Yesterday was emotional, exhausting, and wonderful.

First off, we found a home for Amber! The family is right down our road, a neighbor across the street from our good friend, Carla. Amber won the lottery on this, having a new family with kids who will shower her with love and attention, two ‘parents’ who are truly wonderful people, and even another dog to play with, a yard, etc. The dogs are already getting along! I cannot express how relieved and happy I am with this, even as I deal with pangs of ‘no-dog-staring-at-us-waiting-to-lick-our-plates’ and no dog to let out and feed this morning. This was a match sent from Heaven.

My friend Carla will take Jet (aka Monster Cat) to care for while she looks to rehome her for us. Carla is a true animal lover and will make sure Jet finds a really good family who will cherish her.
Having the pets cared for was my first concern when we decided to make the move. I was devastated when it turned out that my ‘agreement’ with our vet turned out to only be displaying their pics on their website. I wrote to him, asking him to reconsider, and still haven’t had a reply from him. This all turned out for the best yesterday.
After meeting Lisa, the woman who is part of Amber’s new family, she, Carla and I ended up in my art room. Lisa is an artist, and she showed a whole lot of interest in my supplies. She will text me when she is ready, letting me know the first of I hope will be several areas of interest and we will work something out on pricing. I’m delighted that many of the things I have gathered up there will go to someone who appreciates them and will use them happily.
Carla will also text me about things she would like from the art room and the shop. I was truly surprised when one of the things she wanted was the big slab of wood I have been using on my drafting table under my wood burning. She really likes my experiments and scratches! (This, of course, will be a ‘weird gift.’) :0)

Reminder that my Etsy site will be shut down very soon. Now is the time to order whatever you would like while we still have time to pack it and ship it to you. Depending on how things are moving here, I will shut it down at the end of next week for sure.
I got a notice that we might get my passport as early as this Friday! They will send supporting documents in another mailing. I’m assuming this time frame will be the same for my husband, since the applications went in together in the same envelope.
I’m trying to get my husband to walk around the outside of our house, hopefully building up to several times a day, so we’ll be strong enough to manage the airports on our trip. He says he will cooperate, and fingers are crossed that he keeps that promise.
I hope that you are doing well where you are, and enjoying pleasant, happy – if not ‘stellar’ days.
yea for the animals. I’m so relieved for you finding loving homes for them. So enjoying your adventures. Please keep on sending updates. The best text pal ever.

Aww, I know you are missing Amber already, but having her go to such a wonderful loving home also takes so much stress off of you! Hugs to all because this is really good news. Great for Jet too!
Very good plan about the walking so the airport doesn’t wear you out. Also, the airport has carts for toting elderly or infirmed folks around. Just ask for assistance when you check in. There’s usually an information desk right inside any airports doors.

My husband is not cooperating right now, about trying to eat strict low carb, trying to see if that makes him feel better, and walking with me. He and I walked once this morning. Then he was being objectionable, so I gave him a wide berth. THEN he insisted on making a peanut and butter sandwich while our son and I pleaded with him not to. SO. I then threatened to call our friend with the backhoe to dig a hole in the back yard for him. He finally apologized for being hard to live with today and promised to try again on the low carb. We need to be able to function at the airport one way or the other. We’re supposed to get our passports tomorrow!

Yes, old guys can be stubborn. But I an glad he has given your words a second thought. My husband is 11.5 years older than me. And your words about your husband and how you get along was what first hooked me about your blog.
I needed a fresh perspective on my husband’s ways.

I’m addicted to this guy, even if I am threatening to dig a hole in the back yard for him.
I talked with our son tonight about a plan to get him as ready for the marathon airplane flights as possible. He has agreed – again to try to cooperate with eating low carb and walking with me.

You’re right about Amber. The family who has taken her is perfect. They have kids who are thrilled and want to give her lots of love and attention. A fence yard she can be in when necessary. Another dog to play with (they’re already getting along), and I feel she won the lottery on families with them. I’m am SO relieved we found them. It just gives me a twang when a time in the day comes when something is due to happen with her and she’s not there. Jet (Monster Cat) is still with us, but may go with my friend Carla tomorrow. She’ll make sure a good home is found, so I don’t have to worry there, either. I am one very lucky lady.

Yes, I learned that “timing” thing when our second shih-tzu passed. I began meditating instead of walking him. It helped. I realized I was addicted to the habit of him, as well as his presence. Somehow, that helped. Plus, there was no replacing him. He was my best boy ever. (Fur baby that is.)
Hugs!

Habits are extremely powerful. Hard to build an hard to break. You have to be determined. One of the hardest changes is that we won’t have pets in Thailand, unless maybe fish or a bird or something like that. This will be a beautiful character building chance for us.

Ah, habits can lead us to an awareness of our limiting beliefs and/or distractions. I just happened to read this article right after reading your comment:

Yay! I’m so glad Amber found a wonderful home! And Jet will, too!
I missed a few days of reading blogs, and I see I’m reading yours in reverse. 😂

It must be a bit confusing. Sorry about that. Everything has been happening at once around here. The biggest concern was finding good homes for Amber and Jet. Amber has won the lottery with her new home. She has a beautiful family, kids to play with, dogs to play with, and everyone is happy. I am so relieved. Carla will make sure that Jet’s adoptive people are good ones. She is an animal lover and reads people well.

No it wasn’t confusing, I had just started at the most recent posts and worked my way back, did that with a couple different blogs tonight 😂
