Amber went out with my husband for her last outing of the night about 1:30 this morning. At about 2:00am my husband woke me, asking for my help.
To make the story shorter, Amber saw something, reacted, caught my husband not paying close enough attention, and pulled him down and into one of our brick planters.
He was bleeding in several places and didn’t know if he had broken or dislocated his finger. I tried to clean him up, but couldn’t get the bleeding under control behind his left ear. His finger was also hurting badly, so we ended up in the ER in Fort Smith.
We left about 5:30 after x-rays and CT scans, plus 6 stitches behind his left ear covered by bandages and vet wrap, a ‘re-located’ pinkie finger, with him seriously out of patience and wanting to get home.
We slept in our recliners from 6 to 9. I talked to our son via conference call this morning, catching him up and letting him know we are the worse for wear but will rest and heal.
I will spend the day washing all the bloody clothes, towels, washcloths, carpeted stair steps and other places, and trying to get our medical supplies back where they belong.
Scary, exhausting time. Amber has on her innocent face and can’t see what all the hubbub is about.
I’ll talk to you again tomorrow. Take care.

Oh, but you did, Christine. Healing thoughts make a world of difference. We are doing better this afternoon. We’re being very careful of his ear, and had to cut his shirt off rather than bother the side of his head. His finger is good in the splint, and the relocation the doctor did hurt, but gave him immediate relief. He’s wearing a splint to keep it in place while it ‘rests.’ We get the stitches out in a about 10 days. Thanks for writing and sending the healing thoughts.

sorry to hear of your scary news! So glad nothing broken! My spouse is still not back to ‘normal’ after his hip broke & fall last 18 Dec! Been home only 2 1/2 weeks now. His Parkinson’s has taken off at full gallop during hospital & rehab stay😔as we age daily activities can sometimes be our undoing! May he mend quickly. Happy Easter

Thanks for your kind words. It sounds like you well know how our world can change due to a sudden change in health or an accident. I’m sure you have your hands more than full. I hear you that his Parkinson’s has ramped up. I hope that now he’s home that will tame down some. You and your husband will be in my thoughts. Take good care of yourself while you’re trying to take care of him.

😱 What an ordeal! I’m glad it wasn’t worse, but still it’s bad enough! Hope he’s feeling better soon!

Thanks so much. He just woke up from a nap and is feeling lots better. We had to cut his shirt off, not wanting to bother the stitches and sore ear. The relocating of his finger and the splint have made it so his finger doesn’t hurt at all. Thanks for writing. I appreciate you.

Thank you. I appreciate it very much. He is not in pain now. I don’t know how well he’ll be able to sleep, though with his ear. Hahahaha I almost said we would play it by ear – really inappropriate. Only 3 hours sleep last night. Thanks for writing.
