I hope you’re feeling happy and energized this morning. The rain washed our area clean overnight and it’s overcast now. More rain tonight and all day tomorrow, but it’s NOT raining now, NOT snowing now, NOT icing now, and there are NOT any flying hairballs, so absolutely no complaints. :0)

I’m feeling very lucky that we are retired and not having to report to work someplace on a regular basis. Neither of us sleeps ‘regularly,’ as we used to. We catch cat naps to try to get enough rest, simply falling asleep in our chairs, even when we’re trying not to. My husband’s sleep cycle is really wonky lately. He was up this morning at around 3 and was reading, waiting for me to get up. I went to get more coffee awhile ago and he was asleep in his chair with his tablet in his lap. Later he gave in and put his towel over his eyes, his chair stretched out.

Yesterday when we came back from running errands, we noticed our spring-like our yard looked. The daffodils are blooming their heads off all around the yard – some in the ground and others dotted around in planters. Then we have redbuds in bloom, the tulip tree, the forsythia, etc. Makes for a really nice ‘welcome home.’

I hope you enjoy your day today.

Spring is on the Way

I’m really hoping we aren’t blown away overnight here because I would hate to miss the coming spring. I just walked around the yard a bit, taking a few pics, feeling my heart lift as I saw so many signs that winter is almost behind us.

This display is particularly heartwarming because years ago I dug up all the daffodils here and relocated them all around the yard. Little did I know that somehow you CAN’T dig them all up. They just keep coming. Isn’t that wonderful?

This is all by itself in one of the trio planters that divide our front yard from the driveway. I just LOVE the color.

Can you hear them trumpeting, “Spring is on the way!” ?

Drinking in Spring

We’re going to have a nice display of twice-blooming deep purple iris soon. As you can see, I need to clean up this planter a lot. I’ll try to thin these out, moving them elsewhere around the yard.
The wisteria is looking better each day. There is a small redbud tree behind the wisteria, plus a forsythia blooming behind it, too.
A display like this really brings up my spirits!

Sending Spring Your Way

The purple iris bloom first. As they fade, the yellow ones start.

This is now my husband’s favorite flower, so each time the blooms are spent, I split some and plant them in another place in the yard.

The wisteria has given us a nice display this year. We’re trying to get it to go up into the tree on the opposite end of the wood pile. We actually saw some blooms up there this year! Our rose bushes were looking sad at the end of the season, so I cut them  WAAAAAY  back, figuring they would either like it or croak.  They seem to be happy with lots of buds right now.

We have some yellow blooms since this picture was taken. I’ll see if I can get a pic to share with you later.

I love this time of year!
