These are hand painted wooden earrings. They are 1/2″ in diameter and super light-weight. They are post or stud type earrings.
They are listed on EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy.

I am planning to spend time in my art room again today.
I have more wooden small, round, rimmed post earrings started. When those are finished, I’ll clean off my drafting table. THEN I would like to get set up to try the pulled string art technique.
I’m looking forward to a fun, messy time!
I finally got up to my art room yesterday. These are the newest shape of wooden earrings I have received and I had a great time painting them. I put the findings on them this morning. They are 2″ in diameter and super light-weight. I just finished listing them on EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy.
I’m hoping to get back upstairs this afternoon to try the pulled string art that is so intriguing. It’s so much fun to experiment!
It is really pretty outside right now. We will have to close our doors and turn on the a/c soon, but right now we have a nice breeze with ceiling fans.
We will meet our friends for Lunch Bunch in about an hour. We wear face masks, and there is a limit on capacity inside the restaurant. It’s wonderful to be able to see our friends, catch up on what’s been happening, and laugh together.
I’m hoping for a quiet day today. I will clean out the aquarium and hopefully work on some new earrings upstairs in my art room.
I hope that YOU have a good day, too.

I had a lovely massage this morning. I asked her to just leave me there and let me drift off to sleep, but she made me get up, pay her, and leave. Imagine that! She is truly a miracle worker. I feel a lot better.
It was getting dark as I left – at 11:00 in the morning! I got home just before storming started. I shut the garage door, and closed up the house. It has rained, but it doesn’t seem to be severe at this point. We have more waves of storms coming this afternoon and tonight.
I chatted with our son in Thailand this morning briefly. There is 12 hours difference in our times, so we have to chat quickly sometimes. He sounded really happy. He said, “last night when i was falling asleep i was listening to the rain, and i think i heard some kind of religious singing from somewhere, maybe the nearby wat, and i was feeling the breeze from my fan, and i thought to myself how fortunate i am.”
We are on our official whole first day of the South Beach Diet today. (We started after lunch yesterday.) So far, we’re doing fine, although we’re fumbling around some. We like the shakes, and the ‘ice crushes.” Mine are chocolate, of course. :0) I got home from my massage late for our morning ‘snack.’ We went ahead and did that, deciding we would delay lunch for an hour or so. I have keto chili in the crock pot for one of our DIY dinners for the week. I’m interested to see what we think of our lunch options. I have found that their ‘peanut butter bites” (a package of small cookies) is delicious. I am trying to record what I eat and drink on the tracker on their website. It’s different that the other I have been using, but I’m determined to make it work.
I received one of the new wooden earring shapes I ordered yesterday, and am eager to get up to the art room to see what I can do with it. :0)
I hope you’re having a wonderful day.
I dreamed about the techniques I saw demonstrated on YouTube yesterday. This can be done with string or chain and can be as simple or complex and you would like. I’m really looking forward to making the time to play!
Each time I go up to my art room, I’m filled with the desire to make something I like. My head starts working overtime, swirling with the possibilities of what I can play with.
Lately I have been playing the game of, “Cleaning up my Art Room.” What this ACTUALLY means – unless someone is coming who wants to SEE it – is that I START gathering things up to clear off my drafting table and quickly get caught up by an idea for making something. “Cleaning” drops off quickly as I get out even more things in order to play.
Yesterday the cleaning up stopped as I started a new group of earrings. I found some things I want to try, plus I have a couple of new shapes, so I spent about half the afternoon up there, first painting one side of the earring shapes, letting them dry, then painting the second side. Last night I sprayed the glaze fixative on the side that was ‘up.’ This morning I sprayed the second side. Today I’ll do a bit more work on them in the art room, and then bring them downstairs, here to the office, where I put them together.
I love the fact that I have enough supplies to try a lot of things, ‘dwelling in the possibilities.’ Even though things never turn out the way I envision, my time in the art room is priceless. Possibilities abound. I can escape from any stress. I can lose myself in the joy of the game, ‘What If…”

Getting wooden earring blanks is like a crap shoot – sometimes you get a product that is exciting and even better than you thought it would be – like these 3-D type earrings above. They are good quality, very smooth, and a little over 1 inch in diameter. I cannot find them again, though I am still searching.
In an effort to get larger round earrings for a possible order, I ordered these recently and received them today. They were advertised to be 2″ in diameter. As you can see here, they are actually 1-1/2″ in diameter – not large enough for the possible order. I have now found another source which is advertising 2″ and 3″ in diameter round earrings. I’ve ordered with fingers crossed.
In the meantime, while I was searching for the 2″ in diameter earrings, I found some other interesting things. I haven’t received all I ordered yet, but I’m hopeful I will get some things that are wonderful.
These are 2″ on the longest edge. I like the shape of these and am looking forward to playing with them.
This is 1-3/8″ in diameter. I like the two holes. I have tried taking some shapes out to our shop to drill a first or second hole, but it’s difficult to drill a hole without splitting the shape. These will allow me to do some things that might be a lot of fun. I can feel my juices flowing!
More Fruits from my art room –
I love making these signs. They are 6″x8″ hard wrapped canvas boards. I have fun with my Unicorn Spit paint, let them dry, spray them with fixative. Let them dry again. Then I print the saying on them. I’m going to take these to Rags & Roses Collective in Greenwood to put in the booth I share with my good friend, Carla.
I had fun in my art room yesterday. I painted this group of post earrings in a floral theme. The earrings are half an inch in diameter.
I will add them to my earrings website EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy, as soon as possible.
I’ve been good, working in the house and out in the yard.
I’ve been sick – so two days were lost and best forgotten.
Today I feel GOOD and I’m officially on strike.
I am going to spend time in my art room today, PLAYING.
I received an order of these wooden post/stud earrings yesterday. They are half an inch in diameter with the findings already attached. I’m going to have fun seeing how I can paint these. The earrings this size I have done previously were flat. I like the fact these are thicker and have a rim. Lots of possibilities here.
I have a couple of tees on which I spilled something and the stains are still showing after washing. (Imagine that!) I’m thinking about how I want to paint them to give them new life.
I have some ideas for small, sassy signs for my booth in Rags & Roses Collective in Greenwood. I can get started on those.
We will have leftover bacon-wrapped hamburger patties, salad, and fresh sliced tomatoes from the garden tonight for dinner, so very little prep work is needed. Everyone seems calm and happy here.
This is my idea of a perfect day!!!!!

If I come back to the world as something else one day, I either want to be this Marabou stork (above) or a shoebill stork (below.)
I love both of these birds. They are ugly – and they look like they have a sense of humor – like they’ll say something to make you laugh any minute. A great combination!
The sun is finally shining here!!!! We have had an entire week of rain, storms, gusty winds, gray days. It was SO nice to have to put on my sunglasses when we ran a couple of errands earlier today!
I fixed a big salad this morning. I will offer to share it with my husband, but he has some things he really likes, instead. I will eat part for lunch and the rest as part of my dinner. It’s wonderful to be able to use spinach and lettuce from our own garden in it! :0)
My husband is going to try to mow the yard later today, if it will dry up more. We are actually watching the grass grow now that the sun has come out.
I’m going to play in my art room this afternoon, trying to finish up a new idea I had.
Have a fun day!
I’ve been having a wonderful time in my art room this afternoon.
I started some new wooden earrings to which I’ll attach posts. I have the fronts finished, but I need to wait for them to dry so I can paint the edges and the backs. Then I’ll bring them downstairs to glue on the posts.
I also started some small hard canvas boards, using Unicorn Spit paints. When they dry, I’ll add some of my favorite quotes.
I truly love the Unicorn paints. Thanks FOREVER to my wonderful sister-in-law, MaryLou, for sending me a starter set – just because she saw them and thought I might have fun with them. The possibilities are truly endless, and a joy for any level of ‘arty-ness.’ If you haven’t tried these, they are such FUN. You can use the paints on almost anything. I’ve painted totes, tee shirts, paper, wood, and these hard canvas boards so far. You can paint with brushes, or use them like fingerpaint. They are non-toxic, water soluble and are not permanent until you spray or paint them with fixatives. Truly wonderful stuff!
Hopefully, I can show you my latest batch of things soon.
I love rain, but I would rather be on the inside looking out at it.
We just got back from doing our errands for the day. It’s 40 degrees with a cold rain. We didn’t have many, but we DROWNED doing them. It’s a very good thing we are not water-soluble. I’m having a cup of coffee now, trying to warm up. A wonderful day to be inside. :0)
I’m feeling good because our veggie garden is under good control right now, plus we got the yard mowed and weed-whacked before the rain started. I can enjoy the inside days with a clear conscience – happy to be warm and dry.
I’ll fix our lunch and then I’m looking forward to spend some time in my art room. I’m painting some wooden earrings which will have posts, and I have some ideas (thanks to my good friend, Marsha) for some things I can create with my Unicorn Spit paint and put them in the local shop booth I share with my friend, Carla.
When I saw how cold and rainy it was this morning, I put ingredients for a beef stew in the slow cooker so we can enjoy some hot comfort food tonight. It’s odd – our weather forecast is for cold and rainy today – but WARM and rainy the rest of the week, including thunderstorms and possible severe weather. Mother Nature is being quite active lately.
I hope that you are weathering whatever shutdown restrictions you have without too much discomfort. Gradually, things will reopen and we can adapt to the ‘new normal.’
Take care and stay safe.
How could anyone feel ‘down’ after seeing this sweet baby elephant?
We are having storms this morning. We have lost power once briefly and Internet once so far. Rain, wind, hail, and flying hair balls are predicted all day and into the evening. I am worried about my veggie plants and my tomato plants. Fingers crossed that we DON’T get the predicted hail.
I am thankful we have a warm, dry home. Usually we play ‘doggie doorman’ all day long, but both doggies are sound asleep as I type. Both cats are inside, too. And, of course, the gold fish are safe from harm.
We started a project last night of replacing the long board that is on the outer edge of our deck, trying to shore things up a bit. We got part of it accomplished, and planned to go to the local hardware store to get a replacement board today. So much for our plans. We will hope we can continue the fix tomorrow.
Meanwhile, we are trying to sell an old riding lawn mower. A man just called and is on his way out to see it – in the middle of this weather. I’m hoping that means that he really wants a mower and will be delighted that we can sell him one cheaply that works. Fingers crossed!
I finished the painting I started several days ago.
The weather has really thrown a wrench into our plans for the day, so I’m not sure what I’ll try to accomplish today.
I got two stars yesterday because I FINALLY did my elliptical trainer in the morning and my yoga in the afternoon. I will try to do that again today.
I could really tell yesterday that I had stiffened up in my yoga practice. I have to prove to myself over and over again that I really need to do this at least several times a week, if not every day. I’m a very slow, stubborn learner. Here’s hoping I earn my two stars today.
Please take care and stay safe.
This is the rest of the newest group of earrings I made and listed on EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy. Each of these earrings is made of super light weight wood. Each is hand-painted and then some sort of accent is added, like the gold beads above. All of one-of-a-kind designs using leftover goodies from my jewelry collection.
If you would like more information about these, or would like to see other wooden earring designs, please visit EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy.
I’m feeling very lucky that so far, we are safe from the virus, in a warm, dry home with our pets. We have food and water, a throw to take a nap under, books to read, paint to splatter, and some good hugs – even with social distancing. I just enjoyed a chat with our son who is across the world from us. He is thinking about starting a YouTube page with videos on how to meditate. He is so calm and happy. I hope he does this, so he can pass this gift he has found on to others.
One suggestion on a way we can help each other through this time of economic uncertainty – if you are in the position to do this – pay the many good people who do things for you the normal amount you would pay them, even if you’re not getting the service, to show how very much you appreciate them. If you are not in a position to pay them, consider calling them to check on them, showing them you are thinking of them.
It’s rainy today, so we’re staying inside.
Yesterday we had to go to the hardware store because we had a leak in the well house. We were able to find the replacement parts we needed and were able to fix the leak. We were going to change the tires on the truck – from our snow tires to the regular ones – but we seem to have a reprieve for the moment due to the rain. ANOTHER reason to enjoy the rain! :0)
Today I’m planning to go up to my art room (my friend, Marsha, says I should call it a ‘studio.’) to have fun painting some wooden earrings for myself.
I hope you find a fun, satisfying way to spend your day today.
Stay safe.
Yesterday afternoon I escaped to my art room, leaving worries behind and thinking only of the joy of painting.
Since I’m a slob and regularly seem to plop something on my tee that won’t come out in the laundry, I usually have a nice ‘canvas’ on which to paint! I can cover up the stained part of the tee and enjoy wearing it for a long time. :0)
Today I’m planning to paint some wooden earrings for myself.

For the past several days I’ve been working hard, doing lots of ‘shoulds.’
I am now caught up on bookkeeping and tax records through March. The garden is weeded and harvested. The yard looks like someone actually lives here. The aquarium water is still clean. And the list goes on, though the to-do list continues to grow.
As a reward for my efforts, I’m going to give myself permission to play in my art room today. I have some ideas that have been rattling around in my brain lately. I’m even DREAMING about some of them.
I’m going to forget about all that is going on (because I am lucky enough that I can put it aside – at least for a bit) and I will enjoy throwing some paint around.
I MAY do some work today, but the focus will be trying to get at least SOME of the paint on the project!
Happy Wednesday!

I had fun doing a whole new style with the hand-painted wooden earrings. These are layered, with two or three wooden pieces attached to each other. They are still quite light weight. I even forget when I have them on!
Each is a one-of-a-kind design.
If you would like to take a closer look, they are listed in my Etsy shop.
I’ve had two sessions up in my art room this afternoon making some new designs in earrings. They are all drying now, but I’ve had a great time getting paint all over me and everything else, experimenting with some new techniques. I hope to show them to you tomorrow.
I’ve also spent some time outside. It has been a gorgeous, sunshine-y day here. It’s still 62 degrees now. I went out to the garden to check my sweet veggies plants.
The weather website for us is predicting 100% chance of rain tomorrow, so these guys will get a nice drink.
I saw yet another sign of spring today –
Our tulip tree is starting to bloom!
This has pretty much been the perfect day. I hope that you have had a wonderful day, too.
I made these today. I would very much appreciate your feedback. Would you wear these? Suggestions?
Thanks.

I’ve been having fun this afternoon playing in my art room.
I’m working on a suggestion regarding earring designs from my friend/sister-in-law, and have 3 pairs in the works. I’m also having fun painting a gourd. I can only do a little bit at a time, waiting for things to dry in-between steps, but it’s really good to spend time up there again.
I went up there today with the idea I would clean things up a bit and ended up with paint all over me and new, fun projects instead…. :0)

I finished a small plaque last night –
It’s 8 inches tall x 6 inches wide and solid wood. This is another item painted with the Unicorn Spit Glaze/Stain that my sister-in-law sent me awhile back. I have truly had a blast experimenting with this. I’ll list this on ArtFire
I used the ‘spit’ to paint these wooden earrings for myself. I haven’t taken the time to put the hardware on them yet. I also have two pairs that require me to drill holes in them. It’s been rainy, so that’s on hold until the weather is being more cooperative.
I’m delighted/relieved to report that I’m feeling GOOD this morning! Not sassy yet, but on my way. I have thrown out a lot of food, since I don’t know what caused my problem (all were things that “I” eat, and my husband doesn’t, such as cottage cheese, raw veggies, etc.) We will go to the grocery store soon to replenish our supplies and start with a clean slate again. WHEW!
Even though our weather is a bit cold, gray, and raw, we have NO snow or ice – another thing for which I’m grateful. :0)
I finished painting a tee shirt before I got sick.
I’m looking forward to getting up to my art room this afternoon. I have started earrings for myself and another wooden plaque.
Fingers are crossed that I’ll feel good enough by tomorrow to get back to my daily elliptical trainer and yoga practice. Right now I’m feeling very happy with not having my food poisoning symptoms – but my body will be happier when I can be more active again.
I wish you a happy, healthy Sunday!
Today I am PROMISING myself that I will get up to my art room and play. All week ideas have been rattling around in my head. I’m to the point now I’m DREAMING about trying some stuff. Today I will make time to experiment.
I hope that YOU have a wonderful day, doing something fun for you, too.
The severe weather came through last night, dropping our temperature from 70 degrees F. to 34 this morning. the storms and lightning were pretty impressive. (My husband was teed off because our weather guy broke into the programs he wanted to watch.) The day today is gray, raw, wet, cold. We MAY get sleet today, but so far, we are doing fine, have sustained no damage that I have found, and are warm, safe, and dry. I hope the storms don’t cause a lot of damage as they now move to the east.
My daffodils are stupid. They have sprouted and will try to bloom, even though the prospect of sleet is imminent today with winter coming on its heels.
I baked recipe #6 for keto bread yesterday. I brought two slices in for my husband and I to try. My husband took one bite and didn’t say anything. In a few minutes he let our dog, Amber enjoy the remainder of the slice. (Tact is not his long suit.) Happily, I found a group yesterday on Facebook – Amazing Daily Keto moderated by Angie Thomason that is all things keto. I was accepted into the group and already have a new bread recipe to try! Hooray!
I’m getting my chores accomplished – mainly due to the yucky weather outside – and
am hoping to spend at least part of the afternoon in my art room. I have some ideas rattling around that are becoming insistent that they be allowed to come out. I LOVE spending time up there! :0)
I hope that YOUR day is safe and enjoyable.
Since high winds, heavy rain, hail, and possible tornadoes are predicted – starting in a couple of hours, I just spent 45 minutes using the industrial stapler to try to handle the loose or torn places on our greenhouse. There were LOTS of places that needed attention, mostly on both ends of the greenhouse. I think I have those under control now, although my hands really didn’t like the stapling, so I had to stop. I told my husband that, if the greenhouse makes it through, we need to try to shore up the door end, since it is starting to definitely lean in toward the center.
I’m resting a bit, and then I’ll go out and see what I can do to secure the things we have on our porch and deck. Then, we hope for the best. The sleet forecast for tomorrow probably won’t be that big a deal since it has been quite spring-like lately and the roads are too warm for it to cause much havoc. Still, we bought groceries and are prepared to just stay in until further notice. It’s good to have a nice, warm, dry place to be.
As soon as I finish the deck, I’ll try the new keto bread recipe, and then I’m planning to enjoy playing in my art room.
I told you yesterday that I learned a good, long-time friend of mine had died. Since then, I have heard from MANY friends locally and online, giving me kind words of consolation. I’m a very, very lucky person to know so many wonderful people. Thank you. It means a lot.
I spent time with MORE friends at Lunch Bunch yesterday. As usual, we shared what had happened since the last Friday, our plans, plus stories, hugs, and lots of laughter. The daughter of one of my friends joined us from Fort Smith, so it was an especially nice gathering. We have been meeting every Friday for over 17 years now. There is no way to express how wonderful it is to have shared our lives, Friday by Friday, through good times and bad. Priceless.
This morning has been a character-building exercise for me. Our animals are conspiring to drive me crazy, one incident at a time. I can almost hear them laughing as they watch me mutter and handle the next thing, over and over. One example –
‘someone’ – whose name is probably Amber, our 94-pound yellow lab – apparently ‘nosed’ the small pile of firewood we had on the hearth, causing everything to tumble down onto the carpet, spreading debris everywhere. I started picking up pieces, then used a brush and dustpan, then a whisk broom, and finally the vacuum, to finally get the area cleaned up and back together again. “Someone” else – probably named Molly (our elderly cocker spaniel/schnauzer cross) and Abby, one of our cats – caused me to also vacuum the hallway, two half-baths, the dining area, the kitchen, the pantry, and the utility room because of tufts of animal hair playing in the breezes. (The fact that I JUST vacuumed all that YESTERDAY makes me think they are smuggling in some other animal to shed an ‘entire animal’ each and every day…)
I’m having lots of fun in my art room.
Yesterday I finished these –
I’m hoping to play in my art room more today, unless the animals come up with yet another mess for me to clean up.
I hope that you are having a wonderful day, too, full of the love of friends, family, and pets.

I told you that I have given myself the Christmas present of time to play in my art room. I had a blast yesterday – cleaning a bit, but mostly playing.
I had to paint this tee TWICE because I forgot to spray it with the fabric sealer. DUH. I wore it, put it in the washer and dryer, and it came out ALMOST completely plain green again. Thankfully, since the paint is water soluble, the paint didn’t get on anything else. Here it is for the SECOND time – sprayed so the paint will last.
I also painted a group of note cards using a different technique than I have in the past –
If you’re interested. they will be listed on ArtworthyNoteCards on Etsy. On about the 27th of December, they will be available at our booth (“Blasing Bright” in our local shop in Greenwood, Arkansas – Rags & Roses Collective, 100 N. Main Street. Hours: 11-6 Tuesday through Friday, 10-4 Saturdays. The cost at the shop in Greenwood is $9.99 for the package of 5 cards.
I am giving myself an early Christmas present this afternoon – giving myself permission to go up and play in my art room.
I have been making a lot of things lately, and so my art room looks like there was an explosion. I’m going to take my time, putting things away, clearing a lot of space to start another group of things very soon. I have ideas rattling around in my head that are eager to come out.
I hope that you have a fun afternoon planned, too. Enjoy your day!
