More Cindy Cutler-Awrey Art

Can you see me grinning? I can almost FEEL the wind pounding these poor birds as they make their way across the shoreline.

I feel almost as if I had gone back to the beach. It’s a good thing I don’t live near the ocean, though, because I would want to sit there – hoping a sandpiper would come closer – instead of getting any work done.

I’m glad I can look at these, and Cindy’s other work whenever I need a boost. :0)

End of our Vicarious Vacation

“Beach Sunrise” – MaryLou Lewis

ML is always up even before the crack of dawn. If sunrise came at around 8am, I would be up to greet the day, too… :0)

“A New Day Begins” – MaryLou Lewis

She combines love of sunrises with a good walk, a really good thing I would like to emulate, as well, because I know my body would thank me – eventually.

“Birth of a New Day” – MaryLou Lewis

We have received beautiful sunrises and have gotten to watch some sandpipers skittering around on the sand. Life just couldn’t be much better.

“Nature’s Beauty” – MaryLou Lewis

A beautiful gift from a very nice lady. I hope it was relaxing to HER, as it was to ME. Thanks, ML.

Vicarious Vacation!

“Sunrise at Topsail” – MaryLou Lewis

My sister-in-law is at the beach as I type this, finally getting a much-needed-and-deserved vacation. This was the way the day greeted her this morning.

One of my very favorite things is a memory I cherish from years ago when my husband and I drove up Highway 101 in California. He was in the Marines and trained the the Marine Corp base in San Diego, so he wanted to show me all the Marines exercising in the hot sun and the plaque erected in his honor proclaiming that he trained there. We didn’t see either of those, but I enjoyed a glimpse of the base anyway. :0)

While on the trip we passed the sight of beach after beach area. I made him stop every so often so that I could drink in the feel of the beach, watch the awe-inspiring ocean and people body surfing, etc. I had never seen the sweet little birds on the long long legs that skittered across the sand. I found they were called Sandpipers. They made me laugh as I watched them. It’s a sight I’ll never forget.

“Sandpipers at Topsail 1” – MaryLou Lewis

MaryLou is nice enough to try to get a picture of one each time she goes, and I truly treasure each one.

I love to share her vacation vicariously, and I hope you enjoy it, too. Right now it’s almost completely dark outside my window – a cold front coming through, whipping the tree branches around. We may or may not get rain with all the drama. Time will tell. I’ll be thinking of a nice beach on the edge of North Carolina and sandpipers and gorgeous sunrises…

Long Legged Birds Make Me Smile

I love birds. I love pretty birds AND ‘ugly’ birds. I love water birds. I love water birds with long legs. I’ve been to the ocean once that I remember, when my husband and I went to California. We drove down Highway 101 and I made my husband stop many times so that I could get out and walk on the sand a bit. When I saw the sandpipers skitter across the sand on their long, long legs, it made me laugh out loud. I loved it.

One of life’s many pleasures – to be remembered – not to be missed.

Enjoying Our Vicarious Beach Vacation

Topsail Beach, North Carolina – Mary Lou Lewis

Topsail Beach, North Carolina – Mary Lou Lewis

Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law, Mary Lou, we’re enjoying another day on our vicarious vacation at the beach!

Not only gorgeous, she says the weather may be such that she will sit out with her umbrellas this afternoon!  She has promised to kiss a sandpiper for me. :0)

I remember a trip to California one year with my husband. We traveled down Highway 101 beside the ocean all the way down to San Diego. He was nice enough to stop several times so that I could walk along the water. I laughed when I saw the sandpipers!  Their legs are so long in relation to their bodies. I LOVE the way they skitter across the sand!
