I downloaded “Here Be Darkness” by R. G. Ryan to my Kindle a couple of days ago. It’s a new Jake Moriarity series novel and I can’t wait to dive into it. I’m trying to decide if I want to re-read the other 6 in the series first.
I just finished “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis” by J.D. Vance. I found it down to earth, honest, and real. He is proud of his culture in the “Rust Belt” (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin) while being very straightforward about its strengths and weaknesses. I knew a bit, but now feel I understand better the challenges and feelings of the people who feel unseen and forgotten.
