Beautiful Sight

Balloon Adventures Thailand

Brian texted me yesterday, saying, “There are hot air balloons out there.” They were pretty far away, but sure enough, they were there!

Balloon Adventures Thailand

I researched and found a place called, “Balloon Adventures Thailand” that sells rides of various lengths on hot air balloons. You can arrange for a 45 minute trip, for example, to get a bird’s eye view of Chiang Mai!

Balloon Adventures Thailand

I have put this in my “Wish List” of things I would love to do, see, experience, buy, etc. that I’m keeping for when things tame down, when we have the time, when it’s appropriate, when we win the lottery – depending on the size and cost of the wish. 😃

Balloon Adventures Thailand

Since we are now starting “The Cool Season” (the major time tourists come to Thailand) I’m hoping to see more hot air balloons as I look out my window.

Balloon Adventures Thailand

I will work on my ability to walk longer distances, climb up onto something, and stand for longer and longer while I wish to be able to do this in the future.

Balloon Adventures Thailand

These make me happy just looking at them!

Fantasy

As we age, we find that it’s more difficult to do things we used to do without even having to think about it. Some things we have had to hire out, and other things we’re still struggling with, since our funds are limited.

My fantasy is that

  • We win the lottery, so that money is not an issue anymore
  • I can help my friends and relatives who need a boost, too
  • I can donate to all the causes I care about
  • We can hire people to do ALL the things we would like, not having to plan it out, budget for it, sacrifice other things for it, etc.
  • And – as long as this is MY fantasy – I can wish for hunky guys to do all the work needed. :0)

SO – all I need to do is wait for my fantasy to be fulfilled…

Bummed

Trusted House Sitters

I’m feeling “bummed”, plus “stupid”, this morning.

“Bummed” because one of my favorites on American Idol was eliminated last night. “Stupid” because I shouldn’t allow myself to get so ‘invested’ in a TV program that I know can only have one winner.

I don’t usually watch things like this. Lately it has been an escape for ‘the world being too much with us,’ and I fell hard for two contestants: Iam Tongi and Oliver Steele.

Iam Tongi is 18, from Hawaii. He lost his dad very recently. They bonded by singing together with Iam playing the guitar his dad bought for him with his holiday paycheck. His dad got sick and didn’t have long to live. They recorded several songs and posted them online. Iam’s dad died and Iam tried out for American Idol to honor his dad’s memory. He has captured the hearts of many during the competiton and he made it to the Top 5 last night.

Oliver Steele also entered the competition because of his dad. His dad is alive, a former singer, songwriter and musician. He had a massive stroke and lost the use of the left side of his body. He was there for his son’s audition. He was hospitalized soon after Oliver entered and has since started dialysis, but was able to attend his son’s performances last night.

Oliver is not only talented, his heart is huge. When Iam’s guitar broke, Oliver was really supportive. He got them both through the duet they shared and they have become friends for life. When the announcements were being made last night, Iam was named to the Top 5 and took the lei from around his neck and put it around Oliver’s neck as he left the stage. Oliver was eliminated from the competition a few minutes later.

SO. I’m happy Iam made it to the Top 5. In my mind, Oliver is also a winner – in life. I hope that he has garnered the attention of people who can help him achieve his dreams. I wish him all the best. He really got my heart.

Now I’ll continue cheering for Iam.

Letter to Santa 2022

Lewis Mailbox

____________________

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a reasonably ‘good girl’ this year – well, mostly. Sometimes.

I know your priority is to try to fill the requests in the letters of all the good little girls and boys who are anxiously waiting for your visit Christmas Eve, and that’s as it should be.

If you find you have a bit of time and energy left, though, I would very much appreciate your consideration in fulfilling these requests –

  • Please help those I love to be healthy in the coming year. As you know, things have been stressful for them and they need a bit of extra help to be able to do all the things they would like to do.
  • Please do what you can to help those who are suffering. Maybe just seeing you fly over an extra time or two would give them hope and strength.
  • Please encourage us to tone down the rhetoric and remember that we are all in this world together. We need to listen more and talk less.

I really don’t need presents. I have everything I need, except maybe an extra hug or two. I realize I’m asking a lot, but we need help, especially now.

Thank you.

In Times Like This…

Slice of Life

I guess this is technically meant to be a wish for the new year. I think it’s appropriate that we wish each other these things NOW – during this pandemic, for what is to come, and for what will be the “new normal.”

3 Wishes for You in 2019

WISH 1 –

“My Wish for you in 2019:

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts.

May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills.

May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!

May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires.

May happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy.

May the problems you had forget your home address! In simple words …….

May 2019 be the best year of your life!!!”  ~ Unknown

WISH 2

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.” ~ Neil Gaiman, British author
