“Love is the Flower…”

“Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow.” – John Lennon

This nice bunch of lilies is almost finished for the year. It looks like a lily bouquet to me, and I love the rich color.

Last year, once the summer was in full swing, I sprinkled a bunch of zinnia seeds in the planters. Not many of them came up, so I was really surprised to see volunteers all around the planters and across the front yard!

I don’t know what this plant is, but it’s perennial and it seems to really like it in this planter.

Phlox and periwinkles.

Two colors of impatiens, plus phlox about to bloom and iris.

“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.” – Georgia O’Keeffe

Last of the Flowers (Maybe)

flowers1

As I was cleaning out and mulching flower beds today, I gathered some of our last flowers of the season so that we could enjoy them inside. I thought you might enjoy seeing them, too.  We have pink hydrangeas,

A Trip Around the Yard

The temperatures have FINALLY gone down a bit and we can breathe when we’re outside. Another 10 degrees down or so and I’ll be in heaven. It says my “perfect” temperature about three days a year here in Arkansas. :0)

I worked in the yard a bit to celebrate the gorgeous day.

I took some pictures of the things still in bloom, enjoying each one. I thought that you might enjoy them, too.

Tour of Remaining Flowers

At this time of the year, despite our irrigation system, the flowers are pretty well spent. It just gets too hot here for most to make it to frost. I cherish the few flowers that are strong enough to still be blooming and giving us such pleasure.

hydrangeas1

Most of the hydrangea are gone now, and the greenery droops badly during the day, but we have a few blooms that looked particularly nice.

prettylittleblueflowers

I don’t know what the name of these pretty little blue flowers are, but they fill in the planter nicely under the tulip tree.

impatiens

Our Impatiens are not at their peak, but they continue to bloom in two pots on either side of our front door.

zinnias1

Even my husband remarked on how he liked the color of the zinnias that are thriving right now. I sprinkled the seeds in the planter in-between our regular plants so that they would hopefully bloom when the weather made the other things stress out.
