My friend Marsha recommended an author she likes – Sharon Sala – so I’m trying one of her books. I’m really enjoying the story so far.

This is the perfect day to be doing a bit of reading. Guess what! It’s raining again! I keep wringing up the towels I rolled up and put on my window sills, then putting the towels back up. There is no point in trying to dry the towels at this point. Mother Nature is insisting that the rainy season isn’t over yet, so I’m just rolling with it, grateful that help may be on the way for my window leaks.

We met my husband, his nurse, and the doctor this morning at the hospital for a routine visit. The doctor is pushing us to let him put in. stomach tube. Harvey was lucid today and clearly said ‘no!’ when Brian asked him if he wanted that, so we told the doctor ‘no.’ We will just hope that Harvey is able to eat enough food the regular way that they can remove the nasal tube. We will see him again Thursday, since Friday will be a busy day for us.

We got a notice that our order for the turtle jigsaw puzzle had been canceled. Brian sent me links to two places we’ve ordered from before and I chose this one wiith the wonderful dolphins. Brian ordered it for me this afternoon, so hopefully I’ll have it soon.

I think I told you that Brian insisted I start taking my clothes to the laundry rather than doing them myself. We took them yesterday, and they will be ready after 3pm today! The price was amazingly affordable and the turnaround time is certainly wonderful. They will return my stuff nicely folded in a transparent plastic bag. 😁

This is what I made yesterday. Harvey’s 82nd birthday is November 18th. I hope he likes it.

Soon it will be Election Day in the states. I will watch the results with great interest, even though I’m far away now.

I hope you have an enjoyable DRY day.

Tina Ann

I just love Tina Ann’s artwork and sense of fun. I just can’t find enough of her work to satisfy me. 😃

My day has been a bit of a mixed bag. It started out with my feeling woozy with low blood pressure and opting out of my gym workout, to be closely followed by POURING rain and some leakage of my windows, necessitating towels and my bucket. I did my laundry and set up to have it dry on the rack inside. I then rested.

Now I’m feeling fine, my blood pressure is almost perfect on half of my BP pill, and the sun came out, causing me to move my drying rack out onto the balcony. I’ll watch closely to see if the weather changes….

Brian and I are at work on getting an image of the finished owl puzzle printed on glass by a company called FractureMe.com who made the wonderful image of my dad’s painting Brian got me as a housewarming present for my new place.

My idea is to do this for each of the puzzles I finish and put the glass images on the shelf in my living area with the painting my dad did as the centerpiece of the display. I love the idea of my vision growing and making a special statement. I took a pic of the owl puzzle earlier and sent it to Brian. He said it sucked (not in those words) and will take a better image for this project when he comes to my place later.

I’m going to concentrate on doing some sketches this afternoon. While I was typing this, though, I was distracted by birds singing their hearts out outside my window. I hadn’t heard them before and now CAN – because of my new hearing aids! What a delight!!!!!

(By the way. although each of us is different, if you’re in the market for help with your hearing, the brand I settled on is Oticon Intent 3. I love them because they are so comfortable I forget I’m wearing them. (an example of this is that I started to put my headphones on the other night to listen to YouTube on top of my hearing aids!) They have rechargeable batteries, so I take them off and put them in the charger until I want them again. There is a phone app so I can adjust them to suit conditions, making them louder or softer or using the ‘voice boost’ feature – when I’m needing to quiet the background noises. End of commercial. 😂

I hope that you’re having a wonderful day or evening, depending on where you are and that you’re finding beautiful things to enjoy.

Rainy Wednesday 9-20-2023

“Frog Rain” –Displate-prints on metal

My computer says it’s 68 right now, but our thermometers say, “60”. Whatever the temperature, it feels a bit cool and is rainy. We’re grateful to have a warm, dry house and no have-to errands today.

I just added two new signs I painted to my Etsy site –

I’m working very slowly and carefully, trying to add my own free-form engraving/etching to the glassware I put chemical etching designs on for my friends. I have no idea if this will turn out well enough for me to give to them, or I’ll end up pitching them and starting something else. I’m having a good time trying, though it’s a bit stressful and I’m having to do just a little bit at a time.

I hope that this rainy Wednesday is a nice one for you and that you are able to find something enjoyable to do with at least part of the day.

I’m thankful today that the precipitation we’re due to get all day today and tomorrow is JUST rain. No snow, sleet, ice, or severe storms – no flying hair balls – JUST rain.

As soon as it’s time for our mail to have been delivered, we’ll check to see if the trash people have made our trash disappear this week. They didn’t last week, I assume because of the weather. I would imagine that if the school buses can’t make it around up here, neither can the trash trucks, mail delivery, etc. Hopefully, they’ll get it today.

My husband is in a ‘death fight’ with the computer that lives in our shop. I’m not sure WHY it’s a death fight, but he has spent hours and hours putting a new operating system on it, new video card, etc., getting more and more upset because it isn’t working. He plays music on it when he’s working in the shop. Since we haven’t been out there, except to get tools or mailbox decorations, I’m not sure why everything else has taken a back seat to this, but it has made it so that he can’t sleep at night and then sleeps on and off during the day. I’m glad he can get his rest, but I wish he would take a more measured approach to this.

I hope that the weather is not a problem where you are today and that this is a nice Tuesday for you.

The Honest Kitchen

Despite my best intentions, yesterday was devoted to my husband’s computer problems. He finally paid someone online to fix it – but most of our day was gone and tensions remained uncomfortably high from the efforts.

I didn’t get outside to start cleaning out the iris planter. We had a cold front come through in the late afternoon, bringing some much-needed rain (continuing this morning), hail, and loud thunder with lots of lightning. I’ll keep watch on the weather to see if I can make some progress on the planter today.

Hoping for a calm, quiet day today…

It’s due to be rainy again today. I’m still breathing a sigh of relief that the warning, with tornadoes imminent and on the ground went JUST to the north of Greenwood. I was watching the experts on our local weather station monitor the tornado warning and the line of the bad stuff was JUST above our town on their map. Hopefully, we’ll have the same luck today.

Allure

Lynn, my massage miracle worker, contacted me to change my massage from Thursday this week to today. I’m delighted that I didn’t have to just miss my massage this month, so my body is already singing in anticipation of her good work. I’ll put the trash out and get our mail when I go.

Other than that, I’m planning for DAY 2 of the month-long program by my ‘weights for seniors’ video guy. He has a stretching video, and then ‘physical activity’ (of my choice) for 10 minutes. I’m going to do my elliptical trainer in the garage. In addition, I’ll do one of the weights videos, and then my normal half hour of yoga stretches. These will be spread out throughout the day.

My husband is still trying to get his computer working as he would like. I’m helping only when he asks – with this exception. He and our son were trying to use the conference call program so they could actually SEE each other and talk real time. Lately my husband hasn’t shown any interest in wanting to do that, so I was delighted that he was trying to talk. They were having trouble getting things set up right on our end so that our son could hear my husband. I went over, looked at things, and saw that his microphone button was off. I pushed it, waiting to hear him yell at me for interfering, but was pleased to see it worked! Instead of yelling, my husband told our son, “She fixes stuff for me all the time now.” I was relieved and melted into my computer chair on the other side of the room.

When they were finished, our son wrote ME, asking if I wanted to talk, so we each had a wonderful catch up time with him. Absolutely beyond price. :0)

I hope your Tuesday is a good one.

“Monday, Monday…”

Giphy

We’re supposed to get lots of rain today, particularly this afternoon and this evening, possibly severe. A “normal’ spring day for Arkansas.

Yesterday, since cleaning up my counter in the garage did NOT yield the garden irrigation system timer for which I was looking, we went to Yeagers and bought another one. We bought weed killer for our lawn at the same time. My husband spread that while I tackled the new timer.

I managed to program it and install it on the outside garden faucet and then hooked up the hoses in the garden. I turned on the water to test it, but the pressure was way down for some reason. We looked at the well house, since that’s where the water for the garden comes from. After a LOT of unpleasantness, my husband figured out what was wrong. He repaired a broken wire and then was able to get the pump pressure up. So we THINK we’re fixed now. I’ll check it this afternoon to see if the sprinklers in the middle of each planter box are actually sprinkling, or just dribbling as they were yesterday.

In my travels back and forth from the well house to the shop, I noticed that our tulip tree was blooming! Since our possible severe weather this evening may batter the sweet tree, I tried to get some pictures.

Since my counter in the garage is now cleaner, and –
my desk in the office is STILL clean –

today’s project will be tackling the kitchen. THAT includes a deeper cleaning of fridges, countertops, ceiling fans, wall air flow systems, and vacuuming the pantry, kitchen, dining area, utility room, and two half baths.

“Washout of a Day?”

Quora

Today is supposed to be a “washout of a day. Heavy rain and lightning will be the main concerns today. Some small hail and gusty winds will be possible in the stronger storms but the threat is low overall.” It’s cool and gray and rainy right now – a great day to take a nap under my throw in my recliner. My husband is sleeping in this morning, and the morning chores are done. Nice and quiet.

I’m hoping to have a burst of energy so I can get the paperwork that is piled up finished, plus get a good start on adding some of my craft products to my page on Amazon Handmade. Adding things is to the page is kind of laborious – hence my needing a burst of energy to get started. :0)

So far I’m very encouraged about my spring garden. I’m glad we drilled lots of drain holes in our 4’x4′ wooden raised bed planters. All is designed to drain well and not get waterlogged. Needless to say, with all the rain we have been getting, delivery of the new sprinklers will just be NICE, rather than NECESSARY. I’ll get some pics to share with you when the rain stops.

I hope that you have a really nice day today.

Window Shopping

dumpaday.com

It’s rainy here, making me glad I have a warm, dry house.

It also makes me want comfort food, and I have trouble staying away from ‘bad’ things.

In general, I do pretty well, but then the gremlin inside my head tells me, “It’s been over a year since you had a ________. It wouldn’t hurt to have just one…” Yeah, right. And then we move on to President’s Day, and National Pickle Week, and the whole thing crashes.

Today I’m trying to distract myself by working in the yard, if Mother Nature will cooperate. It is not raining this very minute, so maybe I can get my elephant ear plants re-planted.

I noticed yesterday that in addition to my daffodils lifting my spirits, our tulip tree is blooming! Talk about signs of hope for the future!

So, I will finish my coffee, keep my mouth firmly shut otherwise, and stay busy.

Wishing myself luck….

Saturday in the Rain

Imgur

Today is a wonderful day to stay inside, warm and dry.

First, we need to get our mail and then mail some things at the post office. THEN we’ll enjoy the rest of the day inside. :0)

I will try to find the time and energy to get up to my art room today. It’s been awhile, and ideas are starting to rattle around in my brain on things I would like to try. That idea fights with things I am passing that definitely need my attention today, so I’m not sure which will win out.

I hope that YOU are having a nice Saturday, doing something fun.

Bored Panda

I’m happy to tell you that we finally got our irrigation system for the garden working just in time for the rain today. Hahahaahahaahah! :0)

We had a great time at Lunch Bunch. Everyone was there, so we had a lot of good conversation, good food, and laughs. Afterwards we went to Walmart and one other store for supplies. Apparently, toilet paper is the big item everyone thinks is necessary to weather the coronavirus here. There was NONE at Walmart or in the other grocery at which we stopped.  It is scary, being in the high risk group as my husband and I are, but I’m not sure that toilet paper is the cure. I think the caution about being in crowds or lots of public spaces is smart, and so we will cut down on what seems reasonable. Here is Arkansas, schools and churches haven’t been affected yet. Hopefully, testing will be readily available soon.

Signs of spring continues to appear. My daffodils are starting to fade, but my tulip tree is happy.

A beef roast is in the crock pot, so all I have to do for dinner is make a salad.

Every time Microsoft updates Windows 10, it causes me a problem. This time, it was two things –

Thing One – my access to Bill Pay on our bank account. We could get to the rest of the things on the account, but not that. I ended up accessing Bill Pay via FoxFire browser, the only one I could find that would allow it to show up.

Thing Two – My Cronometer website.  This is a nice website where I can track what I’m eating, particularly in regard to my keto macros. It wouldn’t show up at all on Chrome anymore. I finally got it to show up on FireFox, too. I feel I’m back home with my safety net. I find the biggest problem is trying to eat enough fat. I’m now adding heavy cream to my coffee, and hopefully that will make the difference.

I found a funny sign I would like to add to the ones people see as they come up our long, steep driveway.

We have one like this –

Speeding through the Day

"Gone with the wind fabulous" - Johnathan Cruz

“Gone with the wind fabulous” – Johnathan Cruz

This is the way my day has felt.

On the good side, I’ve gotten a lot of little fiddly things off my to-do-list, like giving our dog, Molly, a session with the defurminator so she will leave fewer big tufts of hair all over the place. (Abby, the cat, is next.)

I’ve cut up veggies to munch and to cook for next week. I’m cleaning out the fridges in preparation for making a grocery list for tomorrow. I’ve made puddings and other stuff, running the dishwasher twice so far today.

And so it goes, the little things that we need to do to make our lives go more smoothly.

It was a good day to do this stuff. It wasn’t supposed to rain but it did, giving me a good chance to do inside stuff. We opted not to go to town, freeing up more time. The only sad thing is that my energy has never been a good match for my to-do list.

My husband is out working busily in the shop while my energy reaches its ebb. I think I’ll have a cup of coffee and put my feet up to see if I get another surge of energy.

I hope you’re having a really nice day.
