Yesterday I was sharing some beautiful embroidery with you. A kind person commented to my post, confirming that it was, indeed, ribbon embroidery, and saying good things about Dicraft. I said I would check it out.
Dicraft.com is a beautiful website where Di offers freebies, books, supplies, designs, and kits for all kinds of beautiful embroidery. It’s amazing – truly. An example of this is that Di was frustrated because she couldn’t find ribbons she liked for her work. They just weren’t the color and FEEL she was looking for. So – she designed her own, using silk and organza ribbons, and painting the range of ribbons, and now selling them to the public.
If you’re interested, use the link above to explore the website. Warning: bring tissues because you might have a drooling problem…. :0)

I find a lot of artists who can make beautiful embroidery. Rosa Andreeva, though, takes it to another level. I don’t know if she uses all different colors of cloth stretched on a frame as a background, or paints the background, but I love that each is different. Her embroidery is like a painting, and I love the different levels of 3-dimensional accents so one stands out from the rest. I really like the attention she pays to the background, bringing it into the embroidery with beads, and flower petals, flowing around the main design. Just extraordinary.
When I posted about some really nice 3-D embroidery awhile back, Carol Jansons wrote to me, explaining a bit of how it was done and sending me some examples of her own work. I was really impressed. I’m delighted to tell you that I got her permission to share a couple of examples of her work with you. :0)

Truly impressive, lovely work by Carol Jansons. Thanks for letting me share, Carol.

I’m fascinated. I don’t know what she does so the leaves are strong enough to withstand being embroidered. I love the whole idea, and the fact that she embellishes her work with real twigs or slivers of bark, etc. is the perfect finishing touch. Just lovely.

Hidreley on BoredPanda.com shared the work of artist Laura Dalla Vecchia, who does embroidery on real leaves. She adds twigs and other real embellishments that I think is a fascinating combination. I don’t know what she does to the leaves to make them so they don’t get brittle and can withstand something like embroidering, but what a gorgeous result!
