Diet-Exercise Report for the Week

suzyswede.com

Today is DAY 9 of my yoga-water-raw veggies snack regimen.

This week was a wash-out on losing the lard, though. We splurged one meal, trying out the new Waffle House in Greenwood. I gained 1.5 lbs. I spent the rest of the week losing that. So I’m back to where I was at the begging of the week. UGH.

Tomorrow I will add some exercises with 5 lb dumbbells to my regimen – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I will ease into this slowly and carefully because I haven’t done work with weights for a LONG time.

I’m hoping that at the end of NEXT week, I’ll be able to tell you I’m making progress in losing the lard.

At least I will ‘keep on keepin’ on.’

Lard Accountability

Pin auf Watch-GIFs

I gained 1.5 lbs after eating the delicious Hashbrown Bowl with Sausage, Egg, and Cheese at the new Waffle House in Greenwood. Lesson: NEXT time order ONE bowl and TWO plates, and give most of the hashbrowns to my husband.

That said, it’s the first of July (basically) so I decided to measure and see where I am on my efforts to lose the lard.

From my heaviest, I am down a bit over 27 pounds and 26.2 inches. I am on DAY 7 of my new regimen of doing a session of yoga daily, drinking a bottle of water, and eating a snack (if I need one) of raw veggies and a bit of dip.

PLANS-

  • Keep on keepin’ on
  • Add some work with weights starting next week, MW&F
  • NOT beat myself up for having one splurge meal, even though it will take time to get that added weight off.
  • Try to fine tune my eating so I’m not unconsciously adding calories I don’t need.
  • Measure again August 2nd and record
  • Take one day at a time, making goals for the week to give myself direction

I had a Waffle House Hashbrown Bowl with Sausage, Egg, and Cheese for lunch today. My husband also had one.

Waffle House Sausage, Egg & Cheese Hashbrown Bowl Nutrition Facts

Can we all say, “oh, that was delicious, but, UGH!” together?

If we go to the Waffle House again, I will find something without the hashbrowns, or we’ll order ONE bowl and then two plates. Or, better yet, “I” can have a grilled chicken salad. You can ask for the salad dressing on the side and no croutons for a lower fat and carb salad.

Needless to say, I had a nap this afternoon and still feel really sluggish.

Back on the horse tomorrow….

Striving

The Little Engine That Could

This was a classic book when I was a child. It’s all about striving – trying to reach a goal. The little engine kept striving, all the while saying, “I THINK I can, I THINK I can…” finally reaching the top of the hill due to never giving up and his fierce determination.

I’m ‘thinking I can’ now, on DAY 5 of my new regimen of eating right, raw veggies and a bit of dip for an afternoon snack, a bottle of water, and yoga each afternoon in an effort to lose my lard. I lost a bit yesterday, so that’s encouraging.

I also FEEL a bit better due to the yoga. Some of the positions are getting a bit easier. I’m able to slowly stretch a bit more. Some things will take some time. WHEN I make it to Monday of next week – with my daily yoga practice – I’m planning to add some work with dumbbells to my yoga practice Mon, Wed, and Fri.

LoseWeightFast-blogger

Today is DAY 4 of my new motivation to lose my lard and increase my flexibility and stamina.

I’m feeling good about things, even though I didn’t shed any weight yesterday. I will ‘keep on keepin’ on,’ one day at a time, looking at each one as a day to maybe lose a bit and work on getting stronger.

Tenor.gif

I’m doing my yoga-snack-water thing each afternoon. I have some sore stomach muscles in particular, a sign that my body recognizes a change. That’s GOOD. I’m finding it easier to get out of my chair, get my yoga mat and get started. Once I finish, I get my husband his bagel with cream cheese, chives, and onion, and I get MY snack of some raw veggies and a bit of dip, plus a bottle of water.

My husband, of course, isn’t even trying to lose weight at this point, or exercise, but is ahead of me on weight loss. I’m trying to be adult enough to realize that each person is different, that men seem to lose weight more easily than woman, and hitting him in the mouth won’t solve my problems. :0)

I have my desk calendar set up to get my stars for doing what I should today, and it makes me smile when I earn them.

I am feeling more in control of my habits and I’m pleased I’m doing some good things for my health.

Baby Steps – In the Right Direction

MakeAGif.com

I accomplished my goal of losing 2 lbs. last week. I am almost to my goal of reaching the 30-pounds-off-from-my-heaviest weight landmark. I am happy that I’m making some progress toward my goal of losing my lard and getting as strong and flexible as I can.

I did my second yoga practice yesterday. My husband was encouraging, though he has no appreciation for how stiff, sore, and inflexible this old lady can get. He asked me if I were having an easier time of it. I had to tell him that SOME of the positions were a bit better, but some were more difficult, because I hadn’t been practicing as I should – that it would probably be at least Sunday of THIS week before I felt much difference. He is encouraging me – as HE stretches out for a nap in his chair – :0) – and that is good motivation, too.

I feel calm, happy that I am now on the way to being healthier, am practicing good eating habits and exercising. One day at a time. Baby steps – in the right direction.

Good Advice

Giphy

Thanks to a post by Maria of FlowingWatersArtBlog I’m feeling some new motivation on my weight loss goal. (Her good advice applies to any difficult goal, but I took it to heart since I’ve been having such mixed results.

I’ve set a goal for myself as to how much I would like to lose. I have an appointment with our primary doctor for a checkup in November, and I would like to be seeing some significant results by then. I have broken the goal up now into weeks, and it looks doable, even if I run into a plateau or two. I have used my desk calendar to remind myself what I’m trying to do and to hold myself accountable.

In the past, I had the amount of lard I wanted to shed, but no specific time frame, and no real plan for accountability. It was too easy to slide – one of my greatest skills. Breaking the goal up, I can SEE my plan is actually DOABLE, so I’ve planned things out on a weekly basis.

To this end, I made some changes that I initiated yesterday –

  1. I’m drinking a bottle of water every afternoon to make sure I’m staying hydrated.
  2. I’ve changed my afternoon snack to some raw veggies with a bit of dip. (If I start curling my lip at that, I’m not ‘hungry’, just looking for trouble)
  3. I did a session of yoga yesterday afternoon. I was stiff, but I went though my routine slowly, doing the best I could. This will improve as I practice, and then I have some other poses I would like to add.
  4. After doing yoga each day for the next week, I will add some other exercises, such as ones with some weights, aiming for twice a week to start.
  5. Since I have never grown up, I’m still motivated by gold stars. Each day I will record my weight on my desk calendar, then give myself a star for a) doing my yoga, b) drinking my bottle of water, and c) eating my healthy snack.

Now that I’ve started and have a doable plan with guideposts and a deadline, I’m newly motivated. Thanks, Maria.

Maria wrote me recently to encourage me about my efforts to lose my lard, suggesting that I read her blog post the next day.

When I read it, I was re-motivated to follow her suggestions of handling goals, making the goals reality. You might find it interesting and motivational, too. FlowingWatersArtBlog

Maybe we can get there!

Thanks, Maria. :0)

Thoughts on a Tuesday 6-22-2021

zetapositivo.com.ar

Even though I look a bit ragged, I’m doing well this morning.

  1. I sold a mini-purse from my Etsy shop
  2. I’m going to finish refurbishing our Farmer Robot today. (Pics tomorrow)
  3. I lost 1-1/2 lbs.
  4. The sun is shining, but we had a cold front move through, so the temperature will only get to the mid 80s today with low humidity. BEAUTIFUL!
  5. My new elephant ear plants (all three of them) have come up now and are looking healthy.
  6. I finally programmed the irrigation system so that we don’t have to check it nightly.
  7. Knock on wood – nothing has fallen apart lately.

With all this good, it’s hard to be down. My spirits are still high from the nice lady who stopped in her truck to tell us how much she enjoyed our mailbox decorations. I felt bad that we had gotten really lax about changing them, so I told her we would do better. We changed from our Calvin & Hobbes decoration to our Pepe LePew & Penelope decoration. I hope she has driven by and likes it. :0)

I hope that your Tuesday is a bright and happy one.

A Bit of Success

WiffleGif

I finally had a bit of success on losing the lard. I’m almost back to 30 pounds down since my heaviest now – hoping to hit that officially in the next day or so. I’m learning once again how much easier it is to put it ON, rather than taking it OFF.

Yesterday I was moving most of the day. I was in the shop working on the refurb of our Box Turtle Yard art piece. It was hot in there, but I had a fan. I was up and down, pulling and hauling. After resting a bit, I weed whacked, doing two sessions that I had to stop when the weed eater started to smoke! My husband will look at that today to see if it is salvageable. Anyhow, it was a lot of work out in the hot, so I guess that helped finally shed a bit more of the lard.

Today I’m going to put the refurbed box turtle back where he lives in the yard, take pics to show you, start work on another piece, use the leaf blower to clean up the two sidewalks and garage pad, and then cut up lots of veggies for the “kielbasa and veggies” cookout for tonight.

I hope you have a happy Sunday, too.

My trying to lose the lard is sometimes like trying to swim though peanut butter – excruciatingly slow and a LOT of work.

I was really good yesterday, eating only HALF of the chicken ‘thingers’ is ordered at Lunch Bunch. I brought the other half home for another meal. I drank lots of water, kept moving a lot of the day, ate some raw veggies with a small amount of dip as a snack to tide me over until dinner.

The end result is .2 lb down. hooray. It’s definitely better than when the scale shows I’m hanging onto weight or even gaining, but no confetti is being tossed.

I’m going to just keep on keepin’ on, keeping all appendages crossed.

We stopped the orgy of strawberries and ice cream, but wanted to celebrate our 52nd anniversary by sharing a seafood platter at one of our favorite local restaurants, The Dari, last night. Today I’m up a pound. UGH.

I can TELL myself that I’ll only celebrate a 52nd wedding anniversary once, but THEN I find myself celebrating the end of Daylight Savings Time, and Belly Laugh Day and, and……

Weight loss comes from your mind. Your conscious decision to control what goes into your mouth EACH time, EVERY time. That doesn’t mean I’ve decided not to celebrate important milestones anymore, but it DOES mean I’m going to TRY not to use holidays and special occasions as an excuse to start another binge.

Stuffing My Face

I THOUGHT I had done pretty well on eating yesterday, but I GAINED half a pound. UGH.

We’ll leave in about an hour to meet our friends for Friday Lunch Bunch. I will eat HALF the chicken finger thingies, bringing the rest home to cut up for a main meal salad.

My biggest problem right now is that my husband and I aren’t in sync about what we’re eating and how much right now. Yeah. Yeah. I KNOW that I don’t have to eat just because my husband is eating. But I don’t seem to be strong enough to have him buy no sugar added ice cream and strawberries (plus strawberry cakes for himself), cut up the strawberries, and then NOT eat any. I AM leaving the cakes to him. We HAVE agreed that when we’re out of ice cream and strawberries (we have enough for tonight) we won’t buy more for awhile….

In my next life, I want to come back as someone who only eats for the nutrition, as fuel for my body, rather than having an appetite that would kill a horse.

Interesting Thought

Signs of Wisdom

I am practicing a number of things, trying to get the lard off.

For several years now I have tried to get taller. I figure that if I grew several inches, I wouldn’t have to be so concerned about my weight. As it is, even though my wonderful massage therapist has TRIED to help once a month by pulling on my appendages and head, it isn’t working. So the concern remains.

  1. I fast between dinner the night before and lunch the next day
  2. I eat very careful lunches and dinners. My husband and I fix the meals together so we can ‘watch’ each other and encourage each other. We eat a lot of healthy individual frozen food dinners from Real Food and Stu’s Clean Cookin’ in Greenwood.
  3. I’m trying to move more and – if I eat between meals at all – I try to snack carefully.

My biggest problem times are about 4 in the afternoon and in the middle of the night if I’m having trouble sleeping.

We eat lunch at noon. We eat dinner around 7pm. Around 4 I am hungry. I’m really trying to have healthy snacks on hand and eat one of them carefully. In the middle of the night, all bets are off.

So, overall I’m losing some of the lard, albeit V-E-R-Y slowly. I yoyo a bit because of any extra eating I do. As long as the general trend is downward, I’m trying not to beat myself up too much about lapses.

Each day is a new day.

Side Effects

thefunnybeaver.com

Actually, I am feeling pretty good today. I’m teed off, though because my husband was nice enough to suggest that we have lunch out before we came home from our errands yesterday. We had a nice lunch with fun conversation and great food – and the result was I GAINED ALMOST A FULL POUND. :0(

Ever since I have gained “full maturity” (read I’m older than dirt) I not only have to WATCH everything I eat, it’s like I’m throwing LEAD into my body. I wish I had inherited my dad’s metabolism. He was 6’2″ tall and ate everything in sight. He would eat a huge mound of spaghetti with garlic toast on the side, for example, and still lose weight. The most he ever weighed was 165.

I’m really trying to eat less and move more. With a sloth’s metabolism, however, it’s more and more of a challenge.

Dieting Through The Holiday Weekend

Gfycat

I made it through the weekend of cooking out and countless chances to indulge. I didn’t LOSE any weight the past four days, but I didn’t GAIN any, either. I will chalk it up to the PLUS column and just consider it a DELAY in my progress.

Today we are having pretty much non-stop rain, so my outside exercise of weeding the garden and finishing dismantling the greenhouse will have to wait. I’ll substitute my yoga stretches this afternoon.

I’m hoping that in another week or so, I will have a firm grasp on watching my portions in order to lose the lard.

Holiday Eating

Giphy

My husband said he was really hungry for food from the grill and wanted to cook steak, hamburger, and kielbasa dinners. Friday night we grilled 3 steaks.

Since I’m really trying hard to lose some of my lard, we agreed to cut one of the steaks in half for our meal Friday. I also ate half a baked potato. Last night after working in the yard most of the day, we simply heated up one of the steaks and the remaining baked potato. We cut each in half. I’m cutting the third in half and freezing it for another dinner later.

Tonight we’re grilling hamburgers. I’ll eat a hamburger with a bun. I know I shouldn’t eat the bread, but I’m really looking forward to biting into a real burger, and will enjoy every bite. I will eat lighter for lunch and won’t have any snacks in-between.

I was a bit worried about a long weekend holiday killing my diet progress, but so far, halfway into the holiday, I’m still doing okay. Since Monday, May 17th I have lost 5-1/2 pounds. I’m still re-losing weight, but I’m down 28 lbs since my heaviest at this point. No pats on the head yet, but I’m going in the right direction.

Omaha Steaks

These aren’t the steaks we grilled, but we had a GREAT time grilling steaks last night. It was too light, still, to enjoy the colorful rope LED lights we have going around the roof on the deck, but the weather was perfect. Our dog, Amber, and our cat, Abby, were on the deck with us and we truly relaxed while the steaks smelled better and better.

It’s been a long time since we had a cookout. Our weather has been super rainy, and will be again next week, but yesterday was as pretty as it gets. We’re supposed to have a possible two more days of really nice weather before a really rainy week starting Monday. I’m going to spend as much time as possible outside, trying to catch up on yard work. My husband is planning to mow the lawn while it’s possible, as well, so it will look like someone actually lives here. :0)

I was good, trying to keep my diet alive last night. We cut one of the three steaks we cooked in half to share. I had half a baked potato. I’m hoping to continue really watching my portions this weekend to hopefully get through the wonderful holiday weekend at least at the same place I was in my losing the lard efforts. Fingers crossed.

I hope that you are spending the weekend with people you care about, having a relaxing and fun time.

Eating on Memorial Day Weekend

pinterest

We have just returned from Lunch Bunch and a trip to the grocery store for Memorial Day weekend goodies.

It will be interesting to see how I come through this. Since last Monday, May 17th, I’ve lost 5.4 lbs. I would like to continue that trend, NOT gain it all back this weekend!

At Lunch Bunch today, I ate HALF of my lunch, bringing the other half home. I can cut up the remaining chicken fingers for a meal-sized chef salad in the coming days.

My husband talked with GREAT enthusiasm about cooking out a LOT this weekend, starting tonight, where he said he really wanted a steak and baked potato. We have agreed that we should be able to enjoy TWO steak and baked potato meals from what we have previously eaten in ONE sitting.

He also really was hungry for kielbasa on the grill. (We grill this along with a lot of veggies.) We will be able to get TWO meals from that, as well.

Finally, he really wanted grilled hamburgers. (Are you getting the impression that I’ve been mistreating my husband?)

We will cook a full platter of these, and they should serve us for THREE meals.

If our weather is cooperative, we should be able to cook three nights, garnering delicious food for 7 dinners. We’ll also have a chef salad dinner from the chicken fingers I brought home today. I’m HOPING that being really careful with our portions, plus eating a bit lighter at lunch, will get us through this holiday weekend at least at the same place we are now, weight-wise (if not a bit less) with big smiles on our faces.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Thoughts on a Tuesday 5-25-2021

WEATHER – It’s a good thing I’m not water-soluble, or I would have sogged down into a puddle by now with all the rain we have had. We just returned from putting our trash out for pickup and running errands. I wore a hoodie, since my husband has no patience for me trying to use an umbrella. I just throw my hood up to stay as dry as possible.

YARD WORK – I pruned our rose bushes and weeded a bit yesterday. Some unfriendly bug bit me on the back of my hand. It swelled up and itched like crazy. I finally got the itching to stop and the swelling should be down by tomorrow.

I was watching for ants, since I react badly to their stings/bites, but whatever bit me snuck up and did it before I was aware. I am going to try to harvest more lettuce, since my plants are starting to bolt, but it will have to wait until the rain stops.

EMAIL HACK – I seem to be over the worst of the repercussions from my email being hacked. I spent the entire day yesterday, except for the time pruning the roses, contacting as many friends and family as possible, giving them my new address, plus getting on our important websites and changing email, user name and password. What a hassle! I did get to talk to people I would LIKE to talk to more often, so that was a really good thing. If I finally reach a real person at Google, I will try to enlist their help in finding out who is responsible for the hack.

GENERATOR – Just as your car will never act up or make the noise you’ve been hearing when you take it to the shop, our generator came on just fine when the tech came out to help us figure out why it didn’t do its weekly test and or continue to run when we started it manually. He looked it over carefully. It started right up and continued until he turned it off. We told him the ‘overcrank’ light was on when we went out to look. My husband suspected the carburetor, but the tech was looking more at the fuel regulator, whatever that is. He said he would check his manual for ‘old’ generators to see if he could be of more help if we need to call him again. Meanwhile, $131.50 later, the generator IS working…

WEIGHT LOSS – My newest motivation to lose the lard seems to be working – at least, so far. Last Monday we had our routine doctor appointment with blood tests. We were doing fine (for old people) and the doc said we didn’t have to come back for 6 months, rather than the 3 months we have been doing. I decided that I wanted to try to finally lose a significant amount of my poundage by the time we go back in November. Since Monday I have lost 4.6 pounds. I’m trying to keep my focus on trying to really watch my portions, try not to eat in-between meals, or if I do, eat a really careful snack. I’m trying to move more, and pick up my afternoon yoga stretches again.

So far, my yoga efforts have been a dismal failure. Usually, I’m out in the yard when I WAS doing yoga. I’m telling myself that if I’m up and moving, that’s good, but I know it’s not a substitute for the good stretching I do with my practice. I’m going to rethink WHEN I’m trying to do my practice so that I can work in the yard AND do my yoga stretches on a daily basis.

ART ROOM – I’m still trying to overcome my stupid fear of failure regarding trying a new art technique. I’m really fascinated watching people demonstrate ‘acrylic pours’ and then ‘pours with crackle gel.’ They are getting wonderful abstract colorful work with gorgeous texture and cracks highlighted with gold. I’m going to keep making careful notes as I watch (and drool) and see if I can get started on it in my art room this week.

I hope that you are having a fabulous day, enjoying the weather where you are, if possible, or if cooped up inside like me, changing over to something fun INSIDE.

A Week’s Progress

Spoon University

I have finished Week 1 of again trying to stay motivated and lose the lard. I concentrated on controlled portions for lunch and dinner, and very few, if any, snacks. At Lunch Bunch I asked for a to-go bag when I ordered, ate half, and brought the other half home. I cut up the leftover chicken fingers in our dinner chef salad last night, with lettuce and spinach from our garden.

I’m happy to report there are 3.8 lbs less of me than there were last Monday. My goal is to lose 2.5 lbs per week. I may not reach my goal each week, but if I’m down at ALL I’ll consider it a success.

And so starts Week 2. Concentration will be on doing my yoga stretches each day.

I am FINALLY making a bit of progress on my efforts to lose the lard. My new goal is to try to lose 2.5 lbs each week. That should be doable. I am concentrating on eating controlled portions and not snacking in-between, drinking lots of water and staying active, moving as much as possible.

I was working a lot outside, trying to get my veggie garden going, so I haven’t been ‘exercising’ as I should. I will try now to get back into my yoga practice.

I’ll plan to bring you a ‘progress’ report or two. Fingers crossed.

Diet Discovery +

This morning my husband and I ate breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants in Greenwood, The Dari. We did this (1) to celebrate a stellar report from the dental hygienist for both of us, and (2) we always have breakfast out when we have to get blood tests at the clinic for a doctor appointment.

So my diet is pretty much blown for the day. We are having a portion controlled frozen dinner of tortilla crusted fish this evening, so maybe that will make up for the truly delicious, rare breakfast with all the fixings. I have to say that my emotions are like a yo-yo lately. I go from being really serious and sticking to my diet, to thinking I’m getting older and the world seems to be going to Hell in a hand basket so I might as well enjoy one of my last meals. Until I can get my ‘yo-yo-ness’ under control, I foresee very slow, if any, weight loss for me. :0(

I’m trying to get into the mood to get and plant some flowers in our deck planters. We will probably go to the local nursery tomorrow after Lunch Bunch to see if we can find some wave petunias and periwinkles. We’ve checked a couple of other places, but can’t find them. I hope our luck is better at the nursery.

We are about to start more monsoon weather. It’s a lovely, sunny day today, and we’re supposed to have another nice day tomorrow. I couldn’t believe the weather website, though. Starting Saturday, we’re supposed to have rain EVERY day from then, through the following Saturday, AND through the following Thursday. (Saturday, the 17th through Thursday, May 27th.) REALLY. I need to get out tomorrow and harvest more veggies.

I hope that your Thursday is a nice one.

I’m finding it hard to grasp that we’re already into May, and a third of it is gone!

Arkansas is having a ‘monsoon’ season this year. I’m growing some veggies in a raised bed square foot garden and they are loving this weather. It’s been cool and wet. For example it’s overcast, looking like it could rain any second, and is only 49 degrees right now. Friday I was able to share some spinach and lettuce with good friends. I’m planning to do my third harvest of the season today, if the weather will cooperate.

Yesterday, after over a year of absence, I started accounts on Facebook and LinkedIn again. My accounts had been hacked and I couldn’t change my passwords or get any help from support at either place, so I gave up and closed my accounts. I missed some of the people I had met, so yesterday I created a new email address so I could sign up again. I have no idea of anyone remembers me anymore or will connect with me again, but I figure it’s worth a try.

My latest project – after putting the house back together after new carpet and porch flooring – is to switch my winter clothes for summer ones. Funny timing, since we may be setting a record for the coolest May we’ve had since I’ve lived here, but I’m in the middle of it now. I have the actual clothes switched. Now I’m trying to get things organized, plus I’ve promised myself I will try things on, going through for things I can donate.

We are continuing to enjoy getting healthy, individual portion meals from Real Food and from Stu’s Clean Cookin’, both of which have opened in the past year in Greenwood.

Calvin & Hobbes Mailbox Decoration

We haven’t been putting up mailbox decorations for awhile, due to the chaos in the world. We finally put up my favorite recently. I think we can all use a hug.

I hope that you are having a good start of a new week, too.

animalshelpheal.blogspot.com

It looks like today will be another perfect day. We had one yesterday, too – sunny and 80 – and I’m not taking a minute of these for granted.

We leave in a bit more than an hour for Lunch Bunch. Today I’m taking gallon bags of spinach and lettuce from our garden to my friends. I absolutely love it when we have enough to be able to share with people who mean so much to me.

I’m hoping that one of my friends will have pictures of her new kitchen floor to share. She had a pipe burst during the last winter storm and it completely ruined her floor. Apparently a LOT of people had damage because she had to wait a long time for someone to be able to build a new one for her. I talked to her on the phone, though, and she said she was THRILLED with it.

I have some pics of our new carpet and new porch floor to share with my friends. It will be a LONG time before I get up to walk anywhere on the first floor of our house and fail to smile ear to ear. It’s such a pleasure to have things looking good. We’ve been opening our front and back doors to enjoy the weather in the afternoons. I can also see our new porch floor when we do that. And the carpet FEELS so good when you walk on it. :0)

Yesterday when we were going to get our mail and make a quick run to the grocery store, we couldn’t get our garage door to stay closed. It kept going down, then ‘bouncing’ off the bottom and going up again. Apparently the last big storm we had recently blew its mind. We ended up getting out the paperwork and reprogramming the remote that lives in the truck and the manual opener that lives outside the garage. Now it seems to be working fine.

Yesterday’s project bundle was threefold: 1) three loads of laundry, 2) put new sheets on our bed and change out the electric blanket for a summer velour one, and 3) change my clothes in my closet, putting winter stuff in the guest room closet and bringing summer stuff into my bedroom closet. I got most all of this accomplished yesterday. Today I’ll finish organizing my closet today, plus I’m promising myself to actually go through my stuff carefully, looking for things to donate.

I will also check my garden to see if I need to start the automatic watering again. We’ve been getting a lot of rain, so I turned the system off. We’re supposed to get more rain tomorrow night into Sunday…

We splurged last night, eating hot dogs and chips, with ice cream and fresh cut up strawberries for dessert. It’s been about a year since we did that last, so it tasted like Heaven. :0)

I hope that your Friday is wonderful. Enjoy every minute!

My appetite won’t quit. I’m an emotional eater, and the stress level has remained pretty high around here, so I guess I can use that as an excuse.

I also have another excuse (see how creative I am?) – my husband has been working in our shop several afternoons lately, and I somehow convince myself that eating doesn’t count if he is not here to see it. Yeah. I know. Pathetic.

I have talked to myself – quite a lot during the pandemic – and I am TRYING to get back on track in my efforts to lose the lard.

One day at a time. I will eat lunch around noon and then take one green tea extract capsule. I will start drinking the bottles of water I’m supposed to be drinking – rather than coffee – and I will try to stay busy during the afternoon (when I’m most apt to indulge).
