The voting was about even, with the black edging out the white.

The only thing everyone agreed on was that the sunglasses I had been wearing “were NOT cool.”

My son told me that he liked the white ones better, so I chose the white.
He then insisted I keep both of them so that I could switch back and forth! 🤗

We have been enjoying a really luxurious breakfast of dragon fruit from a local fruit market, scrambled eggs, and a nice salad. We come back up to my room and make mushroom tea. It’s supposed to do all kinds of good things for you. It doesn’t taste like much, but if there’s a chance it might make us healthier, I’m in.

We’ll let our food and tea settle for a bit and then we’ll go to a wonderful coffee shop we like. It’s a great place to enjoy the breeze, have a pretty hot chocolate in my case, work on your computer (maybe Brian) or look at your phone, or watch the various animals that frequent there while having a good conversation (us, not the animals).

I hate to realize that I am sexist. In the U.S. you mostly see males on motorcycles, many times with a female behind him.

I remember a hundred years or so ago, Harvey and I were newly engaged. We took off on his motorcycle down the highway. My hair was in pigtails and I had my engagement present, a shortened girl type rifle slung across my back with a strap. Heads snapped around in the cars that passed us. 🤭

Anyway, my sexism is showing because I am so surprised by the range of people on motor scooters and motorbikes in Asia. This isn’t a pastime- it’s their mode of travel. Yesterday a woman with her kids – one in front of her and two more behind, plus bags of purchases strapped on motor scooter parts or people. Young kids, women close to my age – scores of them- darting in and out between cars, bicycles, taxis, carts and walkers. It’s a whole new world. ☺️🙏.

Good your choice. As you Like! You enjoy really luxurious breakfast of dragon fruit from the local fruit market, scrambled eggs, and a nice salad. Nice you sharing your newly engaged. When your engagement present, a shortened girl type rifle slung across my back with a strap. Heads snapped around in the cars that passed us. 🤭

  3. That’s interesting and exciting, Linda! I used to love motorcycles and bikes of all sizes. Now, we simply walk and are grateful to be able to! Ha!
I love your sunglasses! I had just been looking at some white pairs though a doctor told me we don’t need them because the eyes need sun to speak to the melanin in our skin to tell it not to burn. I am sure I am oversimplifying it though! Ha!
I still have a pair of blue ones just in case it’s too bright out.
    You’re doing great!

    • Walking cannot be underestimated, Sweet Sheila. We wouldn’t last a second in a car or on a motorcycle here. I will never stop being grateful that my husband realized that this was not the place for US to drive a vehicle.
Thanks for the nice words about my new sunglasses. I’m very pleased that I can protect my eyes (my eyes water profusely without them AND my son thinks I now look “cool.” 🤭

  4. You are so right, here in the US it is mostly for pleasure when we hop upon a Harley 🙂 in other parts of the world it is necessity and not the $30,000-$50,000 fun mode of transportation one thing for sure they are even more dangerous now with the growing population and here in the states just too many crazy drivers.

    • Here the traffic isn’t fast, it’s relentless. Several lanes of motor scooters, bicycles, and motorbikes, plus cars. It is a challenge for a pedestrian to cross the street. You have to wait to cross to the center of the street, wait until the traffic goes by and then cross the rest of the street. I basically cling to Brian’s hand and be ready to walk slowly, stop, or walk fast, filling his lead.
There are crazy drivers everywhere nowadays. It’s amazing we don’t have more wrecks and fatalities. Sad.

  5. I can’t get over how well you are doing in your new surroundings! But I can see you’ve always been adventurous, with your description of you and Harvey on the motorcycle. I’d love to see a picture of that!😀😎

    • Thank you for your kind words. 🙂 I wish we had a picture of us on the cycle, too, but that was in the old days, when people had to use actual cameras to take photos, take the rolls of negatives to be developed, and wait a week or so to get the photos back. Hard to imagine- huh! 🤣
I’m mainly “rolling with things” in my new surroundings, trying not to make any more problems our son will need to deal with. I do appreciate your kind words.
