I WANT this doggie.

Pinterest – (Sorry I can’t read the signature. )

My day is starting off pretty nicely. My scales weren’t smirking at me quite so badly this morning, and it was satisfying to break into ‘new territory’ on the numbers. It gives me new motivation to lose the lard and move what is left. :0)

It’s 27 degrees F. right now, but it’s supposed to get up in the high 50s or low 60s this afternoon. Woo HOO! I’ll plan on using the opportunity to blow the leaves away from the front porch (buried now) and the sidewalks front and back.

It’s a good thing you can’t actually see or hear me right now. I’ve sneezed 47 times (more or less) in a row. And, at a certain point, I started saying bad words in between sneezes. I’ve gone through a bunch of kleenex (I should have bought stock in the company). I don’t have ‘allergies’ as such, but occasionally I’ll have a bout like this. It lasts so long and I sneeze so hard, my poor stomach muscles are sore for a day or so afterwards…

My husband liked a new recipe so much lately that he asked if I would make it again. So right after lunch I’m going to put some chicken in the crock pot. The recipe is called, “Creamy Slow Cooker Chicken with Bacon & Cheese (low carb & keto). It’s from Kasey Trenum.com. I’m going to make twice as much as I did the first time so we have some good leftovers.

I started a new piece in my art room yesterday. It will be challenging. I’m going to try to wood burn a “parrot in a jungle.” I have no idea how it will turn out, but I’ve been dreaming about it for several days now. I got the basic layout done yesterday and hope to get upstairs to work on it more today. :0)

Have a wonderful day.

I hope that this is a really nice month for you.

Yesterday my wonderful hair stylist, Michael Remillard from Tangles in Greenwood, performed a miracle and I now look more like someone had a plan. My hair is thin and fine. Michael cuts it so that I can wash it and blow it dry in the mornings, just perfect for our lifestyle.

That took up most of the morning, though, so I missed the time I normally do sessions with weights between blog posts. (I didn’t finish my posts for the day until around 3pm.) I did, however, do 45 minutes of yoga stretches in the afternoon and felt good afterwards. An added bonus was that Monster Cat didn’t attack my feet with teeth and claws as I relaxed and stretched. :0)

Keto Chili – Suzanne Ryan – Simply Keto

Today I’m hoping is a more regular day, with no drama, so I can indulge myself in my routine of blog posts and exercises with weights in the morning, get the makings of keto chili in the crock pot after lunch, spend some good time up in my art room (trying to make Christmas presents for friends) and do a good session of yoga before dinner.

I hope that you have a super nice day today and that it’s only the beginning of a stellar month for you.

It’s a beautiful day here. We are supposedly at the end of our unseasonably warm weather here in Arkansas, with cooler weather to come and possibly some rain to break our drought a bit. I have absolutely no complaints.

Yesterday I spent about 3 hours in my art room, trying to get started on reorganizing everything in there due to shelf supports failing suddenly and dumping a ton of ‘stuff’ onto the floor. These are really strong shelves, but I had gotten really careless on realizing how much I was asking from the brackets. I’ve ordered replacement brackets (plus some extras) that should be delivered sometime tomorrow. Until then, there is lot of rethinking and reorganizing I can do.

Yesterday I concentrated on moving heavy stuff to lower shelves and low cabinets. I have the wall shelves empty now of almost everything. I’m going to use the lower shelf that avalanched as storage for some of groups of different types of paint when we put it back up. I’m concentrating on distributing anything with weight.

I’m certainly getting my exercise with this while paying for my carelessness. I’m bending over, moving things off lower shelves and out of lower cabinets, hauling things around and relocating them. I’m throwing away a bunch of stuff, as well, trying to create ‘areas,’ such as one set of shelves for stationery and note card supplies (with the heavier stuff at the bottom now, of course. ) :0)

It looks like a bomb hit in there, and will until most everything has found its new home and is straightened up. I’ll spend a bunch of time up there today and see what sense I can make of things.

I wish you a happy Friday.

I LOVE this sweet little owl!

Yesterday was eventful with the crews from our power company cutting down stuff that might encroach on the power lines. They said they are scheduled to come out every 7 years, but they’ve only been out once before in the 37 years we’ve been here.

We actually are due for several different crews. The one with the spinning blade that did the larger work was here yesterday. This was followed by a crew with chain saws and loppers. A third crew will follow at some point with a chipper machine to chew up what the others cut down and haul it away. Finally, mowers are supposed to try to cut the remaining grass. It’s very rocky, so I don’t know how successful they will be.

I took bottles of water out to the chain saw and lopper crew, asking if they did outside jobs or knew someone who did. I got the name and number of a guy they trusted, who does outside jobs on the weekends.

Ueda Photography

I called. He came out yesterday and gave me an estimate on two jobs – one to clear the weed trees across the back of the yard, and the other to cut back more of the trees on either side of the driveway. He actually told me he wouldn’t charge for the weed trees! We are expecting him by 9 this morning to get started on what he said would be a two-day job! HOOOOOORAAAAAAAY!

___________

I drank the first protein shake yesterday in my efforts to lose my lard and improve kidney function issues. I tried Premier Protein Chocolate High Protein Shake. Each bottle is 11.5 oz. 160 calories, 1g sugar, 24 vitamins and minerals. 3g fat, 20mg cholesterol, 190mg sodium, 5g carbs, 3g fiber (making the NET carb total 2), 30g protein. It was good! Not like having a chocolate shake from Sonic, but just fine. I can live with this easily. I drank it mid afternoon, when usually I’m feeling a bit low and hungry and it perked me right up. I’m really happy about this addition to my diet. I’ll tweak things around the shake so I’m staying within boundaries on everything.

I spent time in my art room, finishing a couple more signs and starting a couple more. It is so relaxing to be up there, able to concentrate on trying to make something, away from stress for a bit, totally engrossed in trying to use my new wood burning tool and tips effectively.

Today and tomorrow are due to be record-breakers temperature-wise, but then we’re supposed to have a cold front come through tomorrow evening to bring the temperatures down to fall weather. I’m ready.

I hope you’re having a nice day.

Ours should be quiet – always a good thing around here. We have no errands, other than driving down to get the mail at some point. Our weather is nice, and is supposed to be getting nicer on Monday, with cooler temperatures and no rain.

I had an extremely pleasant chat with our son yesterday. We use a site called, “Slack.” It’s wonderful that I can pretend he’s close, even though he’s across the world from us. It’s such a luxury to be able to leave pics and messages and know that he’ll see and respond very quickly. Yesterday we ‘typed’ to each other in real time, so we got to catch up on several things.

Indian Hills Signs – Vince, the Sign Guy

Happily, I lost a bit more of my lard this morning. I’m now down 42.4 pounds from my heaviest. I’ve found a combination that is working for me, resulting in slow, steady loss. I’m getting used to not snacking (I was particularly bad after dinner) and am drinking a glass of water if my stomach thinks my throat has been cut. I still have to push myself to exercise, but I actually feel better if I do…

Play Street Museum

I’m playing almost daily in my art room and feeling much happier as a result. I can concentrate on my latest project, getting lost in trying to create something. That makes me sleep a bit better, so it’s a win/win.

Getting old is the pits, but it helps when you stay busy, doing things that make you smile. I’m lucky to have lots of hobbies. Before I know it, another day has whizzed past my head. :0)

Healing Hands

I have a massage this morning. I’m really looking forward to Lynn Moody’s healing hands, finding and easing all of my sore or stiff parts. I’ll also try to visit with my friend, Linda, while I’m at the retirement place. My husband forgot to get the trash can when he drove down to get the mail yesterday, so I’ll do that when I get home.

Yesterday I did the ‘Fit Sticks’ warm-up video plus two more in the series. Each series of exercises features a small group of women using drum sticks on elevated exercise balls, moving to the beat of a nice song. Since I don’t have an exercise ball, I just moved with them, doing basically the same moves, holding 3-pound weights. By the end of the third video, I was tired and didn’t want to overdo, so stopped. I plan to do them again today. It was fun. I followed that up with my yoga, so the weights and the stretching seems like a good combination.

I’m seeing good results (for me) on the scales lately, getting closer to my interim goal. I’m hopeful I’m on the right track for this to continue.

I finished this set of 4 wooden painted Christmas ornaments yesterday.

This is the back, waiting for personalization before I spray them for protection.

I’m having a lot of fun in my art room, working on various things. It’s good to have some time to myself, doing something fun and challenging.

We bombed out on putting a new innards kit in the toilet tank yesterday. My husband isn’t strong enough to get the new part ‘stuffed’ into the inner front of the tank. I’ve called our plumber, asking him to put us on his list for whenever he can work us in.

Our project for this afternoon is changing out some fluorescents over the entertainment center in the living room today.

People in the path of Hurricane Helene are in my thoughts today. I hope everyone comes through this safely.

I’ll have to wait on most of my blog posts because we need to leave to run errands soon.

Monster Cat has taken up residence this morning on the table beside my computer to ‘help’ me write blog posts. She was driving me nuts a second ago rummaging around the feet of my chair. That’s a problem because my chair is on wheels and I really don’t want to run over her little feet. I stopped and very carefully moved the chair – to find one of her little catnip mice. I threw it in the middle of the room and she immediately ran and pounced on it. With her ‘help,’ I MIGHT get THIS post finished before we need to leave.

My second ‘helper’ is Amber. She is trying to guilt me into letting her out again. She’s in a barky frame of mind this morning, though, so I feel it’s rude to let her bother the neighbors. I let her out first thing in the morning while I’m taking care of Monster Cat. She comes in with great enthusiasm, hoping to get a treat. VERY SOON after that, when I’ve finished the morning chores and am at the computer, she comes and sits beside my chair, trying to get me to let her out again. That has already happened this morning, and yet she is doing it again. She only stays out 5 seconds or so, then barks to get back in. I don’t know what her deal is, other than maybe laughing that I’m pretty well trained, for a human.

Yesterday I TRIED to do the video with the stomach exercises. The backs of my legs were so sore, though, I simply couldn’t do it. I gave up, took some Tylenol, and went on to do my yoga stretches (with Monster Cat on the back porch). I’m still sore this morning, but I’ll try to do at least SOME of each of the exercises today and see how it goes. If I can do HALF as many reps as I’m supposed to be doing, that’s more than I HAVE been doing and should be good.

I’ll play in the art room, plus I’m planning to try a chicken recipe for our dinner tonight. I have the recipe, which is low-carb, and then another recipe by the same author for low-carb BBQ sauce. I’ll let you know if these are good.

Enjoy your day.

This is one of the wood-burning pieces I finished yesterday.

This is the second piece. I listed both on HandmadeHavenByLinda on Etsy.

I’m having a really good time and learning every day – a really fun combination.

I’m going to try to finish the weeding of our flower planters today. It’s nice this morning, so I’ll try to get outside as soon as I finish here. :0)

Low Carb Chili by KetoKarma.com – Suzanne Ryan, Simply Keto

I’ll get the makings of this in the crock pot today for our dinner tonight.

I’ll make a new system disk and then back up my data on the computer, play in my art room, read more of a book I’m enjoying, and that will be most of my Sunday.

I hope you’re having a great one, too.

PineTreeArt-Etsy

I love everything about this painting. I’m going to go to Pine Tree Art on Etsy and see what else they have to offer.

I have the second load of laundry in the washer now and vacuumed the first floor tiled areas this morning (pantry, kitchen, dining area, utility room, back foyer to living room and two half baths), since dog hair was in clumps and was sailing around the floor as you walked by, lifting by the air conditioning.

I’m planning to spend time in the art room this afternoon, trying to finish my ‘cat’ and ‘dog’ wood-burned plaques. All that remains is varnishing both sides of each plaque and then gluing the pegs in.

I’m going to have to ask my husband to see what I’m doing wrong on our TV. I’m trying to add NBC to our custom list of channels so that I can then record the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Baltimore Ravens football game today. We’ll have some lunch soon and I’ll see if we can figure out what I’m missing then. I hate technology sometimes.

Our weather is wonderful right now. I may go out and do some weed whacking after lunch.

I hope you have an enjoyable day.

Happy August 2024

Poster My Wall

In Arkansas we’re welcoming August today with a heat index this afternoon of 112. GACK! Happily, I had a productive morning outside yesterday, reprogramming our irrigation units to each run 15 minutes. We monitored the watering yesterday afternoon and all went well.

I didn’t find any ripe tomatoes, but 2 of my tomato suckers plants are still alive, so I’m a bit hopeful now. I started on one end of the house and got 5 flower planters weeded before I got too hot. They were in the shade and the ‘excessive heat warning’ didn’t start until noon. Still, with the outside work, I came in wringing wet. I showered and washed my hair for the second time yesterday before lunch. :0)

My husband took our dog, Amber, to fill up the gas cans in preparation for the new mower to be delivered some time tomorrow. We have four, so we each grabbed two from the back of the truck to take out to the shop.

I haven’t decided if I’ll work outside again this morning or take the day off. Even with working out there in the coolest part of the day – in the shade – it took me a long time to get back to a normal temperature.

The Organized Mama

I’m going to try to get up to my art room today. I’m starting to ‘wood burn’ in my dreams now, a sure sign I need to get up there and get the new piece started.

Stay cool and enjoy your day.

Each time the Mega Millions/Power Ball lottery gets to an astronomical amount, we buy $10 worth of tickets. That $10 buys hopes and dreams until the drawing, when they are again dashed. Until the next time. Someone in New Jersey won the 1.1 billion dollar prize – the one that could/should have been ours. :0(

Yesterday there was no hot water when I washed my hair in the kitchen sink as I do each morning. I waited and waited with the water running, then gave up and quickly washed it in the cold, cold water. I told my husband about the problem, but he basically blew me off, asking me if I had run the water. Pffffft! Later on I brought it up again, asking what I was supposed to look for in the basement where our instant hot water heater lives. He told me I should run the water longer. (Urge to kill.) Finally, mid afternoon I asked him again to look at the problem. He basically went down to the basement to make me quit bothering him, finding that there was, indeed, a problem. (Go figure)

It turned out that the battery backup thingie he had put between the main power and the hot water system had failed. When that happened. It turned off the hot water system. When we removed the backup and plugged the system into the main power, everything turned on.

We decided, after a discussion, that since our power almost never went off, and was already backed up by the generator, we didn’t need the backup thingie. We made a note of what humongous battery it needs and stored it.

Vine Pair – (this is similar to what I plan to ask our dirt work guy for for my husband)

My husband FINALLY had the good grace to apologize for blowing me off, suggesting I was ‘forgetting’ to run the water…

Ground was broken around the 1st of this month for the Greenwood Bypass. In the image above, the solid line is the current road and the dotted line is the bypass to be constructed. Two bridges are due to be totally reconstructed, as well as the road. It’s due to be finished – in two phases – by 2026, or so they estimate.

We use the solid road now. It looks like a war zone on both sides of the road now, with downed, broken, and piled up trees, what looks like a rerouting of a creek (yes!) and it’s not clear yet if they’ll finish the dotted part before they close access to the road we use to get to town. This is supposed to relieve congestion through town by people who would prefer to just bypass the square and go on to Ft. Smith or wherever else they would like to go. What worries me is that they’ll cut off access to the east side of Greenwood, where we are. Time will tell.

My veggie garden came through the freeze yesterday just fine and I didn’t have to cover things last night. I checked this morning and all looks good.

Things got busy yesterday due to the hot water issue and time got away from me. I had to hurry to get my yoga practice in before dinner and didn’t get up to my art room. I’m hoping to change that today.

I hope you have a great day.

Wow! It’s COLD here in Arkansas this morning! My computer says it’s 34 right now, and the sun is shining brightly, but we have some wind, and my computer says it FEELS like it’s 25. That is QUITE a big change from what we’ve enjoyed lately. I froze to death getting some pictures while checking my new veggie garden plants to see if they were still with us.

Spinach and Lettuce
Spinach, lettuce, and some very cold tomato plants.
These tomato plants were protected a bit more by the back of the house and the porch.

I felt encouraged to see this azalea plant with one bloom and the buds in the middle of this cold snap. It’s supposed to get to 56 this afternoon. Somehow that just isn’t very encouraging right now. I would really like to continue my weed whacking, even if it’s just a little bit each day, but this is just too cold now.

Today is a quiet day for us. No errands. My husband may decide to get the mail later, and we’ll check to see if our trash can has been emptied, but that’s it. I like it.

I found a thing on Pinterest about making Keto ‘chicken fingers’ from canned chicken, an egg, and some cheddar cheese. I may try that this afternoon. We’re going to finish up the hot dogs this evening. (My husband gets regular hot dogs and some kind of chips. I’m having hot dogs with Mission 0 carbs Tortillas.) When we did this recently, he said mine looked, “Rude.” I just smiled – happy that I can enjoy almost-normal hot dogs without guilt. :0)

I received a text last night from Patty, Linda’s daughter, saying that Linda’s other daughter, Kelly, was in town from Nashville. She wanted to know if we wanted to meet them, and Linda, for Lunch Bunch today! I’m really looking forward to seeing all of them, catching up, and giving/getting wonderful hugs. I don’t know if Kay and her husband, Bud, will be there or not. That would be truly wonderful.

After we go to lunch, we’ll stop at the local grocery to get more canned dog food for Amber. She seems to be doing well on the food made for dogs with sensitive stomachs, with more wet than dry food in each feeding, so we’re sticking with that for now.

I’m making it a point to bring Abby in every afternoon for a love-the-cat fest. We are both enjoying it. She is showing no signs that she is in pain. I can’t keep the diapers on her, so I can only let her in when I can make the time to sit and love her, then put her outside again. Since she has always been an inside/outside cat, this is working for us.

It’s grim, gray, 54 degrees and rainy-looking today, so unless it clears up, it looks like I’ll have to wait on weed-whacking around my veggie planters today. I’m hoping we’ll get some good, soaky rains, helping our veggies get a good start.

James Marvin Phelps – boredpanda.com

Today is DAY 34 on my practicing my yoga stretches every day. Yesterday I was feeling cranky/out-of-sorts/hostile/sore/tired and I have to admit I went ahead and put a star on my desk calendar because I tried really hard to work out in the yard and failed to make any progress. I talked myself into counting THAT as my exercise for the day. I sat in my recliner trying to relax and felt guiltier and guiltier. Finally, I got up, got my mat, and did my practice as I should have, feeling better physically and guilt-free. Does anyone else have to fight with themselves to do what’s right?

Since it looks like my weed whacking will need to be postponed for better weather, I may actually get up to my art room this afternoon.

Make this a good day.

This painting lifts my spirits and makes me smile. I LOVE all the light, too.

I slept fine last night, but I keep finding myself staring into space instead of doing whatever it is I’m intending to do. Hopefully, my coffee will make me more alert.

We’re having a beautiful, cold morning here with lots of sunshine. The weekend brought us pretty cold mornings, but the weather forecasters are saying a nice warm-up for the next 10 days. YEA!!!

Today marks Week 4 since my husband’s fall. Last night reminded my husband that he has some healing left to do. He was in bed while I was finishing up. He said he would turn his bed light on, but couldn’t lift his arm to do it, having to roll over to reach the switch. We agreed that he’s healing well, but needs to be mindful that he’s not fully healed yet and needs to be careful.

I’m going to make spaghetti for dinner tonight, making enough for a couple more dinners that can go in the freezer. Yoga this afternoon, maybe art room, as well. I hope that your Sunday is an enjoyable one.

Ugh

Bright Side

Getting rained on for the 5 minutes it rained yesterday turned out to be a blessing. We redoubled our efforts to get our yard work done. I got the back rock bed weeded and my husband sprayed around the deck with KillzAll weed killer.

I say it was a blessing because we’re under a heat advisory again today, with ‘feels like’ temperature of 108 this afternoon. Since my comfort zone stops in the high 80’s, this is uncivilized, in my opinion. If it hadn’t rained, we might have been more lackadaisical about getting our work done outside. Since we were teed off when we came in the house dripping yesterday, this is definitely a case of time bringing better perspective. :0)

Raising Children Network

I also got our first floor carpeting vacuumed yesterday, so I’m giving myself permission to play in my art room after lunch. I have three things in various stages of completion, plus I want to try out my new engraver on a scrap glass jar to see what I’m able to do with it. :0)

WHAT?

As you can see, Fort Smith and Greenwood (and Fayetteville – where my sweet cousin Murray now lives – welcome to AR, Murray! :0) ) are in an ‘excessive heat warning’ today, with ‘feels-like’ temps of between 110-120. UGH.

We’re getting ready to drive our trash down and do some errands before coming home and being inside the rest of the day. Our wonderful bug spray guy (who sprays for everything, including elephants) is due to come this afternoon.

I got started yesterday etching the glassware I’m working on, putting my initials and the year on the bottom of the glasses. I decided that I want a smaller Dremel that has variable speeds and is smaller and lighter in order to hopefully increase my control. I have that ordered, and so will switch to some other things I want to try in my art room until the new one arrives.

Hoping for a quiet, albeit too hot, day. I hope you’re safe and happy wherever you are.

As soon as I finish with blog posts, I’m heading outside to see if I can get our back yard weed whacked. I’ll do short sessions with lots of rest and hydrating in-between; but I would like to get that done today. I’ll also check to see if we have tomatoes to bring in. It’s been so hot that most of the garden veggies are gone. When we have heat indices to 115, there is no way to get enough water to garden plants. If you push it, you end up with ‘boiled’ plants, so it’s best to just give it up if we’re having a summer like this.

It’s dark and stormy-looking right now. Some of the forecasts say the rain will stop before we’re supposed to leave to join our friends at Lunch Bunch. We’ll probably go anyway, but we won’t go grocery shopping if it’s pouring. It’s nice not to wake up to fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk temperatures this morning. It’s only 80 right now.

My husband got the belt back on the mower and finished the yard yesterday, so HIS part is finished. I was going to weed whack today. Maybe I’ll still be able to do that later today.

I spent yesterday afternoon trying to find out why our American Express card charge wouldn’t go through for the meds I was trying to buy for my husband. The phone tree thingy said the card was fine, but the chat lady said the card had been canceled due to inactivity. We reapplied, were accepted and should get new cards in the next week or so. Then the NEXT time we order the meds, we can use the new card.

No time spent in my art room yesterday, but maybe things will smile on me this afternoon, no new crises will have erupted, and I can spend awhile playing. There’s always a CHANCE! :0)

Meanwhile, I wish you a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend.

SUMMER –

The heat index is forecast to be between 110-114 this afternoon. If anyone is taking a vote, I vote, “No, Thank you.” I’m going to TRY to get my husband to wait until around dinner time to mow, though he was out walking up and down our steep driveway yesterday while I programmed, trying to get our two driveway detectors to work the way they should. I’ve gotten better at grabbing and wetting a washcloth to put on the back of his neck and wipe his face while simultaneously pouring him a cold drink while getting him to his chair before he collapses. He promises to make better decisions, but he lies. While he’s mowing, I’ll check our tomatoes and hopefully spray to kill some weeds.

Ala Hamdon – 500px Blog

Happy Sunday!

It’s beautiful here in Arkansas today – 50 already and sunny, with a high of 67 forecast. I’ll take it and enjoy every minute!

This has been a productive week for me.

  • I lost 4 pounds this week, although no celebratory balloons yet. This is the loss of pounds I had GAINED over the past two months or so, so until I get into new territory, I’m just quietly pleased I’ve finally come up with an eating plan that seems to be working – at least so far.
  • I finished getting our tax stuff together. I’ll call first thing tomorrow to make sure they are open (President’s Day) before we make the trip to Ft. Smith, but we plan to leave it with our tax guy.
  • I’ve been spending time in my art room, working on a couple of projects and having a good time.
  • I’ve been cleaning some things in the house.

Also, in the “Big Relief” category –

  • My husband has ordered a used PC already assembled, that we hope we can use in the shop. After pricing the parts needed to rebuild one of the computers we had, we found out it was cheaper to do it this way. Hooray!
  • My husband suggested that we could have someone else change out the brake pads in the truck, rather than our trying to do this ourselves. Our appointment is tomorrow at 10:00. Hooray!

I hope today is a good one for you, too.

Isn’t this a beautiful photo?

The rain has FINALLY stopped, though we’ll have a rainy week ahead – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and the following Monday if the forecasters are correct. If it’s ONLY rain, I’ll try not to gripe too much. :0)

My husband is still trying to fix computer problems. Yesterday he finally got our two office computers to see each other, so now we’re able to share files, access what we need, send things to each other, etc. NICE. He was able to upgrade the operating system on the shop computer, but he is beating his head against the wall trying to get the updates downloaded to it. So that’s the focus today. I’ll do what I need to on mine asap and turn mine off, and we’ll also turn the DirecTV off so that all our rural Internet power can focus on that. Fingers crossed.

While he’s doing that, I’m enjoying time in my art room. I’m trying some new techniques and just generally smiling up there while listening to some music. I’m also on #38, Concealed in Death, on my re-reading of my J.D.Robb/Nora Roberts In Death series collection before diving into the newest paperback, #55, Desperation in Death. The newest book in the series, #56, Encore in Death will be out in hardback at the end of this month, but it’ll be awhile before I can order it in paperback.

Since the sun is shining today, I’ll try to do some walking in the yard this afternoon when it warms up. It’s 35 right now, but it’s supposed to get to 54 this afternoon, I think. It’s been so gloomy lately that it almost hurts to look out the window at the effect of the bright, happy sunshine!

Along with several gazillion others, we will plan to watch the Super Bowl tomorrow. I’m hoping for a really competitive game – a nail-biter to the last minute.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Sunny, Bright Sunday 1-15-2023

I found this and walked with them yesterday. I was reminded how much I need this by my hips talking to me a couple of times, but I think this will do me a lot of good. It’s short, gets me moving, and I like this mother and daughter.

I also did a careful, abbreviated version of my yoga practice yesterday for the first time in a couple of weeks. I have no clue why my right upper arm is hurting, but I’ve decided to try to work through it very carefully and see how it goes. ONE DAY AT A TIME.

I’m also being more successful in NOT eating in-between meals. This week has been a good start. If I think I’m hungry, I’m trying to drink some water and see how I feel later. If I’m STILL hungry, I have some dried fruit to eat. 2-1/2 pounds down for the week.

Our weather is nice today, so I’m planning to at least walk around outside this afternoon. It’s hard to believe it’s January. The high will be around 62!

I’m thinking about at least spending some time in my art room today. I have ideas rattling around in my brain during the day, and am dreaming about them at night, so it’s time. :0)

I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday, too.

Cold Friday 1-13-2023

Animal Services

It’s 28 degrees F. right now – not really that cold, but the wind is blowing and it FEELS really cold, particularly after the springlike weather we’ve been enjoying. The cold front came through and thankfully the storms didn’t cause any damage here. I’m full of gratitude that we’re good here. My heart goes out to the people suffering from the vagaries of the weather.

I may actually get up to my art room today. I have some ideas rattling around in my head that I’d like to try. :0)

My husband is a happy camper today. Yesterday he was finally able to delete the program he didn’t want on his computer and replace it with a version (after trying 3 different softwares) that does exactly what he wanted it to do. We are both relieved.

I’m starting to think about plans for the square foot garden in the spring. I’ll get out my diagrams of where things were planted last time and start figuring out what I would like to plant, how many plants, and where to put them. A gardener is always plotting the next planting.

We’re due to meet our friends for Lunch Bunch today. Last week my husband and I were stood up. No one came or called to tell us they weren’t coming. It turned out that all were sick. I’m hoping that everyone is feeling good now and that we’ll see them at lunch today. I’ve tried to call both of them, but neither of them is good about checking their phones…

I hope today is a good one for you.
