“Washout of a Day?”

Quora

Today is supposed to be a “washout of a day. Heavy rain and lightning will be the main concerns today. Some small hail and gusty winds will be possible in the stronger storms but the threat is low overall.” It’s cool and gray and rainy right now – a great day to take a nap under my throw in my recliner. My husband is sleeping in this morning, and the morning chores are done. Nice and quiet.

I’m hoping to have a burst of energy so I can get the paperwork that is piled up finished, plus get a good start on adding some of my craft products to my page on Amazon Handmade. Adding things is to the page is kind of laborious – hence my needing a burst of energy to get started. :0)

So far I’m very encouraged about my spring garden. I’m glad we drilled lots of drain holes in our 4’x4′ wooden raised bed planters. All is designed to drain well and not get waterlogged. Needless to say, with all the rain we have been getting, delivery of the new sprinklers will just be NICE, rather than NECESSARY. I’ll get some pics to share with you when the rain stops.

I hope that you have a really nice day today.

Learning

Amazon Handmade

I am learning a LOT trying to list my stuff on Amazon Handmade. I am finally able to jump through most of the hoops.

I have finally learned that when a picture doesn’t show up with my product, I check to make sure it meets their parameters, and then let it go. That drives me absolutely nuts, but I’ve learned that is the best thing to do. It happened again yesterday, when I was adding some painted journals. I listed 5. 4 of them went well. The 5th picture didn’t show up for some reason. I checked it, and it should have gone like the others. It didn’t, so the product was listed on the site, but the picture area was blank. That’s embarrassing and I hate it, but – again – I left it. It still wasn’t up when I went to bed, but I checked again this morning and it was showing. Go figure.

I am not a patient person. I HATE errors or omissions to be ‘public,’ but there is no control over this one.

So, I will try to get the rest of the things I want to list online and hope for the best.

Today, some tote bags and painted canvas mini ‘essential’ purses.

Fingers crossed, teeth gritted, and determination strong.

Thankful Thirteen via lovethispic.com

I am having a wonderful Thursday, and I hope that you are, too.

My day started off with a wonderful massage from Lynn Moody.  If you are in the Greenwood area, give her a call at 479-629-7601 and see if you can book one. You’ll be SO glad you did! Besides my NORMAL miracle massage, I mentioned that my neck was stiff and sore. She did some magic with a towel and expert lifting and twisting and made it stop hurting!  :0)

Yesterday our new food group, REAL FOOD – also in Greenwood – (479) 414-6337 – posted the choices for the week coming up. My husband and I ordered with enthusiasm, and will pick up our goodies next Monday.  Since we don’t have any nutrition information, my husband and I are watching the scales and building our eating day around the Real Food meal as our main meal, with a snacky-type lunch. We are fasting from dinner until lunch the following day, except for drinking water and coffee the next morning, with very careful – if any – snacking. Fingers are crossed that things works well for us. Their food is delicious!

Amazon Handmade

I have added some hand-painted totes to Amazon Handmade today.  For some unknown reason, one of the images is not showing. I’m still fighting with that, but hopefully will solve the problem soon. It’s SO exciting to be adding my stuff to their website!

Rags n’ Roses Collective

I am going to go up and play in my art room some this afternoon. I’m still working on the bunch of bookmarks I started about a week ago. I’m adding some ribbons, strings, and/or doo-dads to each of them. I will post some pics when I have several finished, but I’m having a lot of fun. I am planning to take them to the booth I share with my friend, Carla, at Rags & Roses Collective479-597-3107 – in Greenwood.

I worked all afternoon to try to get 5 pairs of earrings listed. (They weren’t happy with my images.)  I finally called it a night and decided I would start again this morning. When I checked, the images were showing! HOORAAAAAY!

I will try to get some of my other stuff up there today.

I found the hurdles really difficult. It’s almost impossible to get to an actual person for help. I finally had to figure things out mostly by myself, but I have new confidence today because I was persistent (my husband calls it stubbornness) and I prevailed. :0)

Hopefully, someone will see my stuff and BUY it! It’s wonderful to have the chance.

I’m Making Progress – I THINK

You are looking at a brand new member of the Amazon Handmade community!

I have uploaded ONE pair of hand-painted wooden earrings so far. I won’t do more until I see for sure what happened. (Oh, wait! The listing just appeared!)

I have a URL (yes, my very own URL!). Linda Lewis Artworks

I am learning a TON as I do this. (We have sold used books on Amazon for years. Even though I have a handmade account now, too, the listings and sales will show up for ME on both accounts on the same page.)

I was beginning to decide I wasn’t smart enough to jump through all the hoops (and difficulties) of listing my stuff on Amazon, so I’m encouraged that I now have one product listed. I have no idea how long it will take to show up on the actual site where it is listed for sale.

Onward and upward!

Isn’t this a sweet face with which to start a day?

I’ve been ill for the past two days and am very happy to tell you that I’m feeling sassy again.

Yesterday we went to have our semi-annual teeth cleaning. I didn’t go for years, having my husband take our son for checkups, etc., and going himself. I was really afraid to go. The only thing I had had done to my teeth, other than cleaning, was to get braces. I wore them for two years, then the retainers, all to end up with crooked teeth again. My husband got angry with my attitude. We finally agreed that “I” would start going to the dentist regularly if my “husband” would wear a helmet while he rode the motorcycle. I have never had a cavity.

Yusuf Belek

This all stopped yesterday. I have a small cavity – the first in 73 years – in a wisdom tooth. I will have it filled October 2nd. I will probably have nightmares the night before. I’m like a little kid about things like this. It’s a gut reaction, though, so I’ll just try to be a big girl when the time comes. Also, adding frustration to the mix – I had ordered three tubes of a tartar control toothpaste, since I seem to manufacture the problem. The hygienist has asked me to go back to whatever I was doing before I changed, since I had more than I had the last time! :0(

“Caught Red-Pawed” – Audrius P. – Bored Panda

The good part of yesterday was that we picked up our first order of frozen meals from Real Food in Greenwood on the way home. We tried the BBQ meatballs with sweet potato and green beans. We also bought half a loaf of olive bread. After we ate, we looked at each other and said in one voice, “YUMMY!!!!!!”  I wrote to the lady, telling her how pleased we were. I also requested two things: 1) she consider providing at least approximate nutrition information for each choice, and 2) give recommendations on how long to heat or microwave the options. (I put the bread in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes, and I simply hit ‘reheat’ on the entrees, and it worked out fine, but I would like a bit more direction, if possible, just in case.

Our weather is glorious. We have doors open and are really enjoying the breezes coming through the house. ( I DID have to vacuum the first floor tiles this morning first thing because tufts of Amber’s hair were wafting around in the breezes. :0)

Amazon Handmade

Today I THINK I registered for an account on Amazon Handmade. They finally gave me a url I could copy, instead of click on, so I could put it in my FireFox browser, instead of the Google Chrome they don’t seem to like, and I was able to fill out some information. I have to wait 24 hours, and then I’m supposed to be able to start listing products for sale. Now I will see what information I can find about how to list things, parameters, etc.  One step at a time…

I am planning to play in my art room a bit today, working on the bookmarks I started. Since I’ve been sick, I am definitely taking things easy today, trying to get my energy back. I’m looking forward to trying some yoga stretching this afternoon.

I hope you have a very pleasant day.

The sun is shining! We have had so much rain, so many storms, flash flooding, etc., here lately that I had almost forgotten what it was like to enjoy happy sunshine!  A welcome sight, indeed.

We will join our friends for Lunch Bunch in half an hour. One of my friends has been in the process of moving, so I’m eager to hear how it went and what she thinks of her new place. Our other friends are usually into an interesting project. It is always a great time for us to catch up with what has been going on, future plans, etc. We are lucky to have been doing this for over 17 years now, through years and years of things to celebrate and things to help each other through. Friendship is priceless.

I am filling up my leaf bags quickly now – one for donations and the other for trash. I’m hoping to fill at least two extra leaf bags of trash each week, and I will systematically go through, room by room, trying to gather things I am no longer using or can do without that someone else might need or enjoy.

We are supposed to get our first week’s delivery of BistroMD today. I’m looking forward to eating our first dinner tonight.

I am finding it difficult to get my work on Amazon Handmade so far. I have been accepted, but when I click on the ‘register’ button in the email they sent, they send me to a screen that says they don’t like the version of Chrome I’m using as a browser. They don’t provide a URL – just a clickable square – so I can’t use another browser. I will try to upgrade my Chrome again after lunch and keep my fingers crossed.

This will be a hopefully quiet day for us. We only have a couple of errands to run, and so will be home to receive our deliveries and try to get organized for the new eating plan.

I hope that this is a good day for you, too.

Bored Panda

Good Morning!

We MAY finally be getting a reprieve from the rain and some cooler temperatures soon! I couldn’t be more ready. The humidity is 98% right now, according to the local weather website. It’s like pea soup outside. We still have the doors open, getting what breezes we can. I’m ready for fall.

First thing this morning I cleaned out the aquarium. These two goldfish have the award for messing up their water faster than any other fish on the planet, I think. Even with the new, fancy, three-part filter, the water was terrible this morning. Thankfully, I can change things out in about half an hour now.

The water is now clean enough that when I take a picture of the aquarium, you can also see parts of the kitchen behind it, PLUS the reflection of the dining area window on the other side of the room. :0)  I’m trying to teach them to say, “Thank You,” when they get into the sparkling clean tank, but no luck so far. I would even be happy if they did a cartwheel or something, or blew some bubbles at me. They only do THAT when I feed them. The thing I DON’T want them to do is roll over and play dead…

Today I will try to register for my Amazon Handmade account and see what happens. I am hopeful I can get lots of questions answered so I feel I know what I’m doing.

Amazon Handmade

I have started two leaf bags:

Leaf Bag # 1 is for things to donate to the Disabled Vets Thrift Store in Fort Smith.

Leaf Bag # 2 is for trash.

I received an email that we are supposed to receive our first week’s delivery of BistroMD meals tomorrow! We have both chosen the diabetic plan. My husband denies he has Type II diabetes (he says he has a sugar problem). He thinks only people who have to give themselves injections are ‘diabetics.’ Since we are both trying to stay away from any added sugar, we feel this is a good choice for us.  I will let you know how it goes.

My ant stings/bites/welts are almost gone now. I have a couple of spots I still need to put anti-itch ointment on, but I’m back to normal, otherwise. If things dry out a bit, the revenge murdering of ants commences tomorrow…

Have a happy Thursday!

Accepted!

Amazon Handmade

I received an email yesterday that I was accepted to list my stuff on Amazon Handmade!

I don’t have the first clue on what I am supposed to do to actually DO that, but I’m excited. I’ll read everything I can find and then try to get my work listed.

If I were a gazillionaire, I would hire someone to research possible places to list my stuff, help me find the right prices to each different type of thing I make, and handle all the business/taxes/paperwork involved.

Since I’m a one-person-band, things move a lot more slowly as I swim through the peanut butter of figuring things out, experimenting, and adjusting, over and over.

I truly love to create things that others will hopefully like. The highest compliment is when you find repeat customers who also tell others about what you do.

My research into Amazon Handmade starts today. I will let you know when I figure things out and can show you.
