We went to visit my husband, Harvey, at the nursing home this morning. The visit was good and bad. It was bad because he was mostly unresponsive and we had to play “20 Questions” to try to tell us what he wanted, and then, when I told him I loved him toward the end of the visit, he said, “Well, you would HAVE to, to put up with a half-dead, f_ _ ked up man.” My heart just shredded. It was good because as my son, Brian, and I were waiting for the Grab to come pick us up, the nurses had gotten together and gotten Harvey into a wheelchair, wheeling him on on the porch to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. We visited a bit more and he actually said the sunshine felt good.

I’m going to rest a bit now. I feel exhausted by the nursing home trip. But then I plan to try to paint at least one of my sketches this afternoon.
I hope you have a really nice day.
Shredded is such a descriptive word for your feelings in that moment, Linda. Ugh!! I feel so sad reading this. But I’m glad the nurses wheeled Harvey outside for sunshine! ❤️

They later texted us that he stayed out there for quite a while, saying the fresh air and sunshine felt good. We just have to keep gearing up for the good and the bad with these visits. thank you for your kind words, Sheila.

Yes!!! With all the roller coaster emotions, I’m truly thankful that we have SUCH a good, caring place to make sure Harvey is getting the care he needs. We meet Harvey and his nurse at the hospital Tuesday for a routine check from the main doctor. Hopefully, they will take the nasal tube out and let Harvey eat on his own. 🙏🏻
