old brain is getting quite a workout! And you are right – Brian is one of the best eggs there is.

I think you’re doing an awesome job of writing the blog on your phone! It’s way better than I could do, I know because I tried it (once). Also I hate that Harvey didn’t recognize you last time you went to visit. 😢 But by next time, he could recognize you again. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I don’t know when you will be reading this, but I wanted to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday, Linda! I understand how stressed you must be with Harvey’s situation, but at least, he is getting good health care! Leaving behind a life you’ve had for years is not easy, and I can attest to that when I decided to move to the US and leave my home and family behind. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one back then. Sending you a big hug and tons of good vibes! 🙂
