HELP!

cooking.NYTimes.com

I told you that my HUSBAND got peanut brittle for his birthday yesterday from the NICE folks at The Pizza Barn in Greenwood.

Now “I” can’t stay AWAY from it! It is CALLING to me from the kitchen as I type. My mouth is watering. I haven’t had any in YEARS. Neither one of us should be eating it, but my husband is adamant he doesn’t want me to throw it away.

All our friends are watching what they eat, so we cannot give the delicious stuff away.

I Googled the question of whether I can FREEZE it, and found out that that is possible. It will keep for 3 months. IF I can do this without upsetting my husband, maybe we can both forget about it until the 3 months has past and THEN we can throw it away.

It has such a plaintive voice…

Day Off

Giphy

I told you yesterday that I ate my way through a session of being up in the middle of the night, not able to sleep. I looked just like this cute little guy – except I wasn’t eating carrots.

Today we’re celebrating my husband’s birthday, so all bets are off on our diet again.

TOMORROW we will be good little soldiers again – at least “I” will be. My husband will still be enjoying his pineapple upside down cake, I hope, since it has been a year since I baked one for him.

I think – at least I HOPE – that if I eat the way I’m ‘supposed’ to at least 98% of the time, I will reach my lard loss goals eventually…

Middle of the Night Munchies

“Caught Re-Pawed” – Audrius P – Bored Panda

I’m really doing pretty well on our new eating plan – EXCEPT for the times I can’t sleep. When I am up in the middle of the night I am a bottomless pit of hunger – my stomach insisting my throat has been cut and telling me I’ll die if I don’t replenish the ‘lost calories.’ Exacerbating the problem is that my husband isn’t there to look at me – making guilt curb my gluttony.

Last night was a prime example of that. I was up ‘reading’ (and stuffing my face) from 1:30 until 3:30. And the scales will attest to that this morning.

UGH.

I am telling myself that ‘today is a new day,’ and other similar ideas, but the guilt is running high today. It will take me at least a couple of days to lose what I gained last night, and THEN I can try gain new ground in my efforts to lose the lard.

Good Food

LiveAbout

Isn’t this the sweetest dog? I really like this gif!

I LOVE the fact that I am losing weight AND enjoying the food we’re eating from REAL FOOD in Greenwood, Arkansas. We will pick up our newest order today.

I’m doing a better job of staying active, too, now that the weather is more fall-like. My elliptical trainer is in the garage, and – even though I have a fan in there – I really get too hot out there. NOW it’s great. I’m trying to do 35 minutes daily. I’m doing a half hour or so of old lady yoga stretches daily that are really good for trying to building strength and flexibility, plus even some balance. It’s also good for getting rid of the sore muscles I get from doing other physical stuff. Rounding these out with the yard work I’ve been doing means that I’m getting a good workout most days.

The “Lighten Up” Diet

CoolFunnyQuotes.com

I no longer feel ‘grim and determined’ when I think of my efforts to lose the rest of my lard.

My husband and I have become totally spoiled by two new companies that have come to Greenwood AR recently: REAL FOOD and STU’S CLEAN COOKIN’.

Both offer really TASTY, healthy individual frozen meals that can be ordered online and picked up.

We eat frozen meals for dinner 5 days out of the week. I cook carefully on the weekends. We eat a light lunch, with a break on Fridays when we join our good friends.

The convenience of the already prepared, portion-controlled meals that actually taste good being the main meal of the day allow us to enjoy eating again without overdoing, concentrating on the other things we’re doing each day and not spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

We are spending less than half of what we were spending for commercial diet programs. Ordering each week, if we happen to find something that we don’t care for, we aren’t stuck with a month’s worth of meals we have to grit our teeth to eat.

I actually can joke about my efforts to lose my lard again, with the determination still there. We can ‘lighten up’ on both our meals AND our attitudes!

Good ‘Eats’ Result in Less Lardage

“Caught Red-Pawed” – Audrius P. – Bored Panda

My husband and I really tried with the prepared meals weight loss folks – Nutrisystem, South Beach, and BistroMD – and we lost some weight, but it was grim. They either discontinued the food we really liked, we weren’t happy with the meals, or the food tasted so bad we just couldn’t hack it.

My husband was almost to his goal weight, so I was trying hard to make the keto diet work for us. We really like the recipes by Suzanne Ryan in her cookbook Simply Keto. The biggest problem with that was that we tended to eat more of whatever it was than a ‘portion.’ It was totally a self-discipline problem.

We lucked out when two new companies came to Greenwood AR recently – The Real Food Company, and Stu’s Clean Cookin’ – both offering frozen meals that are individual portions, heat up in the microwave, are good for you and TASTE GOOD!

We are happy as clams now, continuing to lose weight by declaring the frozen meals, individual portions, our main meal of the day, having tuna salad or the equivalent for lunch, and no breakfast. We are trying to limit our snacks, as well, eating healthy things – though my husband uses it as an excuse to splurge. Since HE is at his goal weight and his blood sugar numbers are now better than mine, I should look to HIM for advice…

I am continuing to drink as much water as I can without my eyeballs floating too badly, and I am trying to get in both my elliptical trainer and yoga stretches daily. My weight loss is slow and steady.

We are looking forward to our meals now, instead of gritting our teeth and making do while resenting the fact the food costs so much. Tonight, for example we are looking forward to trying “Teriyaki Chicken Lo Mein” from The Real Food Company.

Bon Appetit!

Dolly Parton – MyWeightLossDream.co.uk – QuotesGram

Nutrisystem, South Beach, BistroMD – all helped, but we stopped, feeling the same as this wonderful quote by Dolly Parton above.

Now we are lucky because two new companies started businesses here in Greenwood – REAL FOOD and STU’S CLEAN COOKIN’, both offering healthy frozen individual portion meals at reasonable prices.

We plan around eating their meals 5 days a week. I then fix a keto-friendly meal that has enough for the weekend, and maybe even a lunch the following week. We eat a frozen meal at night, usually tuna fish salad for lunch, and as few careful snacks as possible the remainder of the day. It’s working for us, albeit slowly.

My husband is basically at his goal weight now. We are trying to be very careful of his sugar, since he is Type II diabetic. I still have about 30 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight. I’m losing more slowly, am the one who is actually exercising, and does all the orchestration of our eating. I would bite my husband in the leg, but basically like him too much to do that just because he seems to lose weight effortlessly. (If he gives me another reason, all bets are off.) :0)

I really like not having to figure out what to cook every day. I also like the fact that we are eating good, healthy food with portion control that actually TASTES GOOD. We can still go to Lunch Bunch to meet our friends each Friday without losing the ground we’ve gained during the week.

I am hopeful that if we ‘keep on keepin’ on,’ (‘holding our mouths right’ as we say in Oklahoma and Arkansas) maybe I will eventually meet MY lard-loss goal, too.

A Little Progress

Unsplash

I’ve told you that we have changed our eating habits, trying to make sure we control our portions while actually enjoying our food while trying to lose the lard.

I also told you that my husband has essentially reached his weight goal. We are still watching his sugar like hawks, since he is Type II diabetic and I am trying to encourage him to exercise – something for which he just gives me a long, long look.

I just weighed and measured this morning, hoping for some progress. I’m delighted to report that both the scales and the tape measure were only smirking, rather than laughing at me! :0)

I am now down 42.4 pounds from my lardiest, and there are 42.95 inches less of me. I would like to lose another 30+- pounds.

123RF.com

I haven’t just picked a number from a hat. It would be the middle of the BMI healthy range for my height. I also read an article that said, although the BMI charts may be ‘obsolete,’ your waist circumference is a good indication of your overall health. I would like to lose 3 more inches from my waist. (I’ve lost 9 so far).

My yard work, elliptical trainer, and yoga stretches are helping me get more flexible and improve my balance. I’m hoping to be able to report more progress at the end of the month.

Celebration of Friendship

Since we won’t have any Trick-or-Treaters at our house (We live up a steep driveway in a rural area outside of Greenwood, I am celebrating today with our friends at Lunch Bunch.

I’ll be wearing TWO masks today – the one above plus my Humana mask for Covid. Surely the virus wouldn’t attack someone as lovely as this.

I was very happy to learn that Zeta didn’t harm my two relatives. One lives in Louisiana and the other in North Carolina. We finally have bright sunshine this morning, too, after a full week of dreary, rainy, cold weather, so things are definitely looking up.

Another pound bit the dust this morning, so I am celebrating the loss of 42.4 pounds of lardage. More to follow, I hope. :0)

Not sure what the day holds, other than Lunch Bunch, and a stop to get hamburger meat so I can make some keto chili tomorrow.

I hope there is sunshine and fun in your day.

Happy Surprise

“Caught Red Pawed” – Audrius P. – Bored Panda

Last night we ate “Braised Beef & Mashed Potatoes” – frozen meals from REAL FOOD in Greenwood, Arkansas. We like most of the food from there, but this is our favorite thus far. We are becoming addicted to Stacy’s cooking. :0)

Today we’ll go get our mail and stop by REAL FOOD and see if there is more of this meal in the freezer… YUM!

Happy Campers

Last week we received the regular follow-up email REAL FOOD CO sends after we pick up our order, asking for feedback. This time I wrote a comment that I would really like to order the olive bread, rather than waiting for it to show up on the website as an offering for the week.

Stacy ANSWERED, asking me how many half loaves I wanted to order! I replied, and we can pick them up next Monday! HOORAY!!!!!

We went from having only restaurants – and most of them having to offer mainly take-out – to having TWO places who offer frozen meals that are good for you and taste good, too.

The other new place is STU’S CLEAN COOKIN’.

Between the two places, we are very happy campers. We have a frozen meal as our main meal of the day. The controlled portions and convenience makes it easy to stay on our new way of eating 5 days per week.

The other meal is tuna fish salad with a side of sweet pickles for my husband and green or black olives for me.

My husband has several snacks each day. I try to LIMIT mine, drinking lots of water instead, in an effort to lose my lard.

The other two days we eat something I cook. This week I’ll fix “Keto Chili” with a recipe by Suzanne Ryan of Simply Keto. That will last us all weekend.

I still have a long way to go to get to my goal weight, but my husband has pretty much reached his goal.

Not Eating

boredpanda.com

Actually, there is quite a bit of food that is ‘good to eat,’ BUT …

My husband and I loaded up the back of the truck with our trash and drove down to get our mail and leave the trash for the wonderful people who come, no matter what the weather, and whisk it away.

We came up to find that our 95 pound yellow lab, Amber, had been busy. A transparent cookie container was on the floor – open. It was the box we bought at the grocery yesterday of no sugar added oatmeal raisin cookies for my husband.

Amber has perfected a ‘I haven’t been doing anything – really’ look and was wearing it when we walked into the kitchen. She had the gall to sniff at the empty container avidly as though she were starving.

My husband was NOT amused…

It’s probably a good thing that we are eating lunch very soon.

Confession

IHasAHotdog.com

I got angry with my husband a couple of nights ago because he got grapes and two cookies to eat before bedtime. We had been in the habit of eating something before bed, but usually I brought him something or he brought me something. This time it was ‘every man for himself.’ He told me he was trying to help me with my diet.

I bit him about it, stomping into the kitchen to get myself some cashews.

Last night, he was suddenly standing beside my recliner with a small bowl of cashews in one hand and his snack in his other hand. THIS time I was frustrated because I had not had any snacks all day and now here he was, handing me one.

OKAY. You can easily see the reason for the confession. I’m a mess and should be shot.

I have been thinking about it ever since and finally have figured out what my problem is – I am childishly resenting my husband’s situation.

I’m the one who took responsibility for his Type II diabetes and figured out things he could eat and drink while cutting out as much sugar as we could. He simply griped a bit, but ate what I fixed or bought. He is now on board with avoiding sugar, though he still denies he is diabetic.

He was overweight, but not nearly as much as I. Plus he’s taller, and I resent THAT, too – weight-wise. He is almost never hungry while I go around with my stomach – which thinks my throat has been cut – growls. He is right about where he wants to be weight-wise now while I have another 30 lbs to go. He is now at the point where he can have snacks whenever the thought occurs to him while I try to satisfy myself with another bottle of water.

I’m finished ranting now – or at least I THINK I am.

It is NOT his fault that I stuffed my face for far too long. It is not his fault that he loses weight more quickly than I – even with my efforts to exercise daily – or has less to lose. It is not his fault that I’m not taller. My resentment is misplaced and unfair.

I am now picturing my ‘mental tantrum’ – and deciding that this is something I will change.

I will change the cashews to an apple tonight. I might even share it with him.

Weighty Issues

IndiaTimes.com

I guess I ate lead yesterday. The scales scoffed at me this morning, announcing loudly that I had GAINED TWO POUNDS. Ugh.

We are still doing our new eating program of using a frozen meal from Real Food or Stu’s Clean Cookin’ in Greenwood as our main meal of the day. We have tuna fish salad for lunch and maybe a snack. A careful snack.

Mostly this is resulting in some slow, steady weight loss for both my husband and myself. (He is losing faster than I am though he eats more snacks. :0( )

I am trying to be adult about this, realizing that some days my body will retain water. Sometimes the scales are in a mood to scoff at me. Sometimes I’m not holding my mouth right when I get on the scales.

Today I am fixing our regular tuna fish salad lunch, and then cooking bacon-wrapped hamburger patties for dinner. We will have spinach on the side.

I will drink water until my eyeballs float. I will work outside in the yard some this afternoon, and then will do at least half an hour of yoga stretches this afternoon.

I will try to simply ‘keep on keepin’ on,’ doing what I’m supposed to, trusting that whatever caused the scales to go in the wrong direction will correct itself tomorrow morning. I will hope that the measuring tape will show some improvement at the end of the month.

BUT I WISH THE SCALES WOULD PAT ME ON THE HEAD MORE OFTEN.

Our recently adopted eating program of eating a healthy food frozen meal from one of two new local places is working pretty well for us.

We have suffered through the prepared meal programs of Nutrisystem, South Beach, and BistroMD. We lost some weight, but they either didn’t have food we liked or discontinued the items we DID like.

We also tried straight keto, using a wonderful recipe book called Simply Keto by Suzanne Ryan. We really like the recipes, but were having trouble sticking to the suggested portions.

Now we are eating one of the frozen meals from either REAL FOOD or STU’S CLEAN COOKIN’ in Greenwood each day of the work week. That is our main meal of the day. I make a tuna fish salad for our lunch (I eat some green olives and my husband eats some sweet pickles), and that’s our eating day. I cook something from the Simply Keto cookbook for the weekend.

Today I will cook “Bacon-Wrapped Cheesy Chicken Breasts.” We will add a side veggie. Tomorrow we will have leftovers/reruns with a side salad.

I am getting a good amount of exercise with all the yard work that needs to be done this time of the year (today is lopping off hanging branches in the yard plus spraying KillzAll weed killer in various places), plus I’m trying to get a house project done inside. (Today is switching my warm weather clothes for cool weather clothes in my closet.)

We are slowly and steadily losing weight and enjoying our meals – a really nice combination.

Progress Report 9-30-2020

“Caught Red-Pawed” – Audrius P. – Bored Panda

I have been trying to get as healthy as I can so that I can continue to do what I love for as long as possible. This means losing as much of my lard as I can and trying to move more.

Since my lardiest, I have lost 40 pounds and there is 34.7 inches less of me than there was at one time. My goal is to lose another 30 lbs. and to continue exercising. As we age, we tend to move more hesitantly. That might not be the best descriptive word, but it’s the one that comes to mind. The feet start to shuffle, the movements become more tentative, as if we’re testing the waters before diving in. I am hoping that my efforts on the elliptical trainer and my yoga stretches will delay that for several more years.

My husband and I are very happy with our new eating plan.  We ate “Pork, Black Beans, Brown Rice, and BBQ Sauce” from Stu’s Clean Cookin’ last night and it was YUMMY! Otherwise, I ate tuna fish salad and  green olives for lunch and some cottage cheese as a snack.  I’m drinking enough water to float a boat. (or at least it SEEMS that much…)

This seems to be working for us. My husband looks forward to his meals again (we were cringing for awhile with the prepared plans we were on). He is basically at his goal weight and is mainly trying to hold the line on sugar and hold the new weight. I can’t get him to exercise, but I will continue to ‘try to set a good example’ and hope he’ll want to do it, too. I can’t really talk very loudly since he was never as overweight as I and can still outlast me on stamina when we’re working on a project together.

I have set my goals for the next month, hoping to be able to report more progress to you at the end of October. In the meantime, I have finished a cup of coffee, so it’s time to replace my cup with a bottle of water…

Diet Day 1:

My husband is basically at his goal weight now. He is very happy about that, and is determined to keep the weight off. We have been really trying to avoid sugar, and his blood sugar numbers are stellar.  :0)  He really likes the Real Food frozen dinners we have been getting. (We pick up our newest order this afternoon.) He has not been throwing much extra bad stuff into our grocery cart, and is encouraging about MY efforts to lose the lard. He told me this morning he was very happy with our eating plan. :0)  Our main source for food is Real Food in Greenwood. We did get some food from Stu’s Clean Cookin’ this past week and put it in the freezer. Since the weather is cooling off, we try to stock up. Living on the top of a ridge line has taught us that having extra supplies in the winter is a very good thing… We will try some of the newest offerings soon.

I have to admit that I’m a bit teed off that my husband has a so much easier time losing weight than I do. He comes in and nukes our dinner, but I’m the one who keeps up with all of the details, makes lunches and snacks, figures out and cooks a keto meal when indicated, cleans up, etc. He does not exercise and has no inclination to. He eats things he shouldn’t, and yet – he has met his goal!

“I” am eating right and exercising (in one form or another) on a daily basis and still have about 30 pounds of lard to lose. I am drinking so much water my eyeballs float. I am making progress, but V E R R R Y slowly.  Since I am definitely not getting any taller, I will just have to continue my efforts and celebrate each pound that finally leaves.

I feel very lucky that we FINALLY found food that tastes good and have figured out a way to plan our eating for the day around the frozen meal we get from the newest good places in Greenwood.

One of these days I’ll be able to tell you I have finally met my goal!

Weight Loss Tip 2

Born to Workout

I am feeling more in control of what my husband and I are eating now. We are both happy with the food we are getting from REAL FOOD in Greenwood. It’s delicious. We are basing our eating for the day around the meal we eat from there, having a really light lunch and very careful snacks, if any.

We are lucky to have ANOTHER good frozen food place that just opened recently in Greenwood.  It’s called, STU’S CLEAN COOKIN’.  We looked at their menu online yesterday morning, ordered, and were able to pick up our order after 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning! We had paid online and they had our order ready for us. You can’t ask for faster service than that!  We put that in the freezer to stock up. I like the fact that they list the nutrition of each meal on their website. I look forward to seeing if we like their “cookin.”

We get enough to eat 5 dinners per week and then I cook on the weekend, making one of the keto recipes we like. So far, we are losing weight and really enjoying LIKING our food!

My husband is only a couple of pounds away from his goal weight, but he likes the food so much, he is being VERY cooperative about doing this for the foreseeable future while I continue my efforts to get the lard off. (I have around 30 lbs to my goal, I think.)

With good food for the big meal of the day SO easy, I can concentrate on doing the other things I would like to do, rather than being tempted to feed my face in the kitchen.

Right now, the big project is trying to get my onions harvested without being stung/bitten by more fire ants who have taken up residence in my raised bed, square foot planters, and getting the planters cleaned out, things repaired, the boxes filled with Mel’s Mix, and then covered with tarps for the winter.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

More Rain!

Stephanie Stamm

It’s quite dark outside right now. Our rain is supposed to finish sometime this afternoon. All our growing things have really gotten good, thorough drinks the past few days.

Since it’s not a good day to continue work in the garden, I’m switching to INSIDE things. Since I’m such a lousy housekeeper, there is a plethora of things from which to choose on things needing to be cleaned. :0/

I am planning to try to get up to my art room today to try to finish the bookmarks I started recently. I have more ideas rattling around in my head that I would like to start when I finish the current project and get things cleared off.

source unknown

I am happy to report that I lost another couple of pounds this morning!  That gets me back to my 40 pounds off from my lardiest!

These sweet bears are from when I lost weight several years ago with Nutrisystem. As with the gold stars I put on my desk calendar for exercise, these were motivating. We stopped this program because they discontinued most of the food my husband liked.  I’m happy to have re-earned the green bear…

So far I am very happy with our new eating regimen of having our main meal of the day a frozen entrée from REAL FOOD in Greenwood. Their food is delicious, and the portion is controlled. We are skipping breakfast and eating something light, such as tuna fish salad, for lunch and then MAYBE a careful snack mid to late afternoon, if we are hungry. The careful eating plus exercise (elliptical trainer and yoga stretches) seem to have me on track again, and for that I’m truly grateful.  (We will pre-order for next week when they list the choices this afternoon. )

I hope that you are having a good day, full of love and free from stress.

Stay safe and well.

Fall is my favorite season.

I love it when I am a bit too cool and need to throw on a hoodie to be comfortable. I enjoy snuggling under my throw in my recliner and nodding off when I get sleepy. One of my favorite drinks is hot chocolate. A fire in the fireplace is a luxurious, comfort thing. The colors of the leaves lift my spirits.  I hope we get a good, long autumn this year!

Gardening Know How

I got SOME of the onions harvested yesterday before I pulled one and a gazillion ants swarmed out. Thankfully, I was armed with my new 2-gallon sprayer of Eight Bug Killer and hosed down the planter box again. It’s raining today (Tropical Storm Beta) but I’ll try it again when the weather is cooperative.

I also managed to file (or throw away) the huge pile of paper sitting on the table beside my computer yesterday. Today I will tackle August bookkeeping. Hopefully, I can get that accomplished today – since September’s stuff will be staring me in the face soon.

“Caught Red-Pawed” – Audrius P. – Bored Panda

My husband and I enjoyed Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad for our dinner last night from REAL FOOD in Greenwood. It was truly YUMMY. We are so lucky it is so good and so convenient for us. I also lost a bit more weight! I looked at my records for South Beach and BistroMD, and I’m losing at the same – if slow – rate. If I live 100 more years, I’ll eventually reach my goal! :0)

Penn Fitness Warehouse

Another thing I love about the fall – I can use my elliptical trainer in our garage in a lot more comfort. My husband mounted a wall fan on the wall in front of it for the summer, but I still end up overheated when the temperatures and heat indices go nuts in the summer. I won’t say I look forward to going out there, but putting in the time is much more palatable now.  My yoga stretching in the afternoons is rounding out my exercise nicely.

I don’t have a big project for the day. We drove the trash down to the bottom of the driveway, and I have load #2 in the clothes washer. The dishwasher is running. I’ll go do the elliptical (hopefully doing 35 minutes) and then hit the bookkeeping. I live such an exciting life! :0)

I hope that things are good for you today.

Eating vs NOT Eating

forwarded email

I have told you that my husband and I are REALLY enjoying the frozen meals from REAL FOOD in Greenwood. My experiment, since the food is SO good (but has no nutritional information provided) is to monitor the scales, take our blood pressure and blood sugar measurements twice a week (we BOTH are on meds for high blood pressure, and my husband is a Type II Diabetic – although he will deny that, saying only that he has a ‘sugar problem.’) and use these frozen meals as our main meal of the day, skip breakfast, and eat a snacky lunch (such as tuna fish salad) and a CAREFUL snack, otherwise.

We are finishing our first week and will enjoy our last REAL FOOD meal for the week this evening. I will make some keto chili (Suzanne Ryan, Simply Keto) tomorrow for the weekend.

I am continuing to drink water until my eyeballs float, and am conscientiously doing my exercises morning and afternoon (elliptical trainer in our garage in the morning and yoga stretches in the afternoon.)

I lost a pound this morning!

Life Death Prizes

Fingers crossed that when I measure at the end of the month, the measuring tape will at least smirk at me, if not smile a bit.

I am determined to get as healthy as I can – losing the lard, strengthening my core, and increasing my flexibility – so that I can enjoy life, doing what I would like to, for as long as possible.

The Verdict So Far is “Delicious!”

“Caught Red-Pawed” – Audrius P. – Bored Panda

We have now eaten two frozen meals from REAL FOOD in Greenwood. 964 East Center Street, Greenwood, AR 72936.  (479) 414-6337.

We liked last night’s meal – “Home Fries, Roasted Chicken, Bacon and Cheese” even better than the first night’s, and that’s saying a lot. :0)

I have asked the owner if she would consider posting at least ball park estimates of nutritional information on the website so that we can try to plan around the one GLORIOUS meal we’re eating each day. (We are doing a combination of intermittent fasting and very light lunches.  If we have a snack, it’s a keto-type one.)  This afternoon the choices for the coming week should be posted.

I’m also going to concentrate on my exercising more, now that our weather is cooling off a bit. I’m aiming for elliptical trainer in the morning and yoga stretches in the afternoon, with as much walking in-between as I can get in.

Our last BistroMD meal last night was Salmon. It was mostly edible, but my husband and I both used lots of tartar sauce. (Usually I don’t use anything except maybe a squeeze of lemon on salmon, so I was really disappointed). Neither of us could identify the side veggie, but we each took one bite and that was it. I just looked it up online and it was eggplant with 5 spices. (Maybe it would have been better if they had used 6.) We are in celebratory mode now because we are moving on. (We still have some snacks from both South Beach and BistroMD, but time will tell if we are hungry enough to eat them.)

Today I will cook some pork chops. We will have a side salad and a celebration of small portions of black eyed peas with onion.  We will eat half of this tonight and the other half tomorrow. Monday we pick up our order from Real Food. I’m eager to try that.

As with so many things, their competitor has already sprung up in Greenwood. It’s called, Stu’s Clean Cookin’. I was impressed with the ad in the paper. They list calories, fat, carbs, and protein for each meal listed. They identified some as “low carb,” “contains dairy,” and “contains gluten.” I like that.

So – just as we needed them, we have TWO nice companies preparing frozen meals we can try! I will be doing a lot of label reading. I plan to at least have several meal options available in the freezer while trying to get back into the swing of meal planning for keto eating.
