The Love of Books

ThoughtCo

I’m enjoying re-rereading part of my collection of Nora Roberts books lately. Happily, I have a good number of them. Diving into them is a wonderful escape from the challenges of our world, personal problems, or just to revisit a wonderful experience, learn something new, relax.

I am going through my books once again, culling out those that I probably won’t read again. I will sell some of them and donate the rest to our public library which usually has fundraisers a couple of times each year.

Since I am definitely not Suzy Homemaker, I have gotten on some old clothes, have dust rags and damp cloths ready to clean up my shelves as I gather books to get rid of and attempt to reorganize my collection.

It seems I am ruthless each time I do this, but I have to admit there are books that will be someone else’s choice on ‘redistribution’ after I am gone.

I’m so lucky to be rich in books! :0)

  1. Nora Roberts books are amazing ! I used to read her books all the time !! I have been doing a lot of the same, purging. Books are the hardest thing for me to purge but I do not re-read books very often, so there’s very few that I keep that are fiction. Course there’s always a few that I really love. I’ve also been shoveling out my studio and organizing and cleaning. Kind of trying to clean house and figure out what I want to do next year.
My YouTube channel is still not really taking off, and I’m trying to figure out what to do to change things up so I’m more successful with it. When you spend hours on a video you really want people to watch it !
But it does feel good to purge and to know other people will get to enjoy the things that you’ve decided to let go of. Sometimes I send boxes to people, I let my kids have stuff and I donate stuff !

    • We are on the same page here, Stephie. My art room is the hardest thing for me to go through. I find something that sparks interest and get lost making something, rather than purging…

      • I’m sorry about the YouTube channel. It’s hard to know what will help. I’m hoping that my Amazon Handmade stuff will grab interest, but only time will tell with the things we try. The best thing to do is to keep trying something new. Good luck to you. Did I tell you how wonderful it is to hear from you?
