You must use bottled water for drinking or cooking.
You must concentrate on staying hydrated. We drink water with every meal and then sip water constantly throughout the day.
There is only hot water in the bathroom shower. There is hot water heater hanging on the wall of the shower that you can dial to the desired temperature.
Tap water is used for all else, including washing dishes. I was kind of shocked, but our son Brian told us that is common here. He has been doing that for 9 years and is quite healthy.
Everyone washes dishes by hand. Much of what we are eating is ordered in, so very few dishes involved. Brian cooks for us and washes the dishes right away. This is to discourage any teeny tiny ants or other bugs. Brian said if he doesn’t wash and dry all surfaces quickly, he sees the tiny ants. I saw some on the counter around the sink in our air BnB, and quickly followed his lead. None since thanks for hanging in while I am laboriously using one finger on my phone to send you one post.
Oh, yes, we even have those little ants in New Hampshire in the warmer months. I put out little ants traps and problem solved.
I hand wash our dishes too! I didn’t even use our dishwasher much when we had one. It used too much water and electricity to suit me. As well, I always had to pre-wash most dishes before putting them in, which made me feel like I might as well just wash. We mostly used our top rack of the open dishwasher as a drying rack! Ha!
But after 2010 when we moved to our RV, which we lived in for 11 years, we didn’t have a dishwasher.
Oh, and when we lived at the off grid property we didn’t have hot water either, and I still found handwashing the dishes worked out well. I would wash greasy hot pans right after cooking so they cleaned up well still using the pans residual heat.
I’m typing this on my phone with one finger too! Haha
You are doing great, Linda!

I’m learning new things every day. Right now, for example, I am laboriously typing this trying to use my thumbs like I see my son and most others doing. He says I look funny using only one finger. So now I look funny typing with my thumbs!😋

Ha! Yeah, I never have been able to type with my thumbs. I generally use my middle finger.
My husband is always amazed at how fast I type with one finger.
