Wat – Ki. – BestinDogs on X

Today is “Pampered Friday” for me. I’m grinning just thinking about my day.

I went to the gym and walked my mile on the treadmill like a good girl. I’m going to add some more balance exercises to my day, thanks to a URL on balance videos that my friend, Marsha, sent.

At 10 I have my weekly massage. How lucky I am to be able to do this! A total luxury, I leave the place almost week-kneed with relaxation.

This afternoon, my housekeeper comes to make my place spotless once again. I do a number of things to get ready for her each week: I change the sheets on my bed, gather and take out the trash, try to get my laundry in and put away if it’s dry, and generally straighten things. She makes me feel like a slob, though, because she not only cleans everything, she lines things up. She even dries the soap in my shower!

I’ve never had the luxury of a housekeeper before and I truly love it. I can keep things picked up and reasonably neat, but the scrubbing she does of the balcony floor, the scrubbing of the shower floor, the getting every bit of dust that dares to come in here off the baseboards, off the floor, off every shelf, tabletop, or counter, is something that will become more difficult for me, no matter how fit I try to get. MUCH appreciated and NEVER to be taken for granted.

While she is here cleaning, Brian and I go to a cafe where you can stay as long as you like, nursing a drink of something, feeling very welcome and at home. I take my sketchbook and drawing supplies, my Kindle, and a sweatshirt to put on if I can’t get my favorite spot at the front window. (The rest of the place gets quite chilly.) If I’m lucky enough to get my favorite spot, the temperature is mostly comfortable and I can pass the time sketching, reading, playing on my phone, and watching the amazing traffic outside.

Soon after we come home, Brian calls me up to his place for dinner. He orders something and has it delivered, a luxury I’ve never enjoyed before. We lived too far out ‘in the sticks’ in Arkansas to get food delivered. Our driveway was also steep enough that many people would just refuse to even try to drive up it. Even Amazon would leave our packages at the bottom of the driveway…

We get ‘Western’ dinners a lot of the time. These are lower in carbs and don’t have a lot of hot spices. We are gradually eating more Thai food. We had what they call, “Stewed Pork Leg and Rice” the other night. It had a sauce to go with it. It wasn’t hot, tasted delicious, and cost about $3.00 US money for both of us!

Finally, after I prep for Saturday, I’ll sprawl on the lounge part of my sofa with my headphones and enjoy listening and watching music on YouTube on my TV.

I will never be able to thank our son enough for wanting us to come here to retire. He handled all the details, and is STILL taking care of both of us. It’s so wonderful to be part of his life now. We have such a good time doing things together!

A Bit of Disappointment

Pixabay

Yesterday Brian and I found a craft shop where I wasn’t excited until I turned around and saw an embroidered piece on the wall that looked like stained glass. It was really stunning. Colorful, with silky type material used. Just wonderful.

I thought about it the rest of the afternoon. I told Brian I wanted to see how much it cost. We went back today. I was afraid it would be gone, but it was still up on the wall. When I asked her how much she wanted for it, she said it was not for sale.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I could “SEE” the piece on the wall above my computer, making me smile each time I saw it.

We went for a chocolate – our go-to place when we’re needing a pick-me-up, so the trip wasn’t completely wasted. Brian said he will look for other similar shops that we can visit. (Sigh)

On the good side, I had a wonderful massage this morning. We will vacate my place in about an hour to let Khun Nong perform her miracle while I’m gone.

Susy suggested that I install some apps on my phone that will help in my efforts to eventually become more independent here. I already had Google Maps, but Brian also installed “Friends and Family” so he can see where I am if I take a walk. We also talked about the fact we have a chat program on which we communicate all day long if I need him, plus I have his phone number. He basically said that the Google Translate app is not as good as one would hope. He is always available, and he pointed out that people have stopped and helped us when I had a problem before and probably would again, if needed.

He again talked about crossing streets, and I assured him I wasn’t planning to throw myself under a bus or get creamed by the 4 lanes of traffic plus motorcycles all moving like bats out of Hell in the busy street. I promised him that if I fell, I would arrange to fall INTO the buildings, NOT into the street…

I don’t feel pressured to go out by myself. I just don’t want to let my natural cautiousness curb my ability to enjoy going a few places on my own.

Friday Thoughts 7-18-2025

Last night at dinner Brian gave me flowers! Aren’t they beautiful? I thanked him from the bottom of my heart for making me feel special. 🤗

I’ve been to the gym, eaten breakfast, and will soon go for my massage. I look forward to it every week, as Khun Wey-o seems to be quite adept at finding and kneading out my sore spots.

We are going to visit Harvey as soon as I get back from the massage. We are jumping through hoops on renewing passports and visas. Since Harvey was at the hospital last time and is now at the nursing home, we are, in effect, starting over with some of the requirements for him. We have to take several pictures of him while we are there, documenting his bedridden status and getting a closeup of his face. Then there is a several page document, front and back, with several places he is supposed to sign. They will accept thumb prints, so we are ready to get those.

We also need a doctor’s certificate of his status. The nursing home cannot provide this, so, when we leave from our visit, we will go to the hospital, where we have requested this document. We may have to wait some time for this.

Then we will go back to the visa office and give all this to the lady who is handling this for us.

Depending on the time when we finish all this, we will either regroup for a bit before getting out of Khun Nong’s way for her to clean this afternoon. If it’s time for her to already be working, I have left the things I need in Brian’s condo to spend a few hours at the cafe next door while Brian works there on his laptop.

Many things on the list today. Wish us luck that all goes well instead of things blowing up in our faces. I wish YOU a wonderful day!

Running Like a Nut

DM-Zimmermann Peggy-Pinterest

Yesterday was busy, exhausting, and very good. Amber’s adoptive parents were here, plus my good friend, Carla, buying more stuff. They came twice. They’ll be back again today. It really makes me happy that they are finding things they can use and take joy in.

Carla took Jet (aka Monster Cat) and all her stuff yesterday. That was the first time we had no pets in over 40 years. Even though it seemed really empty, I was so happy and relieved that the animals will be well cared for. This morning I ordered a women’s medical alert bracelet that says, “Pacemaker” that will be delivered on the 25th – HOPEFULLY in time for me to wear it on the trip.

Conde’ Nast Traveler

We are due to get our passports today! Then the real count down begins on getting ready for our trip. Our son will start work on routing our trip and getting tickets. Before, it was still abstract that we’ll be leaving, even though we’re giving away and selling lots of stuff and I’m preparing to shut down my Etsy site. Once the passports arrive and our son lets us know the date we’re leaving, it will all be REAL.

I found a phone app on speaking Thai. I really want to be able to be polite and respectful and try my best on pronunciation. I know our son will help us, but he picks up new languages pretty easily. (He speaks English, Mandarin and Thai). We will need lots of practice and guidance before the new words sink in.

HAPPY SPRING!!! I forgot it was the first day of Spring yesterday and so didn’t wish you a happy one. So sorry. Thailand essentially has several different summers each year – including wet summer, dry summer, smoky summer, and so it will be an adjustment to not celebrate spring and fall. I have to admit I won’t miss winter, but will take time to look at beautiful pictures of it each year. :0)

I have my blog on my phone now, though I’m still using my computer here. I found out I can write you a note, but I haven’t figured out how to add any images yet, so I may not be able to do that. I CAN read comments and reply, so I’ll try to send you messages on what is happening until our son has the time to get computers going for us. I hope you will bear with us.

We will have a super busy day today with our friends coming to buy more stuff, deliveries, etc. An amazing time for us, for sure.

I hope that your Friday is a wonderful one, with a great weekend to follow.

Our son and I will go to our local bank today to deposit funds and move them around. We have done reasonably well on selling things in the past few days. We will continue to do that as we can before we leave.

I did get confirmation that people in Philadelphia received our passport applications and payments, so things are in the works. Basically, we can pack and buy tickets when we get them, leaving all remaining here for the auctioneer.

Today I’m hoping to see two friends. One is Linda, my dear friend who now lives in a retirement place locally. I usually see her when I get my luscious monthly massages, but since I got sick, I’ve changed so much my visit to her got lost due to my inability to handle things, drive, etc. I hope to be able to see her today. I have a really snugly throw I want to give her and hug her neck.

I want to take some really good canned meats I found recently, plus a quilt to my friend Nora and visit with her, as well. She has been a friend for years and years, and I would like to spend some time with her today.

I’ll make another pass at deciding what will be packed. I still haven’t decided what I’ll wear for the trip. Our son said to be sure to wear layers, since some places we’ll have layovers may be cold. I’ll figure out what to wear, what to take for a change of clothes in my backback for sure today. Then I’ll start trying on clothes to make SURE all is good – and organized – so it’ll be easy for our son to see if I’m taking too much in one area, or forgetting something else…

As each day passes, it’s a combination of tears and joy. I hate saying goodbye to our life here, but we are simply not able to handle it all anymore. It feels so freeing to be able to walk away from it. I’m excited about ‘moving to another planet’ in effect, with different weather, completely different lifestyle, new people, sights, sounds. Things to learn, new foods to try, new ways to shop and more. I look forward to learning some basic polite Thai words. The list is endless.

One of the best things to look forward to is our son getting a computer up and running for me so that I can continue to write the blog. He has a backup of everything now on both of our computers. My husband may want to ‘build,’ one, so I’m hoping mine can be a laptop, or something relatively quick and simple to set up.

I wish you something that brings you joy wherever you are, that brings a huge smile to your face and fills you with happiness.

Challenges 3-7-2025

I should be getting a call back on trying to cancel our house security system. I’ve tried twice, finally managed to leave a call back number after waiting for over 10 minutes on hold. Fingers crossed that they do it this time. The call is supposed to come any minute now.

Update – after countless transfers to another department, a man was finally able to cancel our account and give me a confirmation #.

I will finally get my much rescheduled haircut tomorrow morning. I look like a much-used dandelion gone-to-seed and maybe stepped on now, with my hair going every which way, with no plan in sight. This will be my final haircut with our wonderful hair stylist. I will tell him we are moving to Thailand, and invite him to freezer dive after work or on the weekend to give him more of a thank you.

I will soon shut down my Etsy site. It’s sad to do this, leaving a lot of stuff here at the house that will simply be auctioned off, but it’s one of the many things we’re ‘letting go.’ If you would like to take a look and see if you would like to order something soon, the Etsy site is HandmadeHavenbyLinda I’ve had a wonderful time making things for the site. Our spare bedroom has been a fun place to try to learn new skills. I look forward to finding a class or two in Thailand where I can watch what they’re doing and maybe start a whole new chapter!

Our son MAY have a line on a condo for us in the same building where his is. He contacted them yesterday and expressed interest in putting money down on the condo. All my appendages are crossed that we can get this one. It’s light, airy, and has plenty of space. The kitchen area is a little small, but we’ll be taking walks to get fresh stuff, or having it delivered, or even prepared for us.

Have a wonderful day.

My heart just melted when I saw this picture. I think the look on their faces is just priceless.

Sloth

I finished these two signs and listed them on my Etsy site, HandmadeHavenbyLinda, yesterday.

Beaver

I’m intrigued by the smart watch I bought. I set it up so that it sends me reminders. It suddenly comes on, flashing at me, saying, “Drink Water,” or “Go Exercise.” Since a lot of my activities are sedentary – computer stuff, writing my blog, listening to music, reading, playing in my art room – I NEED to be reminded that I’ve been sitting plenty long enough and it’s time to get up and move my lard, or hydrate.

It did this several times yesterday. I DID get up, put on my hoodie, grabbed my gardening gloves and pruners on the way out of the garage and just walked around the yard. I decided to stop and tackle something that caught my eye. I improved the situation a bit and then walked on. I went out to the shop and my old garden area (TOTALLY grown up now :0( ) and then back to the driveway pad, then around the house, then around the house again. (you get the pic.) I did this several times during the day.

The first afternoon I had the watch I logged 1800 steps. My first whole day (yesterday) I logged 4177 steps. Even a sloth is supposed to try for at LEAST 10,000 steps, but I’m going to 1) listen to my body and stop if my hips start yelling, and 2) try to increase MY total from the day before. If I can do that, it should be a good addition to my half hour of yoga stretches and one or more ‘drumming’ videos – which I do holding 3 lb. weights. I love the music on these.

I made a bit of progress on the scales lately, rather than GAINING and having to re-lose the same two or three pounds again and again. You can see from the graph above I only maintained and gained before finally starting to inch down again. I would really like to break into new territory one day soon, so I’m just keepin’ on keepin’ on.

If you need me, I’ll be walking, pruning, and guzzling. :0)

Morning of Wows 10-11-2024

This is similar to what is on the end of the long folding arm of the machine the man is driving that is clearing the power lines in the right-of-way to the east of our house. They simply showed up and started making noise when my husband was trying to take a morning nap in his recliner. Amber’s barking and the noise finally got him up.

He took Amber and the truck to go find out what was happening. It turned out that there was a man driving a humongous piece of equipment with a cab that moved to all angles, with a long folding ‘arm’ on the front with a spinning blade to saw off anything that could encroach on the power lines. They sawed off a bunch of stuff, particularly off a humongous trying-to-die tree on the edge of what we laughingly call the ‘civilized’ part of our land.

They stopped when they saw me standing out there watching them. I complimented the man operating the spinning blade. Another man will be trying to mow the right of way, though it’s really rocky and will be a nightmare to mow. They said they tried to do it every 7 years, but they’ve only been here once before, and we’ve lived here over 35 years now.

They said a bucket truck will be here within 48 hours with a huge chipper thingie on it to grind up what they cut down and haul it off. I asked if they could take a few minutes and go all the way across the back of the yard for us with the spinning blade. Sadly, they couldn’t. :0/

We paid a guy to clear quite a bit of the back as a fire brake several years ago. He did a great job, but the stuff started growing up immediately, trying to go back to the way it was and we can’t afford to keep doing it.

Just cutting out the top of the tree on the one side made a huge difference in the amount of sun coming in on the back porch.

My husband drove out to the shop when he came back so he could fill up a low tire on the truck. He decided to mow one spot in the yard that needed it, and now has the mower still running in the shop to use up the rest of the gas in it so he can store it for the winter.

Things are quiet around here right now, but now my husband is awake and fussing at his phone… :0)

I think this is spectacular. I researched at the site above to try to find more pics of this ‘fence,’ but was unsuccessful. :0(

Our irrigation system had a blowout again, so we’ll try to repair it today. Then I’ll need to reprogram the units and then we’ll see if they work the way they should. We had a power outage (off and on over and over) recently, and that may have caused things to go wonky. If the system tried to come on and went off over and over, it may have over-taxed things.

I finished the dog and cat plaques yesterday and will try to get them listed on HandmadeHavenbyLinda on Etsy today. I started a new piece, as well, so I had a fun day yesterday.

The weather is delicious here. It’s much less humid and a cold front is due to come through this morning, bringing cooler and less humid weather. That will be SO welcome!

Enjoy your day.

Good morning!

We had a ‘cold front’ come through overnight, giving us an overcast sky, and a temperature of 100 this afternoon, with a heat index of only 106. RELIEF! :0)

We’re supposed to have the new riding lawn mower delivered. I finally got a text this morning that the delivery window is 9am-1pm today. (We’re delivery #4). Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that the delivery truck can get up our driveway.

I had fun in my art room yesterday, making another wood-burned sign

No ripe tomatoes this morning; one tomato sucker plant doing well, two others are still alive at this point.

Monster Cat (aka Jet) is feeling her oats lately. She is trying to chew on cords, jumps up and tries to ‘snag’ my jeans if I’m walking, or my arm if I’m in my chair. I’m keeping my spray water bottles as handy as possible to discourage this.

I hope you’re doing well and are able to stay comfortable.

I received a text last night from Patty, Linda’s daughter, saying that Linda’s other daughter, Kelly, was in town from Nashville. She wanted to know if we wanted to meet them, and Linda, for Lunch Bunch today! I’m really looking forward to seeing all of them, catching up, and giving/getting wonderful hugs. I don’t know if Kay and her husband, Bud, will be there or not. That would be truly wonderful.

After we go to lunch, we’ll stop at the local grocery to get more canned dog food for Amber. She seems to be doing well on the food made for dogs with sensitive stomachs, with more wet than dry food in each feeding, so we’re sticking with that for now.

I’m making it a point to bring Abby in every afternoon for a love-the-cat fest. We are both enjoying it. She is showing no signs that she is in pain. I can’t keep the diapers on her, so I can only let her in when I can make the time to sit and love her, then put her outside again. Since she has always been an inside/outside cat, this is working for us.

It’s grim, gray, 54 degrees and rainy-looking today, so unless it clears up, it looks like I’ll have to wait on weed-whacking around my veggie planters today. I’m hoping we’ll get some good, soaky rains, helping our veggies get a good start.

James Marvin Phelps – boredpanda.com

Today is DAY 34 on my practicing my yoga stretches every day. Yesterday I was feeling cranky/out-of-sorts/hostile/sore/tired and I have to admit I went ahead and put a star on my desk calendar because I tried really hard to work out in the yard and failed to make any progress. I talked myself into counting THAT as my exercise for the day. I sat in my recliner trying to relax and felt guiltier and guiltier. Finally, I got up, got my mat, and did my practice as I should have, feeling better physically and guilt-free. Does anyone else have to fight with themselves to do what’s right?

Since it looks like my weed whacking will need to be postponed for better weather, I may actually get up to my art room this afternoon.

Make this a good day.

I’m hoping that someone will show up for Lunch Bunch today. No one has called or texted, saying they won’t be there, so we’ll go and hope for the best. Getting older is sometimes the pits. It’s harder to keep on top of things, remember what day it is and what that means for your plans for the day, remember details, remember to check or use your phone, set timers so you don’t lose track of time doing something else, feeling creaky some mornings, and more.

Lunch Bunch as been celebrated for over 25 years now. The challenges above brought into question whether we would continue trying to meet once a week. We agreed we wanted to try to continue. Here’s hoping someone will be there today.

I have an overflowing set of shelves devoted to things I have listed for sale in my Etsy shop, HandmadeHavenByLinda. This afternoon I’m going to try to reorganize the shelves so that I can find things more quickly. I also want to consolidate space so that I can add some things to the site.

I received the latest paperback J.D. Robb In Death series book two days ago. I finished reading it last night. I’ll have to wait 6 months to a year before the new one, Random in Death – which comes out in hard back in January, will be offered in paperback. I may experience withdrawal. :0)

Spacecraft

I received the two sizes of thin rectangular wooden pieces I ordered to use with my wood burning tool, so I have officially run out of excuses not to go up to my art room and get started. I’m still fighting feelings of intimidation, but am finally getting to the point I feel ridiculous. When I start laughing at myself, it’s time to go try to learn something new.

I hope that this is a good day for you, that you stay warm and dry, and that you inject some fun into your day.

I had a text on my phone this morning that Linda’s son, Jeff, from Florida, is here and will be bringing her to Lunch Bunch. HOOOORAAAAAAY! It’ll be great to see both of them. I don’t know yet about Kay and Bud, but haven’t heard from them.

The big storm that was forecast for the weekend is breezing past us today. We’ll only have some spotty showers and some colder temperatures, rather than the wind, rain, possible snow, and flying hairballs previously predicted. I’m not complaining AT ALL! :0) I MAY be able to get outside and work in some planters this afternoon. Win/win.

I’m newly in love. His name is Huntley and I’m hoping he will be the winner of The Voice soon. I think his voice and style are distinctive and I love to watch and listen. I hope you like him, too.

Yesterday I got my exercise for the day vacuuming. It usually isn’t that strenuous, but I noticed that the vacuum hadn’t been getting under the furniture in our bedroom the way I would like, and so took a whisk broom up there. I started using it and was APPALLED at all the ‘stuff’ that came from under the front edge of my husband’s armoire, my bureau, and close up to our bed and built-in bookshelves. I vacuumed after that and was thoroughly pooped when I finished.

I wish you a happy, fun Friday.

I would text, but only one of my friends HAS a text ability. I would call, but no one answers their phone anymore. I would leave a message, but one has a message saying their box is full and the other says she doesn’t get the message… Getting old has its challenges. We’ll see if anyone else is there, getting our lunch before coming home.

My sloth imitation is getting super-good lately. My nails aren’t nearly as long, but I have the laziness down pat. :0) Yesterday I DID vacuum the first floor tiles, but only because the white hairballs were grabbing at our legs as we walked by. I’m doing laundry this morning, but for some reason my get-up-and-go has gotten up and gone.

I AM doing some etching on the gift glassware – a bit each day. I’m really not sure I’ll end up with something I want to give my friends or not.

That’s almost ALL I did yesterday. My husband was fighting with his computer again, chatting with the experts at Microsoft, with me typing for him, twice yesterday – once with a regular expert and once with a Level 2 expert. My husband can now see my computer over the net. He can now save his backup of his computer over here. We thought we had the networking solved going both ways, but found out we didn’t. I told him that I want to throw in the towel at this point so that I can plan my days to get other stuff done.

I got my new “Wreath” Christmas cards listed as a made to order item in my Etsy shop, though, so that’s something.

The jury is still out on my etching of the glassware for Christmas presents for my friends. I followed the directions carefully and I can see the etching after I remove the stencils, but it’s much fainter and more ‘delicate’ than I pictured. I’m going to go ahead and do all the stencils on all the glasses, and then see what I can do to punch things up with my Dremel tool.

This looks similar to what I have. I can write words, create designs, etc.

I hope you’re having a good Friday. We have a mixed bag of good and bad today –

GOOD – Lunch Bunch and the chance to catch up with our friends. We have air conditioning to protect us from the heat, but –

BAD – our hot water ‘quick fix’ by our plumber has lived its life and died. He has a new tankless water heater ordered for us, and I’ll call him to see where we are on that.

BAD – my husband and I both had trouble sleeping last night. We were downstairs reading until about 3am.

GOOD – my husband is catching a few extras z’s now before Lunch Bunch and we can take a nap later if we need one.

I hope there is a lot more good than bad in YOUR day today.

Heat Indices

5News

The local TV station says heat index ‘up to 108’ in my area. My computer heat thingie says “110”. (You say tomaaato and I say tomahhhto…. ) At least we’re agreed that it’s TOOOOOOOOO HOT!

Kay and Bud were at Lunch Bunch. We went to the local grocery afterwards to get some stuff. Even with the truck A/C on, we were hot. By the time we unloaded the truck, we were both wilting. We got a cold drink when we finished putting things away.

Needless to say, I’m NOT working outside now. I’ll check to see how things feel at around 5 this afternoon (though the heat warning is active until 9pm), plus whether the planter I want to weed is in the direct sun or not, and then decide. We don’t have anything scheduled tomorrow, so maybe I’ll just wait until tomorrow morning.

___________

I would like your opinion on something, please. My friend, Marsha, suggested that I show more of what I’m listing for sale on HandmadeHavenbyLinda, my Etsy site, on this blog on a regular basis. I would really like to know what you think. Would you rather I didn’t do that? Would you find it irritating?

______________

Guess what! In the category of ‘adding insult to injury‘, the Dyson people said on their website that they are no longer making the battery-powered vacuum I have and are not offering parts for it. We got a battery that was supposed to be compatible with it a couple of weeks ago. It won’t charge and make the vacuum usable, so we went to the Dyson site. NOW we’ve ordered another one that is supposed to be compatible that has more power. If that doesn’t work, we’ll either have to buy another vacuum or I’ll just use my regular vacuum.

Please try to stay cool and hydrated.

Severe Weather

Ozark Radio News

Weather across the U.S. may be severe today, so we need to keep a close eye out. I think I read that 50 million people are under threat of severe storms, gusty winds, hail, etc. today.

Unless things turn bad quickly, we’re planning to go ahead to Lunch Bunch this morning and then to pick up a prescription and groceries before coming home. Of course, this is all subject to change if we see flying hairballs.

If we’re lucky enough to have this bad stuff bypass us, I plan to check my tomato plants and harvest the rest of my heads of lettuce this afternoon.

Hopefully, we’ll all come through this threat intact and safe.

Be careful.

It’ll be interesting to see how we get to town and Lunch Bunch this morning. They were working on the bridge between here and town, and there was a sign we couldn’t see as we went last time. It turned out the sign said, “Road Closed.” The crew working on the bridge let us through. My husband is stubborn enough he went back through the same way. We haven’t been to town since.

When I reminded him that we needed to leave a bit early since we will need to take the back way into town, he scoffed at me (as he often does.) This shows me he’ll go the regular way just to prove me wrong, and will turn around and go the back way if needed – making our trip over twice as long as usual. (Do you begin to see why I’m considering digging a hole for him in the back yard?

My efforts to lose the lard are showing definite progress now. As of this morning, I’m down 7 pounds. The number I have ‘left to lose’ and the national debt look similar, but I’m just taking it one day at a time, trying not to default – as Congress flirts with too many times.

I’ve finished weeding 2-1/2 veggie boxes in my raised bed, square foot garden thus far. I have four boxes planted, and my goal is to catch up on the weeding before we’re due for rain tomorrow afternoon.

Since Mother Nature has snapped her fingers, changing us from spring to summer in Arkansas suddenly, I’m afraid I’ll need to then clean up the head lettuce plants and decide which to harvest. The weather is getting too warm now for them to last much longer. The happy side of the weather change is that my tomato plants should love it. :0)

Enjoy your Friday and your weekend, surrounded by love and laughter.

Friday Thoughts 9-30-2022

It’s frightening how quickly things can change. I’m still reeling from the before and after pictures of Ian’s legacy on southwest Florida and the islands west of there. So many people are devastated. It just rips your heart out, doesn’t it. My good Florida friends thankfully weathered things fine. Today my thoughts are also with my SIL and her husband in Charlotte, hoping things go well for them.

Final Fantasy XIV

We go to Lunch Bunch in about an hour and a half to catch up with our good friends. I’m not sure who will be there, but I’ll be happy to see whoever is. Afterwards, we’ll do errands. I’m so thankful that my life is ‘routine and SOME might think boring’ right now. :0)

Cheezburger

Today is DAY 77 of my daily yoga practice. It’s becoming a normal part of my afternoon, and I consciously make time for it sometime before dinner. I’m still on modified practice because of a spot in my back, but I found a neck pillow that I put under my back that allows me to do most of my poses.

I find it hard to believe that today is the last day of September. Our mornings are definitely cooler, and our afternoons are calming down, now, too. I couldn’t be happier. Heat and humidity really sap my strength. I’m much more able to function when the weather is cool. :0)

We had a flurry of activity yesterday afternoon. I received an email from our tax guy, saying he had THOUGHT that our returns were done a long time ago, but that his people had just finished things up YESTERDAY. They sent forms to us for us to sign and send back to them. We don’t owe anything and we don’t have to go to the slammer, but this was really disconcerting. We’ll still need to go get our records and our copies of the returns, but the important part is being handled. Whew!

I hope you’re staying safe and well today.

The Economic Times

I was able to get and print 2 of the 3 things I need from our investment accounts this morning. As soon as I can get the third, we can bag up or tax stuff and take it to our CPA. I always feel so much better when my part of this is done for another year.

I have all appendages crossed that our weather cooperates with me so I can get my massage next week. We’re supposed to get rain Monday and Tuesday, with a possible ‘wintry mix’ Wednesday, just in time for my massage on Thursday. My body would really be grateful if we can keep that appointment.

I’m doing better with my yoga, though. I’m starting to loosen up again, although it will be awhile before I get back to where I was. Why do I have to prove to myself over and over again that this old woman really NEEDS these stretches? I could win a prize for ‘hardest head’ I think. I’m also doing better at keeping my mouth shut this week. I’ve lost 2.5 lbs and hope to continue this, earning gold stars on my calendar. :0)

We’ll leave for Lunch Bunch in about an hour. It was SOOOO good to finally have most of us there last week. I just got a text saying two of us won’t be there. :0( Hopefully, Kay will be there.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday.
