A Tree Smiles

I’m enjoying a website called “Bookbub.com” lately. My sister-in-law, MaryLou, told me about it. I’m regularly buying and downloading new books onto my Kindle Fire. I love being able to try a book without spending a fortune.

I will never convert to ONLY reading the Kindle Fire, though – even if they make it so it cooks dinner for you and cleans your house, as well as being a great source for reading.  There is nothing like holding a book in your hands while you read. If it’s a book from which I want to learn, I read with a yellow highlighter in hand, ready to mark things I don’t want to forget.  Many times I’ll download a book, decide I love it and want to make it a permanent part of my collection, and go to Amazon to buy the REAL book.

I guess it’s a function of my age that I don’t really trust the cloud to keep my stuff available and safe. I try to stay prepared that if something happens and I lose all the books I have on my Kindle Fire, it won’t be something for which I’ll slit my throat. It will be irritating, for sure, but not like losing a REAL one…
