We had a varied day today.
We visited Harvey. He was lucid and positive for about the first 5 minutes, then got tired. This caused delusions, paranoia, some hostility – but he basically seemed a bit more positive today. He had no memory of going to the hospital for all the tests yesterday and demanded an ‘orange malt.’ He did know who we were, but kept talking about bagging everything up, buying his bed, wheelchair and some other stuff, and going back with a lady named Janelle to Tulsa. (We lived in Tulsa until 1987, and I have no clue who Janelle is.) He said he felt good, nothing hurt, and then said he wanted a portable x-ray machine to take a picture of his foot. He said all his toes were broken. Brian manipulated his toes, had him bend them, etc. Harvey said none of that hurt, but still insisted on the “portable x-ray.”
We stopped at the big mall on the way home. I got two blouses and two pairs of slacks that are MUCH lighter weight than my jeans, and so will be a lot cooler. They are also smaller, which brings a small smile to this old face.
Speaking of my old face, it turns out that the touch-to-open app on my phone won’t accept my thumb print more than half the time because my thumbs are wrinkled. I realize I’m old and I have a LOT of wrinkles, but I’ve never been criticized for having wrinkled thumb prints before. The solution is to update my phone to one that will use a 3-D image of my face. It’s wrinkled, too, but the phone doesn’t seem to mind that.
And speaking of my phone, we tried to open a bank account, only to be snafued by the guy who changed out Harvey’s and my SIM cards mixing up our passport numbers. The one on my phone showed Harvey’s passport number, so we couldn’t open the account. Sigh.
So back we go tomorrow to the Internet/phone people to get the SIM cards done correctly, and then probably back to the bank to see if we pass muster this time.
We are handling LOADS of details in as timely a fashion, juggling as best we can. Sometimes it makes you grind your teeth a bit at ALL the hoops through which we need to jump to get what we need…
