From my new “Birds of a Feather” greeting card series.

I had fun creating this new series of handmade greeting cards. The whimsical birds are made of feathers with paint accents and then pastels. 9 cards with different designs and quotes. Blank on the inside for your message.

Since summer is in full swing here now with heat indices in the 100s, I’m just going to check on the tomatoes, do some watering, and call it a day outside. I’m thinking of getting back to my wood burning efforts today.

Yesterday I MADE myself do my yoga practice after only doing yard work for quite awhile now. Our new cat, Jet, noticed me down on my mat in the living room, came over to say “hi,” and pounce on my stomach. I said ‘hi,’ scratched her, and then started to get back to my stretch. She decided that she hadn’t had enough attention and bit me, shattering my ‘calm.’ I hope she loses interest in me.

I bought some new shoes which were delivered yesterday. I’m wearing them for the first time this morning. They are Joomra Women’s Minimalist Trail Running Barefoot Shoes | Wide Toe Box | Zero Drop. I don’t remember where I got the URL for their website, but actually went to Amazon to purchase them. So far, I love them. They are really comfortable and that’s saying something for someone who feet that are essentially uncomfortable much of the time, regardless of the shoes I wear. It’ll be interesting to see how they do on the driveway, since I have problems with skidding on the gravel, trying to avoid falling on my head. (The problem is much less than it was with the new work and gravel on the driveway).

We will run some errands later, but thankfully we don’t have a bunch.

Have a wonderful, albeit hot, day.

Happy Saturday 7-23-2022

yougottobekidding.wordpress.com

I hope your Saturday is off to a good start.

It’s supposed to get to 105 F. actual temperature here this afternoon, so we’re planning to stay inside for the most part.

I made spaghetti last night, using Rao’s for the sauce base. My husband won’t even consider eating ‘zoodles’ (zucchini spiralized), so I sneakily used Banza Spaghetti (made from chickpeas -shhhhh!) It’s better for us in several ways. My husband complimented the spaghetti, even asking if there was enough for leftovers. :0)

Today is

  • laundry day,
  • change the sheets day,
  • pay the bills day,
  • play in the art room day,
  • yoga practice day,
  • listen to music for awhile day,
  • read part of a book day,
  • maybe take a nap day,
  • vacuum the equivalent of another dog from the tiles and carpet day,
  • enjoy life day.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Heat Index of WHAT?

I just looked up our temperatures today with the humidity and came up with a heat index of 114.

I just came in from checking on my husband out in the shop while walking our 5 month old lab puppy, Amber, for the 3rd time this morning. She jumped in the kiddie pool twice on this outing and then drank a LOT of water when we came in.

I’m hoping that I can catch a break on weather and do some weed spraying this evening.  I’m supposed to watch for a time we have 48 hours without rain. Yeah. Right. Usually in Arkansas in August there would be NO problem – the grass should be brown and crunchy, the ground dry as dust, things dying even with our irrigation system going. This year has been a record on rainfall, I think . It’s certainly the rainiest July and August we remember, and we’ve lived on top of this ridge line for some 30 years.

So – I’m going to go with the flow and read more of my book in the comfort of A/C with a cup of coffee or maybe some iced tea this afternoon.

Hoping to assume my new alias, “Mad Weed Killer” tonight, I hope your Sunday is enjoyable.
