It was overcast when we got up. We ate breakfast and did our morning chores, opened up the front and back doors to enjoy the morning breezes and went into the office.

I looked out the window a few minutes later to see DARK skies and branches whipping around. We’re having quite a storm now! I shut the front door, but left the one to the porch open. How quickly things change!

The tech is coming sometime today to look at our tankless water heater. We are still without hot water and are hoping he can get it going again. If not, we’ll have to get another one ASAP and installed while having to resort to wash cloths and cold water hair washings. Happily, our machines, like the dishwasher and the clothes washer, heat up the water used, so we’re not completely back in the Stone Age.

On a happier note, the replacement battery pack we ordered for our cordless vacuum cleaner arrived yesterday. We got it installed and everything is on the charger. I’ll try it later today to make sure it works as it should. I’m delighted. I also got the full size vacuum cleaner’s filter back in and the clean canister put back on the machine. My husband took a large piece out to the shop and used the air compressor to blow LOTS of dirt out of it, so it’s almost like it has been to a refurbishment center. :0)

The lady who is handling whether we’re under warranty for the bed pump is to be back in the office Monday, so we should get an answer soon after.

Maybe we’ll get things back together around here one of these days.

Tuesday Thoughts 12-13-2022

I had a truly WONDERFUL video conference call chat with our son, Brian, this morning. I just loved seeing his face and his great smile as we talked. I got to wish him a Happy Birthday almost in-person. He is well and happy, involved in all kinds of new music projects, starting another class in Thai next week, and generally loving his life. His newest goal is to try to start a meditation center for beginners so that he can work with them, sharing what has worked with him, helping them to be as content as he is. I love the idea.

We got our mail, went for my husband’s haircut, then put the trash can in the back of the truck to bring it back up to the garage before the heavy rain started. I’m about to go shut the garage door now, as I’m hearing thunder and it’s gotten really dark outside. I’m HOPING that the fact the temperature is only 58 degrees will just keep this to heavy rain, rather than hail, wind, heavy rain, flying hair balls, and possible tornadoes that are forecast for the day.

It’s time for me to fix lunch, but I wanted to check in here first. We’ll batten down the hatches and be happy that we have a warm, dry place to weather the storm.

I hope that you are safe and well today.

Storm

We had a really big storm yesterday evening, all night, and into the morning with lots and lots of rain, strong, gusty winds, lightning, thunder, and flying hairballs. We were fine inside, but I was worried about what we would find outside this morning.

I was most worried that our greenhouse would be damaged or gone. Thankfully, it came through fine. I just spent an hour securing the greenhouse cover where the wind was whipping it around. I did fine for awhile, then the stapler jammed. I brought it in to my fix-it husband, who declared it unrepairable. I got another from the shop, but it was so stiff my arthritic hands were screaming, so we’ll try to find a kinder-to-old-folks staple gun soon.

I’ve brought everything that was in the greenhouse inside now, since we’re having regular freezes and we have no heat out there.

Here is what I brought into the dining area – some tall lettuce plants that thankfully haven’t bolted yet, some little celery plants in soil in front of the lettuce plants, and some new celery plants in water in the while bowl  beside the window. I’m going to continue harvesting lettuce for our salads. I have no clue what I’m doing with the celery, but I’m having a blast watching them grow. :0)
