I’m feeling dumb. My ‘smart’ watch died a cruel death suddenly and wouldn’t recharge no matter what I did. I ended up getting out my old ‘dumb’ watch again. The trouble is, it’s not only the WATCH that’s ‘dumb,’ it’s ME! I’ve set the day and date several days in a row now, but then it’s wrong when I check it. I THINK I’ve found where I can specify ‘a.m.’ or ‘p.m.’ this morning, but ‘time will tell.’ hahahhaahhha – I guess with all the problems in the world, this one ranks pretty low…

It’s foggy and surreal here this morning, but it’s supposed to burn off by lunch time. It’s pretty to look out behind the house at the valley below us. I’ll try to get a couple of pictures.

Top of our driveway looking down toward the road.
Behind the house, almost to the easement.

This is the parrot I’ve been working on in my art room. It is wood-burned and hand-painted on a fairly thick piece of wood. My husband’s reaction when I showed it to him was, “It’s – – – – – – – colorful.” Hahahahaha. He keeps me grounded, although I DO think I’m learning. I’m having a lot of fun trying new things with my wood-burning tools.

Hoping for a quiet day here. I’ll try my new “Keto Cheeseburger Casserole” tonight. I’ll put the casserole together after lunch and then get it into the oven about 6:15. Fingers crossed.

Have a wonderful day.

Foggy, Wet Sunday

It was a surprise to wake up with thick fog this morning. I looked out our bathroom window and almost couldn’t see ANYTHING! It’s clearing up fast now, but it was surreal.

We had quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon, starting about 2:30 and raining off and on almost until we went to bed around midnight. It’s so wet I’ll wait to decide if I’ll try to finish weeding my garden today or not.

We’re going to go replenish supplies at some point, but that’s the only ‘plan’ we have for the day.

I’m beginning to see a pattern that if MyFitnessPal.com says, “You’re not eating enough” I MIGHT actually be down a bit on the scale the next morning. I had made the calorie calculator happy the day before yesterday and gained half a pound. This is NOT what I’m trying to do, so carefully went a bit under that yesterday and got the half pound back off. I’ll keep playing with it. I know I’m eating healthy, and have lost 7 lbs so far. What I MAY be figuring out is that since I’m not as active as I used to be, the 1200 calories per day may be too much. I’ll research it.

The big push lately is to increase our fiber without increasing our sugar overmuch. My husband is a Type II diabetic, although he denies this, saying ‘he has a sugar problem.’ Anyway, I researched and found a list of some fiber-rich foods that I know he likes that we can add to our routine. We’ll just have to be careful with monitoring his sugar readings.

Happy Sunday!

“Foggy, Foggy Night…”

The morning fog has already cleared to a large extent, but I wanted to share the feeling with you. You can’t see the valley that we can usually enjoy behind our house. We can LOOK at it, so we consider it ‘ours.’ :0)

More fog, but this photo also gives you an idea of the ‘weed trees’ that I’m trying to cut down a few at at time. They’re taller than they look here, and when I lop one off, it falls on me no matter where I stand. Not heavy, though, just irritating, and a little of this work goes a long way.

This morning we’ll gather our trash and drive the humongous trash can down to the bottom of the driveway to leave it for emptying. We’ll get our mail, and then make a quick trip to town for some supplies and maybe look for a new leaf blower. On the way back up the driveway, we’ll try to get more evergreen branches cut down so they won’t encroach on the driveway so badly. (I don’t know how long it would take for things to grow back as they were before we built our home over 35 years ago, but I don’t think it would be long.)

Hida Tool

It looks like I have today and tomorrow before we’re due for heavy rain Wednesday and Thursday. I think I’ll tackle the weed trees and see if I can reopen our view a bit.

Happy Monday!
